  1. so i in the planning stages of a build and have been working torwards a theme as i intend to do some modding to the case and parts. so lets set the stage by telling you parts and theme i will being using the asus rog strix z370-e mobo the core p3 case from thermaltake ek supremacy evo , and gpu ek block all of which is copper plate and plexi acetal finish planning on primo chill rad and res most likely either white or silver full modular supply painted white with cable mods cables also white. all nickel ek fittings (light) now for my vision i plan to strip my core p3 and polish the entire thing and paint the feet white or silver but i can't figure out if i want to go copper tubing to add to the metals and polish look by also polishing the copper for a super clean brilliant finish or petg (clear) because i can't decide if i want to go with primochill vue sky blue or clear liquid. i already have alot of my parts including ( cpu, block, fittings, case rad. my ek supremacy evo is full copper with the plexi acetal top so its see through now but can't decide if i really love the accent of the polished copper giving it a brilliant metals look almost like a large art piece of jewelry or petg with the sky blue vue for a nice popping effect. so theres the question polished copper with clear fluid or vue (would most likly go grew silver or white) or petg and go vue sky blue or teal i am looking for some opinions so i can see how others feel about the theme and which would you would go if you were making the choice your self or maybe change it slightly and tell me why of course i am married to most of this and really like these theme choices.
  2. ok yeah i have heard that before i guess ill just ignore it thanks for quick reply
  3. been slowly updating drivers and what not on my pc and i realized i can update my bios on my mobo i have never updated a bios before should i do it ? i have a 970 pro gaming/aura from asus . if so how and what steps should i take to do it in the safest fashion?
  4. ok cool good to know glad to be armed knowing what i need to know when taxes come around thanks again!
  5. so what would be a comparable cpu to the 8400? from amd ryzen
  6. perfect ill just skip the card till prices drop which frees up the budget for other things i want to grab too thanks this really helps. Tired of being a AMD guy anyway if i can have smoother cooler cpus i am good with that. thanks for being patient and helping me work this out. so a 1070ti or i am guessing maybe up to a 1080ti will work no bottleneck no sutter with this i5?
  7. no more than 1grand usd i am upgrading mostly due to my wifes little bro has a stump for a rig and i wanted to help him out by handing off alot of my rig to help him but the more i do the math its just hard to slice even at a grand specially with ram and gpu prices. been pushing my gpu pretty hard lately honestly i love it does everything very well but with monster hunter wold and ff15 coming pc side soon i wanted to be ready but if my 380x has no issues i can just throw him a junk cast off or buy him some under powered gt card something regardless he would be overly happy as all he can do is play flash games right now.i had intended this money to rebuild me a cpu mobo and maybe finally go petg replace my soft fittings and water cool my card so i can do away with the fans ect do alittle modding. and finally get a ssd
  8. ok so i didn't realize what sort of prices that cpu was in for i guess i need to repeat i am on a budget 300-400 seems steep just for a cpu am i just asking for too much at those frames at 1080p? is there something cheaper that can still drive a gtx 1080 i didn't intend to mention budget but to everyone budget means something differn't i can't spend more than a grand i don't even want that if possible if i can stay on the ddr3 platform that would be great sense i already have the ram if i don't even have to switch out of the r9 380x thats fine its a solid card it plays warframe max 1080p no problems doesn't dip under 140 frames ever even with insane number of stuff going on.
  9. well still good to know look i have said i don't know about the intel side of things been a budget pc gamer a long time and AMD as always the appeal cause it was "cheaper" of course thats not always the best reason
  10. well that is def a option i am just looking at prices build logs ect. and seeing the stack up of prices right now and it seems like building a cutting edge or new hardware system ryzen coffee lake ect. is just way out of line with the gpu prices and ram. plus with CES out of the way and all the new up coming stuff who knows maybe parts for the market will calm down and make buying a new rig a affordable future.
  11. so would a gen 4 4790k be able to drive a high end gpu 1070 ti - 1080ti ect i mean we all dream of cheap gpus heck i literally dream of such things though no warranty and miners slave cards does scare me.
  12. i already have a r9 380x is there that much of a differnce between that and the 750ti i mean i used to have a gtx 660 (really miss that thing)?
  13. yah see i knew there were better options than hopping onto the ryzen band wagon i just have never really dealt much with intel i built a brother in law some hardcore intel rig but that was like 5 years ago and i hardly remember jack about it. and with curren't gpu and ram prices any corners i can cut and still get that performance push the better. being on the cutting edge of tech doesn't mean i should have to miss out on the sweet sweet high fps
  14. yah sadly that is the painful circle of problems and questions now days ram is crazy priced and gpus are insane priced/out of stock either way it makes things tough. i just know i don't need a LTT over powered beast multi gpu ect system i just want it to do 60- 100 fps on modern games at 1080p 144hrz
  15. i also i guess if its cheaper to go intel and not bottle neck just let me know. i know that the fx cpu line from AMD wasn't very good and that intel has been rocking for awhile so manybe a older icore intel cpu would be a better choice i just don't have any expereince with intel cpu's let me know if its a better route.
