  1. Ah, didn't know the forum worked that way, thanks. I do believe I am leaning towards the 598s. I've heard the 518s and 558s are comparable to some degree but currently the pricing on Amazon favors the 598s so I figure as I may as well (they're currently listed around $129, $144, and $149 I believe). I'll also take a look at the Grado. I do want to eventually invest in an Amp, have heard the 598s can scale up decently with one. Is there an affordable one that you would recommend? Thank you.
  2. I've seen the Massdrop for the HD6XX. It is certainly a very tempting deal, but my concerns about it is that I believe that headphone will require an Amp to power it, correct? Also the estimated delivery was something like March 2018, or did I interpret that incorrectly? Unfortunately the added amp requirement is not currently within my budget. I'm also currently without any headphones at all so I'm looking to get something a bit sooner. (My old $10 Sony from Best Buy don't seem to play nice with Windows 10 any more. lol) I did also consider the Beyerdynamic DT990s but tbh I was scared off by the impedance which I assumed meant it required an amplifier to go along with it. Also heard it's a bit bass heavy, which from what I understand is not ideal for competitive gaming and also not what I would normally look for in my music. Please correct me if I was mistaken. Did hear the HyperX Cloud was one of the better gaming headsets but hadn't really looked too much into it. I'll give it another look. Thank you all for your input thus far, I appreciate it.
  3. Hi, I was wondering if you folks might give a recommendation between Sennheiser HD 598 SR or Audio Technica ATH-AD900x, currently both at around $150. I am looking for a daily driver, though it would mostly be used for gaming. I do want some level of immersive sound, but primarily want something with a good and accurate sound stage for FPS and multiplayer games such as CSGO, Overwatch, and Dead by Daylight. Would prefer if it was also at least decent for movies and music, of course. For music I listen to a bit of everything, but mostly pop, soft rock, and Latin music like Salsa and Bachata. So I'd say I'm mostly interested in vocals and instrumentals, a little bass never hurts but isn't my primary focus. Comfort is also very important to me, I've had some bad experiences with the likes of Turtle Beach headsets that became far too uncomfortable after maybe an hour or two. I want something I could wear comfortably for several hours. I also wear glasses so would like to know if that would be a problem with either choice. I'm also considering some less expensive options I've heard good things about, the Superlux 668B and Philips SHP9500, both currently around $40-50. Would be happy to hear opinions on those as well. Is there a significant improvement in quality for spending more, or would either those be comparable? (The Philips in particular seems to have gotten a lot of acclaim, Z reviews swears by them, but I've heard other reviewers like Metal571 claim they would specifically under-perform for gaming due to what he called a confused soundstage). Or is there something else you would recommend around that $150 price point or below? Could maybe swing my budget up to $200 if there's something that's far superior to these choices, but I'd prefer to spend no more than ~$150. Thanks!
