Gaming, light video editing for work mostly h264 and other normal pc things. I know there is about zero chance I will max out a TR but I prefer to go big when I build a new machine. I just wanted opinions on Intel vs amd on the current high end CPUs.

The 8700k over the 7820x? I know it’s not going to double, and I definitely don’t want to get worse performance for spending 2 grand on a new setup.

I am wanting to upgrade my current cpu & motherboard combo. I currently have a 4970k with a gigabyte z97x motherboard with 32 gig of ram. I also have 2 gtx 1070 in sli. The machine mostly does gaming with some light h264 encoding for work. I am considering a threadripper 1900x or 1950x depending on what I can talk myself into spending. I want to go with the threadripper simply for the pci-e lanes available for the GPUs, and I plan to build a 10gb network at home in the future. (Virtualized router on the main pc with 4 port pcie 10gb cards 1 or 2 of them). Is there a better intel solution for doing this or is the threadripper my best option. Currently trying to decide on 1900x with x399 or 7820k with x299. Cost being about the same between everything which one makes more sense? Or should I just bite the bullet and get the 1950x
