That's what happens when the internet runs off of like, two damn services. At least this happens very seldom though.

Yeah that's what I am thinking too.
No way a mentally stable and healthy individual would just suicide as soon as they saw a negative balance on their account.
Also, how can you have so little insight into your finance that you don't know if you are 730,000 dollars in debt or make money?

    This entire story smells fishy.

DrDerp reacted to themaniac in Not in Colorado - Intel refreshes Atom Embedded CPUs
seeing as Atoms don't even use the same architecture as the I series and were made as a competitor to ARM I don't see how Ryzen has anything to do with this, nor does AMD even have a low power soc/embedded series to compete with them. So how does Ryzen have anything to do with this?

At least they don't seems to pretend that this cable is "better" than a normal cable. It doesn't make false claims on the product page like lower interference or some other BS like others have done in the past with their gold/silver cables.

Capitalize the words "gold-plated". There is just couple microns of gold in that thing and the amount of gold in money is worth cents.
At least with Lightning stuff, it's not a new thing to milk the sheeps 😂

And it's a lightning connector too, which means in a generation or two it would be utterly useless since apple is rumored to go portless.

Thoughts: Is this made to cater to the same people who wants a diamond or gold etched iphone? If so they must be filithy rich or filthy stupid, for the same price I could get a thunderbolt 3 cable which is far more useful. That said, 99$ isn't as stupid as a gold HDMI cable which claims that the gold will somehow improve the quality of a digital signal.

People keep screaming about iOS 13 bugs and I'm like, what bugs? Had basically no issues since day one.

Also, I wonder how many of reported exploits are actually valid...

This is what happens when you behave hostile towards the people working into your system with good intentions. The ones with bad intentions will still find the exploits, Tim!

Also, isn't it convenient that federal employees are excluded from this thing... Just like the earn it bullshit bill. Expose everyone, but the pigs around the bowl. Those pigs have special privileges that allow them to use the encryption. Or have any kind of browsing history...

This should not exist. It's illegal, violates all privacy, can be used as a super-weapon if it gets in the wrong hands, and will just do more harm than good

DrDerp reacted to Delicieuxz in Bill Gates, Airbus, Softbank back EarthNow plan to cover Earth with real-time video surveillance satellites
Taking this plan at face value and without more information, there are obvious issues and I've mentioned some of them in the OP.

But here's another very specific one: There are people who abduct children and even teenagers. Access to real-time video surveillance of when children leave their home or school, their habits of where they go, would make it easy for a kidnapper to target and abduct a child with very-low risk of being caught.

And the ability to know when people in a house and their neighbours are all away from home would be like an open invitation to thieves.

This just sounds horrible. For all the good it can do it will do so far more worse things. Once anyone with bad intentions gets access to this be it a single person, a group, a government or whatnot things can easily spiral out of hand.

I at once sympathize, but at the same time I kinda wish vendors would stop supporting VGA.  It epitomizes that problem the Windows PC world has with being chained to the past, where companies and schools keep 20-year-old platforms around because of misguided priorities or simple inertia.  (See also: "nooo, don't make us upgrade our circa-1998 database software, that would involve actual migration work.")
