The card severely reduces Clocks to save power when there's little load. My 6600XT right now is at 5MHz just browsing. The power consumption on the 6600s is quite low, it's showing around 80W in AMDs stress test for me. Also, temps will be very low due to the low power consumption, so I'd say what you are seeing is expected

As the others suggested, check the games without VSync/Freesync to see if it clocks higher then. Good Luck

So I posted a while back about this trans girl I was really into and yeah, it ended up not working out. Turns out she had issues I guess. Commitment issues among other things.

But I happened to meet another girl who happens to be trans. And yeah, we really hit it off. Like super hit it off.  This girl is just something else. Putting aside how freaking adorable she is, we just see eye to eye on so many things. We share so many of the same values and want the same things in life. Idk. Like, we just had this instant connection and I found myself sharing things with her that I've never really shared with other people and she shared things with me that she said she only ever told one other person. Like, we just connect on such an intimate level.

Anyway, yeah I asked her out and she said yes. So we are dating. Actually, her response was quite hilarious when I asked her. We had been bonding so much and there was this obvious tension so when I asked her she was like "Are you freaking kidding me? You better not be joking right now". Lol.

My parents though... I love them but I'm so disappointed. We have debated in the past about trans related issues and I never thought my parents were "transphobic" or bigoted. I just thought they had their beliefs. Like, I get that some people are really focused on the DNA. I don't think believing trans people are just confused makes you a bad person. I think it shows you are ignorant of psychology and science but I don't think it is necessarily out of a place of hate. But now with my parents, they won't even look at a picture of this girl. They refuse to have any conversation where she comes up. They don't even want to meet her. All this because she is trans. To me, that is the point where you cross the line between having a certain belief on the matter to actually being a bit of a bigot.

The thing is, this girl is so sweet and understanding that she just brushes this off. She is used to rejection because people just can't accept trans identity. It makes me feel sad and angry. Idk. It just sucks my parents won't even accept my relationship because my gf is trans. They don't get that she is just like any other girl, just born a little different. They keep saying things like she is pretending and all kinds of other things. Idk why people get so hung up on this when it doesn't even effect them.

Combined High- and Lowside FETs are pretty much standard in every high-end board by now.
They often offer more monitoring features (temperature, current and voltage monitoring etc.).
A well designed separate FET design can be excellent (and in theory has larger surface area) but by now it's mostly used in cheaper boards as Power Stages tend to be more expensive.

To OPs question, it would be helpful to know which motherboard it is about. Generally, the first number is the number of Phases the CPU gets and the second number is for the memory.
Motherboard makers often bullshit about phase count. It's almost impossible to tell a good from a bad VRM simply by looking at the numbers in front.

    "safest":
A cheaper CPU, GPU and RAM will not be less safe. They'll just be slower. So if that's the standard, I guess those?

The motherboard is another good one. People are overspending on 14 Phase VRMs while never even overclocking. I don't want to dictate what people spend their money on - but many motherboards are a waste and for the majority of people a cheap one will be more than enough. This is where you can save a ton of money without losing any performance really.

Also CPU coolers I guess. The stock cooler on AMD will do fine if it comes with one, everything else is acoustics or temps for overclocking.

Just don't skimp out on the PSU.

Kind of annoyed with my mom right now. I still haven't told her that girl I'm into is trans because said girl hasn't given me the go-ahead but my mom pretty much figured it out. It's my fault. Lately I have been bringing up and arguing about trans issues with her and now she is totally convinced this girl is trans, which she is but i didn't want her to piece it together like this.

Now she is making smart comments to me whenever I talk about her like "Will you stop saying she?" and "She's not a she, he's a guy". The thing that annoys me is my mom says she believes some trans people are legitimately born in the wrong body. But according to her it is only a very small minority and the rest are just confused. Personally, I think it is the exact opposite. But when I try to pin her down about those people who she admits were born with a mismatch of gender and sex, like what should they do? She can't give an answer.

I don't need my parents approval but I wish they were a bit open minded. Honestly though, I can't be mad. There was a time I thought like them until I started to educate myself on the subject. When I look at and talk to this girl, I seriously can't see anything but a girl. I've certainly come a long way. Can't believe I ever thought any different. There was a time when I wondered if I tried to date a trans girl, would I second guess it? Definitely have my answer now and it's a big no.

Kind of makes me sad for all the guys who are still hung up on all this. I don't give a crap what people think but a lot of guys do. It's a shame that society is still so judgmental that people feel the need to hide their true feelings. So many great relationships could exist if people could just be open and not worry about what others think.

And to be clear, I realize I say I don't give a crap what people think but yet complain about my parents opinion on the matter. What I mean is, what people think doesn't change how I feel and I don't feel any kind of embarrassment or unease because of what others think. But at the same time, I do want to see a shift in public opinion. Hope that makes sense.

You are taking a Grand Tour video and applying it to usps. It just doesn't work.

A usps route is pretty much the perfect scenario for an electric. Literally. Lots of stop and go means you can get a good amount of energy back. Short routes that should be well within current electric capabilities. This combined means that a single charge a day would probably get you through most routes.

The charging infrastructure at the depot wouldn't have to be insanely fast charging, it would just have to charge them over night. This is neither expensive in comparison to other spendings usps has nor does it take a long time to do.

-iSynthesis reacted to Eigenvektor in Why are so many numbers in this field multiples of 8?
Not quite correct. Historically a byte was defined as the number of bits used to encode a single character and/or the smallest addressable unit of memory. These days that is typically 8 bit, but other sizes exist(ed) (e.g. 6-bit byte or 9-bit byte).

ASCII actually only uses 7 bits (128 characters). On e.g. MS-DOS you had 8 bits and the additional characters this enables where used for a code page that contained additional (language specific) characters, but they are not part of the original ASCII standard.

These days we have Unicode (e.g. UTF-8) that retains backwards compatibility with ASCII while also being able to encode additional characters using variable-width character encoding.

from quick searches comparing EVs to gas cars, I only saw an average of around 20% weight difference? Thats not that much more
right, and coal and gas is more efficient than burning gasoline, so how is that a negative?
which is less dirty than producing and using gas cars.
how so? I dream of the day I can just charge at home or while shopping, never having to stop at a gas station to get gas. Its way more efficient from a personal level to not have to make an extra stop.
but that would still make electricity cheaper unless it was taxed signifigantly higher than gas is.

-iSynthesis got a reaction from Muhlis in Is it good to expose power bank to cold?
This strongly depends on the battery inside. Some specially designed Lithium-Ion batteries may operate a bit below -50°C even. But for normal ones you shouldn't go below 0° when charging (storing it colder is another topic). This may / will decrease it's capacity irreversibly. They will also charge substantially slower as the internal resistance rises with lower temps.
I myself have used power banks at below that, they were fine afterwards but I'd recommend putting the power bank into a warm bag or something, tightly wrap it maybe (It should produce a bit of heat itself so if it's 0°C outside it should be a bit more if it's wrapped into something)

I've had something similar happening with my Vega 56 I believe. It shut down both monitors and the fans ramped up to 100%, temps were fine seemingly.
For me it was the Hot Spot temp (it's shown in hwinfo). While the GPU temp was around 70 or 75 the Hot Spot went up to 118 and shut down afterwards.

I used a method of tensioning the cooler that Igor's lab used. Basically you want to put quite a bit of paste on the GPU (The die on vegas is really large and sometimes uneven).
Then you mainly tension the upper two screws of the core (The one further away from the PCIe slot) and once they are completely screwed in continue with the other ones.
This took my Hot Spot temp down a good 20° and now it does not crash anymore.

Before doing all of this report Hot Spot temps first obviously, might be just fine and be another problem.

In general you are right. However in Germany (f.e. with warranty claims etc.) oftentimes the proof of the damage is on the companies, this is implemented to protect consumers. As an example, the seller has to prove that the product was damaged by the consumer for the first 6 months if he does not accept a warranty claim, not the other way around.

To clear some things up, you are not official owner of an item until you have paid for it AND received it (§929 BGB). You are however owed that you actually get the item.
I guess the law that would apply if you do not get an item is the same that would apply with a warranty claim. This states that the seller can either provide a refund or demand that he tries to repair the item up to two times.
They can't repair something they haven't sent it to you in the first place.

This refund would span the amount of money you paid, NOT current market price.
The law for this is §249 BGB, which states that they have to provide you the money that you would have if you would not have purchased the item in the first place. This leaves possible room for interest, but this would be pointless to try and get from them as it would be minimal.

    Ideal steps to take:
    1) It is always important to give them a set span of time (a realistic one) to send you the item you are owed. (F.e. 2 weeks, this step takes you out of any problems you might encounter)
If they do not fulfill this or 2) Clearly state that they are not interested in sending you the item you are obligated to the refund under the conditions I stated earlier.

I cannot see a direct crime they have committed (only possibly fraudulent conversion or something along the lines, called "Unterschlagung" in German, though I doubt this would be acknowledged in court).  A court case would probably not lead to any realistic gain for you more than a simple refund. If they don't provide that, sure, go ahead.
I know you're pissed right now but you'll be even more pissed if you spend money and a lot of time building a court case to, at most, get an interest of maybe 1-2% on your money.
My advice: Get your refund asap, if not go to court. If you get it, get out of there and leave a bad review.

Depending on the GPU in question the backplate is often connected to the back of the GPU core or the back of the VRMs. Both get toasty fast, it's normal to feel it getting warm in that amount of time.
(Some cards have purely aesthetical backplates, those shouldn't get very hot)
On my Vega56 the backplate gets hotter than the normal heatsink, too. Just the VRMs touch the backplate, though they are not well cooled in the first place...
