  1. I was re-cabling my computer and accidentally dislodged one of the pins from the plastic housing on my 14/10 pin to 24 pin ATX cable. I am able to push the pin all the way back inside the housing, although I am unsure how safe this is. Thankfully this is a modular power supply so I can replace the cable easily, but if possible I would like to reuse this. Can anybody advise? Thanks in advance!
  2. Alright I'll look into it a bit more. Thank you for your help - I'm feeling a little less confused now.
  3. (Sorry for the accidental quote comment) I don't really have a budget atm but how much would I be looking at for an upgrade like that with decent parts?
  4. My CPU frequency fluctuates between 4.03 GHz to 4.05. + And like I said, I don't really know my stuff when it comes to CPUs so I don't know when a good time would be to upgrade.

  6. Should I check this while I'm playing a game and the CPU and GPU will be under significant pressure or should I just check it while on my Desktop?
  7. Overclocking the CPU hmm? That's something I am yet to look into. Is it worth doing / is there much to gain from overclocking?
  8. Around Christmas time I upgraded from my old AMD R7 260x GPU to the MSI GTX 1050 Ti (4gb variant) and saw a massive improvement in framerates on my favourite games. However, when I watch videos of other people benchmarking their 1050 Ti's with the same games, they are able to run them at much higher framerates with the same settings. My friend told me that I might want to upgrade my CPU as that could be what is bottle-necking system, but my knowledge is very weak in that area so I'm wondering if someone can point me in the right direction or turn me back round completely and suggest another idea. If it helps to know, I have 8GB of ram and a Gigabyte Z87-HD3 Motherboard but again, I'm pretty clueless in this area so I'm not sure if that's relevant information or not. Any advice appreciated, thank you.
  9. Ugh, what a bummer. Well I'll definitely consider doing that, my PC is festered with lots of junky programs anyway. Maybe my 2018 New Year's Resolution will be to take better care of my desktop..
  10. Since the latest Windows update, I've been having this issue with my file explorer where the bar at the top that displays the current location has turned completely black and is just plain ugly. I did install some kind of file explorer tweaker (?) about a year ago to help out with my theme at the time, but since I haven't used that transparent "spacey" theme in over a year I just switched it back and carried on using Windows with the default theme. Also yes, this is a Windows machine but the icons are from Linux (I believe?) which came as part of that tweak pack that I installed a while back. Has this happened to anyone else and do you know why it suddenly decided to break? All help appreciated, feel free to ask questions, please help me. - Frosty P.S If anyone knows how to sort of "factory reset" my file explorer / Windows themes then that would be awesome.
  11. I've been thinking of buying myself a GTX 1050 Ti for Christmas and have been really excited to get it, but I'm worried that the rest of my computer is too outdated to handle its power? Here are my specs: Intel Core i5 4670K Haswell Processor [Overclocked] Gigabyte Z87-HD3 Motherboard AMD Radeon R7 260X [Current Graphics Card] FSP Premium Grade 600W PSU 8GB Corsair/Crucial PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3 Memory (2 x 4GB sticks) Do I need to upgrade anything or am I good to go? Any advice would be appreciated - thanks! (If I forgot to include any of my specs then just let me know and I'll add them to the list.)
