  1. Hi, i am looking for recomendations for a monitor to pair with an M1 mac mini. My father used to work with a 2015 27 inch 5k imac, and it finally died. We were looking to upgrade to either the new 24 inch imac or a M1 mac mini. The mac mini is preferable because of the 10G ethernet option and being able to use the display if the computer dies. We are looking for a display that is comparable to the one he used to work with thats more or less the same price between the m1 mac mini and the m1 imac, so arround 600€-700€ if possible. He does graphic design, so color accuracy is important. Thanks in advance
  2. Yeah, i know its stupid even if were possible, but could you add a thunderbolt card to a desktop motherboard like this one: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Motherboards/Accessories/ThunderboltEX-4/ and add a gpu box to it? it wouldnt make any sense to do it unless some super specific circumstances, but just out of curiosity, is it possible?
  3. I recently got for free an asus ws c621e sage and wanted to use it for a homelab/render machine for arnold and maya. I have to use engineering sample cpus since i dont have enough budget for QS. I also have to buy it right now because when linus drops the video on cheap 3647 xeon, they will be gone in minutes, just like last time with the 2066 cpus. I can get for aproximately the same amount of money either two 8160s 24c 1.8GHz or two 8176 28c 1.5GHz. I dont mind having to deal with ES cpus, but im undecided about wich of these two to get
  4. So i've been using for a few months an app called splashtop to use an old ipad mini as an extra monitor for my pc and it works really well, aside from the latency penalty. I've been running out of screen space recently and thought of using a few old phones as extra monitors just like the ipad. However, splashtop only supports using a single device. I looked for more apps that can do similar things and found one called spacedesk, that advertises to do the same thing, but over the network. But when i try to connect it gives an error message saying its not compatible with splashtop. I've looked up in their formus and doesnt seem to be a solution. Does anyone know if this is an artifical limitation for competence reasons of there is some sort of driver that all these types of apps use that makes impossible to use more than one of them? Also is there some other app or other way i could connect more than one device as extra monitors? thanks in advance.
  5. So last time i visited my local recycler for parts i found an Acer S1002 convertible netbook. it was in pretty bad condition, but figured i've give it a try, since if the touchscreen worked it could be a nice laptop to control a cnc machine. The thing works and boots to windows, but it has a password. No problem i tought, since i was planning to do a fresh install anyways. The problem is, it just doesnt work. The boot menu was disabled by default, but it doesnt do anything. If i try to boot from the installation usb, it just boots straight into its preinstalled windows, i've tried with different usb drives, with diferent isos of windows, both in GPT and MBR partition schemes. Manually disabling each of the boot priority options doesnt do anything either, it boots into windows, and if i disable everithing and select the usb drive from the boot menu, it opens the bios and doesnt boot. Also if i do that the next time i restart the machine it doesnt even recognice the usb drive until i reset the bios settings to default and manually turn on the boot menu. I'm banging my head against the wall, does anyone know how to fix this? thanks in advance
  6. x58 doesnt support NVME natively. Even with x79 you have to use a modded bios to make it work. I dont know if there is a modded bios for the rampage iii, i havent been able to find anyone that got it to work
  7. You mean two full ATX motherboards? most of the options on the market only support a full ATX and a mini ITX
  8. So i've been recently looking to upgrade to the x399 platform now that 1st and 2nd gen threadripper are super cheap, and i found a x399 meg creation motherboard for 130€. All the other threadripper motherboards that i have found are at least 300€ for the flagship ones like the zenith and the aorus extreme, or are 250 for non flagship models. According to the seller, the USB ports on this board don't work. If i connect one of those pcie cards with a bunch of USB ports in it, will it work? should i buy it?
  9. I hope they show it at the end of the conference like they did with the 3900x
  10. So i recently bought 3 new screens to replace the 4480x1080 surround setup that i had to a 6390x1080 (an ultrawide in the middle and two 16:9 at the sides) and some games dont scale very well with that resolution, so for example if the minimap doesnt remain in the middle screen and it goes to an edge is so far away that i cant see it without turning my neck, and doing that is not only distracting from the game, but it hurts my neck after a few hours. Is there any software or workaround to stream part of the screen to for example my phone or another pc. I have taken apart my old laptop and conected it to a raspberry pi screen that i have under my main monitor, so have the map there would be pretty handy. Anyone knows if is any way to do this? thanks in advance
  11. Nope, i only know for sure there is a problem with the subwoofer, i'll RMA soon, but if i find a solution i'll post it
  12. I just ignore these types of charts and listen to electronic and some indie music, but i agree with you, its pretty much all garbage...
