The best way to learn IMO, is just to jump straight in and figure it out for yourself.

I've worked every position in the store from open to closing except for the front counter in my time (Glad of that BTW) and that does include "Maintenance" or as I call it:
Shit scrubber/getter/do'er because that's really all it was.

During my time I've ran the grill solo after lunch until about 4 or 5 in the evening, that in itself had me FLYING in the back, esp when we got buses in..... And I did that occasionally by myself and actually handled it for the most part.
Maybe some help from the lone manager of the day and that was really it for help with it all.
Did that for a couple of years, wasn't too bad but it was what it was.

Speaking of the freezer, unloading the truck was fun when you played catch with cases of fries on an ice-slick floor and it would knock you all the way to the back just catching it, then you'd "Ice Skate" back up just to catch another one.
They also wanted those trucks unloaded ASAP, as in yesterday when it arrives.
And don't miscount what comes in, double or even triple-check things to make sure if you're short on something according to the paperwork, it wasn't you that made it that way.
And if you are short something you'd best say so immediately.

Ecchi is correct about being on the good side of management because if you're not, it can be alot worse and you don't have to guess what that consists of with some of those in management just to get there..... And stay there too.
BTW that applies to any fast food place, not just there.
You do occasionally get into one that's decent to good to work at, if so in your case, count yourself lucky.

I'll admit I did learn alot during my time there, I just wish I could have learned alot of those lessons elsewhere.

I worked at a McDonalds for almost 2 years. I was a crew trainer for a year of that.

Its non-stop. In the down time, your expected to clean up, re stock, sweep, ect... Theres almost no time to catch your breath (During the day shift). I mostly opened so I'd come in at 5/6am to open the store, this meant setting up the front counter and or setting up the kitchen. Turning on the grills, doing the DPSC, ect.

I'd normally be the one to do the stock in the morning. So I'd go into a freezer every morning (It'll be around -18 to -20) to get a massive list of things, then  do the same with the dry stock. They'd give me a list of about 20/30 items and ask me do it in 15-20 minutes, it would end up taking me closer to 30.

In my opinion, the kitchen is the place to be. The easiest role, in my opinion is chicken fryer. Its somewhat relaxed and is the easiest station to learn and master. As I was a crew trainer I'd have to do all jobs, I hated the front counter. During the busy lunch times, some people would treat staff like dirt, sometimes you'd get someone swearing at you for forgetting ketchup, but that was probably just my store as the local area wasn't that nice. Honestly, the kitchen is the best place to be, you'll be a little busier but you'll be able to actually have fun and have a little laugh from time to time. Also the kitchen staff, if its overstaffed, normally get sent home early. Win win.

INSPECTION. At my store, we had one coming up and they called me at mid-night the day before asking me to come in at 3-4am so we could, "deep clean" the entire store, the freezer, the dry stock room & the grills. It was hell.

The schedule is a joke, honestly @OnionRings try to get on the good side of the manager that deals with it. It worked in my favor.

I could write an essay on this. I'd highly recommend finding a different job after a couple of months.

One of the most stressful experiences I've had.

Christmas day, my grandparents got my little cousin a laptop. They ask me to set it up, set up his email account, and all other accounts he'd need. We also got him MS office, I set up all fine. No problem at all. While I was setting it up, it was on charge. The moment I finished, I left it to charge. Later on my cousin went to play with his new laptop, unplugged it and it switched off. Then he came and told everyone that I broke it and that it was my fault, started screaming and shouting. I then looked at it and realized the battery wasn't taking power. My grandparents then demanded I fixed it there and then. Of course, I don't know how to fix something like this. Little cousin left upset that his new laptop wasn't working.

    Eventful Christmas day.

The reason for that is because Spectre or Meltdown (I forget which one came first) attracted SO MUCH attention that almost every security researcher immediately started looking into CPU based security real hard to try and find "the next big thing".

Coding things like leap years, leap seconds, time zones and the likes is a major pain in the ass.
Bad design, sure, but a pretty understandable oversight.

Rather than asking it to be done for you, come up with a possible build that you think would be good and then ask for improvements.
