  1. Budget (including currency): 400 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Google Chrome Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Already have 1tb hdd and 256gb samsung. Here is the link to the build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gRQKwh Any suggestions? Not used for gaming or anything gpu heavy software, so no GPU required.
  2. Is there anyway I can fix the thermals myself?
  3. I'm new to this temp stuff and HWInfo, but does this info help? These readings are from when I got low fps.
  4. This is what my temps look like when I play destiny. Is this fine or is it too hot?
  5. My CPU and GPU temps have been fine since the new bios update tho. I don't think its overheating or anything.
  6. So basically I have a Dell G7 7588 which has a Intel I7 8750H and a GTX 1060 Max Q 6gb. This laptop should be more than capable enough to run games such as Modern Warfare and Destiny 2, but I've been encountering major fps drops. I tested the video settings by playing on low, medium, and High, and suprisingly I got the same FPS using all three video settings. I barely use my V-Ram and I've been lagging. The fps goes to 100 for a bit, like it should, but then it drops down to 30 and stays there (for both games). The CPU temp stays at about 75-85C and the GPU is usually at around 68C when gaming.
  7. So I stumbled upon a new idea of turning my old laptop LCD screen into a external monitor and decided to buy a controller board for it. The controller board is fully compatible but when I hooked everything up I got a blank white screen. This is my second controller board so I don't believe its the controller board's issue. So I was wondering if any of you know how I could troubleshoot this, or if it is just a dead monitor.
  8. So I am attempting to make my super old desktop (COMPAQ CQ5110F) boot up windows 10 with an ssd. I had installed windows 10 on the hdd and was cloning the hdd to the ssd. The ssd is a samsung 850 EVO that I took out of my old laptop. I then went into bios and made it so it would boot out of the SSD, but midway into booting up I get the error in BSOD of Inaccessible Boot Device. I did the cloning process through samsungs data migration software, and I've done this many times with other laptops and PC's but I've never gotten this error before.
  9. well its not particularly for gaming so the GPU doesnt matter. For gaming I was thinking of switching back to Windows because I'd have enabled dual boot.
  10. Do you think I could dual-boot my Dell G7 to run hackintosh? I have a dell g7 7588 CPU: i7-8750H GPU: gtx 1060 6gb vram max-q design
  11. Ok so it seems to be spinning. I put it in my external case and plugged it in after the windows boot. Turns out it works for about 2 minutes and then it disappears from the file explorer. When it turned on I saw all my files there so my information is still there, but it is not being seen in the device manager.
