  1. this can be closed. It seems that the Synology does not support the "clr-verify" option. client dev tun proto udp remote us-seattle.privacy.network 1199 resolv-retry infinite nobind persist-key persist-tun cipher aes-256-cbc auth sha256 tls-client remote-cert-tls server auth-user-pass comp-lzo no verb 1 reneg-sec 0 crl-verify crl.rsa.4096.pem <<< removed this line ca ca.rsa.4096.crt disable-occ
  2. I tried to use the VPN client in my DS918+ to connect to PIA. But it gives me a generic error message saying "Connection Failed. Please check you network settings". I tried to search on PIA and Synology forums and even Reddit but all instructions fail. So I tried to connect to PIA via the command line. It seems able to connect (using the root user). any ideas?
  3. I'm new to NAS so I was thinking if there will be benefits in doing it.
  4. I have a DS918+ i have only 2x 4TB drives in it. I am planning to add 2 more. I am thinking of creating a new Volume for the 2 new drives instead of expanding my current volume. Is that a good idea?
  5. Hi All, I'm planning to upgrade my storage solution for my home backup of my photos and important files. Currently I have 2x4TB WDC blue drives that is mounted on an Orico usb SATA HDD dock. This setup is working fine however, the back up process of our phones are manual. We have to plug our phones and manually copy all the files into the drives. I have decided that I will go for either Synology DS918+ or QNAP TS453BE. But due to the availability of QNAP in my location I would be going with the Synology. I am also planing to purchase 2x4TB Seagate iron wolf drive and mix it with my WDC Blues. Is this a good idea? Thanks in advance for you insights.
  6. As many videos has already pointed out that ryzen 3000 series has almost at peak performance out of the box due to Precision Boost 2, I think the stock cooler that came with the Ryzen 3600 will do just fine. I have a Corsair H215 pro pro on my Ryzen 3600 and I regret getting that cooler I should have gone with the stock cooler or a nice aftermarket air-cooler (for aesthetics) but other than that no performance gain to be had unless you would go to sub-zero OC. if I were to choose between Dark Rock Slim or AIO, I would pick Dark Rock as AIO has a pump which another point of failure.
  7. move to NAS sub-topic
  8. I paired by R5 3600 with MSI B450M Mortar a little cheaper than the Tomahawk but has a good enough VRM.
  9. Hi All, I currenly have 2 hard drives 1x WD Blue 2Tb and 1x WD Green 2Tb on a Orico usb hdd dock. I want to upgrade to a proper NAS. I'm thinking of buying a 2 bay Synology and put my old drives to it or build a custom nas. I have max $500 budget. Thanks for your recommendations
  10. If you're using windows 10 before and you have to reinstall it, no need for the key it will reactivate windows once your computer can connect to the Microsoft account website. If you're using Windows 7 or 8. Yes you can reuse your "own" key
  11. IIn my previous system i had i5 6500 and R9 390. Then I decided to upgrade to a GTX 1070 and in some cases yes the i5 6500 bottle-necked the GTX 1070 to the point that I'm getting less than 60 fps and GPU utilization is under 50% looking at you GTA 5
