  1. Like I said, it can be a real perspective change. If you haven't experienced it yourself, maybe you wouldn't understand. As I explained, its not just going to the country, but actually experiencing what its like to live there, such as trying to scrap together a computer with a local average wage. A lot of people live in a bubble, not interacting with others outside their bubble. When you leave your bubble, it can completely change your view on things. When you never leave your bubble, you start to think small issues are actually big issues and become more self-absorbed, believing you're more self important. I know. In Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur is very nice. I would live there. But there are many rural areas too. Probably the outskirts of a big city would be a good place to make videos.
  2. To be blunt, I feel like Linus, over the past year or so, has turned into the stereotypical self-absorbed rich person. I believe its part of why the scandal happened recently. So I would like to see Linus travel to a country with a lower GDP per capita than Canada and experience what the tech world is like for people living there. My suggestion is Malaysia since its a tech focused country, safe, most people speak english, and its very far away from Canada. I think a Scrapyard wars season in a completely foreign country could be extremely interesting to watch, with the competitors limited to a budget of what locals would make in a month. Learning how much people make in other countries, and comparing it to the costs of computer parts, would be very educational. And maybe another video in the country "I upgraded an elementary school's computer systems!". Its a little corny, but I think Linus's image could really benefit from some real, in person, charity work. I think he, as a person, along with his audience, could really benefit from seeing what the tech world is like in "non-western" countries. It can be a real perspective change. LTT's 3rd most popular video is "Building a PC CHEAPER in CHINA?! feat. Strange Parts", so clearly the idea of this is popular. (Just don't go back to china again, go somewhere new). < removed by moderation >
  3. really? How do people listen to music/bands that isn't on a streaming service? Streaming is great for discovering music, but I couldn't imagine not buying music I love. What if one day streaming services stopped hosting those songs? Or indie music that isn't on any streaming services? Buying a FLAC copy of my favorite band's new album on bandcamp seems like a no-brainer. I'm patiently waiting for Oct.27th to do that too.
  4. Why not a collab with AVGN/cinemassacre? https://www.youtube.com/@JamesNintendoNerd I know Linus usually prefers to collab with terrible and often downright awful creators, but why not collab with one of the most respected early-days youtubers? He could probably use a server upgrade. relevant video from 2021:
  5. I'm still not sold on it. A tablet is just simply better. Its a bigger screen and includes a case with a physical keyboard. The only times I feel like I want a bigger screen is when I'm traveling, and I'm going to have a backpack with me anyways, so it no problem stuffing my tablet in there.
  6. The hardest part is actually convincing people to show up. You have to offer something very special for people to want to go, especially if you expect them to pay.
  7. Kinda started that way but his most recent ~dozen videos have been very interesting. More like mini documentaries.
  8. I came here to post this. I haven't watched it yet but I generally really like KiraTV's latest videos. Its probably worth watching Check out his channel, most of his videos are about drama among internet communities, particularly game or streamer related personalities.
  9. Do the other brands have big youtube channels that, if mentioned, would bring in significant amount of views?
  10. I kinda felt that way, but they are both youtubers, so I think its reasonable to collab.
  11. It looks good, but I just don't really like ratchet screwdrivers. A good quality normal screwdriver is much cheaper and much more sturdy.
  12. Noticed LTT is down another 100k. They were at 15.6m last week, but now at 15.4m
  13. Mainstream outlets reporting it now https://www.forbes.com/sites/conormurray/2023/08/17/youtube-channel-linus-tech-tips-inaccuracies-and-sexual-harassment-allegations-explained/
  14. I was kinda shocked by this. STILL being defensing, wow. Complaining about some random meaningless comments. He is more mad at the comments than he is at his and the teams failings.
  15. wtf, thats kinda unhinged. Thats seriously just wow
  16. They really should have addressed the billet labs thing better.
  17. A break is probably good, to focus his thoughts. He also possibly set his account to invisible so he doesn't show as online.
  18. I agree. I think the framework investment is fine. I still like he invested in them.
  19. eh, I rarely see others do that to correct major errors. Its usually done to add context. "*This was filmed during a thunderstorm, so audio quality may be bad during some parts of the video", something like that. Not "*What is currently being spoken is entirely false"
  20. I was actually going to make a thread a few days ago complaining about all the asterisks in videos. Its like every video there is some error that has to be corrected. Seems unprofessional. I'm glad GN brought it up.
