  1. fisrst of all i'll try the better option of replacing the paste under the gpu die that hasn't been touched since it came out of the factory
  2. i know that's a 960 but the design is identical to mine
  3. yes cuz most blower style coolers have radiators with closed tops this was the case with my old 7970 but this one has normal heatskink also noise isn't the issue it's the temperature
  4. the gpu heatsink is the with of the pcb and about 7-10 cm long it's not small at all hence why i think this is possible , also i'm proposing this method instead of the accelero because i can't afford it however i do have a spare 120 mm far lying around

So my gtx 970 has been running rather hot these days about 78c after about 1-2 hours of gaming but i noticed that under the shroud you'd find a massive heatsink that you don't need to remove to remove the shroud and fan assembly , i'm asking if anyone tried removing the shroud and just sticking a regular casefan on the heatsink ?
