  1. That Zyxel does seem to be a decent choice, presuming I can get cctv working with it of course. MakeMKV and Handbrake seems perfect for what I want, thanks. I recall seeing (unfortunately I can't remember where) 4 night vision camera with 30 days recording storage for around £100-£150 a couple months ago, so was hoping for around £300 all in (nas, cameras[probably only want 2] and storage [2 x 2TB?]).
  2. I am looking into setting up a NAS and storing my DVD collection on there, but I am also looking to get a couple of CCTV cameras for some additional home security and would like to have them record to the NAS as well. For the DVDs, what is a good (perhaps free?) piece of software to get the film of the disc so that it can be stored on the NAS and played from any pc/phone/tablet? This may be a question for another site (if so any pointers as to where, I'm in the UK), but for the CCTV how would I go about it recording to the NAS, does it need special cameras, software or both? As for the NAS itself, I’m thinking 2TB + whatever I would need for the CCTV would be a decent capacity but I’m not sure if to go pre-built or build it myself. What are things to look out for if prebuilt? If I build it myself I do have some spare computer components, namely the motherboard, and i7 950, 14 GB (I think) RAM and a GTX 460 GPU, no cooler/case/psu etc though. Would they be fine for a NAS and what software would I need?
