Hey all, I have a reasonably new computer running a Gigabyte Z270x Aorus K7, Intel 7700k, WD Black NVMe driver, and Nvidia GTX 1080. I have an Asus Xonar DSX sound card from my old build that had to be ripped out (compatibility issues with OS). I want to add that card to my new computer, but I am worried that between the NVMe drive, graphics card, and sound card I will end up running low on PCIe lanes. I just want to make sure I have my graphics card running in at least 8x mode, but will my motherboard be able to detect the WD black runs in 4x and actually be able to get the sound card to work, or will it kick all 3 into 4x and make the graphics card run significantly slower? Am I worried over nothing? Let me know if I'm being an idiot, or if it's a good question (probably isn't). I'd really appreciate any input anyone has. Thanks in advance!
