  1. My 8 year old AIO was showing its age, not being able to cool my shiny (literally, it's lapped) not at all obsolete FX 8320 at 4.2GHz anymore. So I sliced it open and shoved in the used transmission cooler from when my Volvo had an automatic. Used distilled water with a splash of coolant and a dash of water wetter. Spent 30 minutes getting all the bubbles out. The result is a max of 50c under full load, even better than that time I tried liquid metal. I know it's capable of 5.2ghz stable with ridiculous voltage but I'm gonna aim for 4.8.
  2. Bit late, I fucked everything up and reinstalled windows. New problem is it crashes whenever I try to install AMD drivers.

  5. Windows 10 is fucking retarded. I used it for a year. I get literally nothing out of the new stuff it offers and it's been way more problematic than 8.1. Plus 10 takes eons to boot.
  6. 240 turbo got totaled by dumbass Camry so now I gots me a Ferd. Turbo motor is gonna go into my 240 diesel once I buyback from insurance.
  7. Windows 8.1 x64.. I think my specs are still in my sig. Yesterday it randomly crashed and when it tries to boot normally it goes through the booting screen but before the login screen I get a bunch of vertical green lines on my main monitor and the other one is blank. Completely frozen. Safe mode works totally fine, I'm using it to write this. Tried disabling all the startup services in msconfig and nothing. Stopped all startup applications, reset BIOS, uninstalled GPU drivers, took out one GPU, reseated RAM, etc. Nothing but safe mode works. Windows startup repair doesn't do shit. I had to burn and use an 8.1 install disk to try startup repair because when I try to use the one in the OS it requires my password and then says it's wrong. I even made a second admin account with the password "ass" and it still said it was wrong. Finally broke down and hit system refresh, and guess what. Requires my password but says it's wrong when it ain't fuckin wrong. I'm about two seconds from going to buy a Mac.
  8. Just bought my second 245. This one has less rust, a turbo, a locker, and the sloppiest shifter ever.
  9. I'm just sitting over here with my soldered AMD. If you do delid it, be really careful. Don't use a hammer like I did on an old Core 2. Ended up cracking the die in half..

  12. Oh yeah, we also have an 04 Maxima 3.5SE 6 speed. Pretty fun car, except it tries to murder you in the snow.. It's waiting for us to put in an o2 sensor and get it emissions tested. Volvo wagons though.. I've loved these cars forever. Had to have one. Bought this back in May and I love it, even with all its holes.
  13. Snow tires are a lot of help in the winter, definitely worth the $120 I paid. Far better than my mom's FWD RAV4. Haven't been stuck yet, but I got stuck moving the RAV out of the driveway and back in so I could get my car out.. Also RWD with a stick is fun as hell.
  14. Got a Pixel so I've been taking pretty pics of the wagon. Turbo is still sitting on my toolbox, waiting for exhaust to be shoved into it.. Might just be getting another less rusty 240 anyway.
  15. Not a bootloop, I don't even get to see a boot screen. Recovery options just plain don't work.
  16. My totally stock un-rooted HTC One M8 seems to have totally fucked itself while sitting in my pocket. I used it like normal, shoved it in my pocket, then later without even moving from my seat I took it out and it's off. Sometimes I can get it to show a battery charging symbol or get it into fastboot mode, but all the options just result in a black screen again and I can't flash it back to stock. This is the first nice phone I've had.. Now I'm back to my Photon Q..
  17. Turbo itself arrives tomorrow. Getting ALL the turbo parts off a Volvo 780 Bertone, so it's a Turbo+ system with extra chooch factor. 175HP and more torque factory rating. 1990+ manifold paired with the higher compression of my NA engine and it should be pumping 185HP before I touch the boost. On my $200 rusted to hell wagon. It's gonna be the tiiits.
  18. I got my car running really good again. Duct taped a 960 MAF in to replace the fried one that was causing it to run like poo, fixed the shitty wiring, all new mounts, etc etc. Runs awesomely now and no more rattling noises. Then my alternator belts got loose with the radio cranked, it dies at a stop sign, and my starter shits the bed. Awesome. It just spins now without engaging. So until I get my used one from a Volvo forum it's being roll started. Good thing our street is downhill, I guess. 960 MAF: The old engine mount: I made plans to buy a Volvo 780 Bertone engine as soon as I can afford the shipping and a hoist/stand. 175HP from the factory, VS my 115. It's the same engine, just a later model with much beefier rods. And a turbo, of course.
  19. Painted my windshield wiper arms and started prepping for painting my wheels. Got the paint and wire wheeled as much as I could with them still on the car. Didn't get any pics, but they look a hell of a lot nicer without 30 years of grime from being under hubcaps. Earlier this week I did my rear shocks (Monroe rebate going on, $90 for a set of shocks and struts and I'll get a $75 rebate.) Tried to put in one of my new NGK plugs, but Rockauto sent me plugs with the wrong kind of end so my boots won't go on them. Oh well. Also got new air and fuel filters which need to be put on. Tomorrow I'm getting my odometer gear and new regulator/brushes for the dead alternator. Also ordered new hood hinges and a cheapo tachometer that I can hopefully put in one of the blank covers next to the gauge cluster. (OEM Volvo tachs are $50+) Gotta see if I can rent spring compressors so that I can do the struts.
  20. Well, I dunno how they'll hold up. The current ones need replacing (Probably original) so for a net cost of $15 and a nice warranty, I'm all for the Monroes.
  21. Just so you guys know, Monroe shocks has a nice rebate deal going on. Bought a set of shocks and struts for my $200 240DL for $90 and I'll get a $75 rebate. (On Rockauto.) Struts and one shock arrive tomorrow, and the last shock arrives next week. Because Rockauto. Also got air/fuel filters and a single lug nut to replace one because for some reason it's extra long. Gonna go to a junkyard on Saturday to look for a bunch of crap. (OD relay, gauge cluster, hood hinges, and so on..) Volvo 240s have a hot air intake for emissions reasons to heat the engine up faster. My thermostat flapper thing that switches from hot to cold intakes when it warms up was broken, so it was getting nothing but piping hot air through a 1.5" pipe. Deleted that crap and modified the cold intake a bit. Also did a much needed oil change with some thick 15w40 and a nice fancy filter. Oil light at idle is gone and it's much happier now. I thought that the washer was still on my bolt because I didn't drop it into the drain pan. I was wrong. The drain bolt has no washer on it, but it doesn't seem to be leaking so I'll just keep an eye on it. My scooter is still around, waiting for me to put the new parts on. Right now it tops out at a bit over 45MPH, I have new gears and a torque driver for it but my car has been taking up all my attention.
