  1. Ganz, the 2x16 seems promising. Princess Cadence, the 4x8 isn't going to do it for a possible 64GB. Thanks.
  2. Does it make sense to get 3200 RAM--err 2932 and slow it to 3000 in the UEFI? I am looking at G.Skill mostly, or perhaps Cosair, who does not seem excited about supporting the Ryzen. I would be seeking a 2x16GB kit, with the hope of adding a second. The Threadripper would seem easier for a 4x8GB kit. Sigh.
  3. Once again, I am looking at building another computer. The new computer will have only twice the RAM as the old one. The RAM will be once again marginally faster--while the processor continue to add cores and become faster, with RAM as a bottleneck. So, all of the DDR4 memory, I am looking at buying today: is slated for the trash in a few years, YET if computers used static RAM, the initial cost would be indeed expensive, but its performance would better, and it wouldn't be as disposable. It seems that the financial sense of DRAM is fading in this multicore world.
  4. Thanks for chiming in Thorhammerz. Memory is a plot point for me, because I want some single-core improvement over my aging Sandybridge, which the Ryzen can apparently has, and my immediate need is 32GB, but I don't want to lock myself out of 64GB, because I use some heavy-hitter science applications (below, most of the way through), which my current system lacks the RAM for. [The Threadripper is spiffy, but oh so spendy, the motherboards are expensive, and not well rated.] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZH40mvSFI-g
  5. Aidianlockett1, I don't want to buy RAM that won't ever work with 64GB. Hasn't this platform been out for--months?
  6. I am interested in a Ryzen 1800x, but have a future need for 64GB RAM and current need for 32GB. Most of what I have read, states that the Ryzen likes fast RAM. I haven't seen any people running 3200 RAM in a 64GB config. I don't notice any 64GB approved RAM config. Is the Ryzen CPU/chipset just broken, or which RAM should I buy? [I was looking at a MSI X370 Carbon MB] Thank, --BrendaEM
