  1. ok so since nobody replies, i closed eyed downloaded and installed the samsung nvme driver for 900 series nvme, installed it and to my suprise, it was installed! can anyone confirm if its properly installed? i dont see any smoke so i hope its properly installed (see attached photo).. so, what benefits will i get having this driver? how will i know? i red some articles and forums saying a 970 evo with samsung nvme driver can be faster than 970 pro with just a standard windows nvme driver.. i hope someone can enlighten me, im really eager to learn. thanks in advanced! cheers!
  2. hi guys, so i bought this samsung pm981 512gb pulled out from a new dell xps laptop. i cant say no for the price of 90$ (US) from the laptop owner. i plugged it at my desktop pc mobo, worked perfectly, its insanely fast loading my games. i also feel like it eliminated micro stutters, games feel smoother. i also put a heatsink with the cute cute small fan for active cooling. temp is around 55 deg C max with ambient room temp of ave 27 deg C. my question is; 1. is there any samsung driver that i can install to further improve its performance? atm i never installed any driver, i just plugged and play so if i understand correctly, its running with windows 10 nvme driver. 2. is there a huge difference running with windows 10 driver vs samsung driver (if theres any samsung driver for this oem nvme) 3. will i just be fine running it with windows driver? any advice is well appreciated. im not an IT guy nor computer related worker so i really need advice. my system: (if it helps) mobo: msi z370m gaming pro ac cpu: i5 8600k cpu cooler: corsair h100i v2 gpu: msi gaming x 1080 ram: 2x8gb ddr4 psu: cooler master v750 full mod. and a pc case full of noctua fans. thanks in advanced. cheers!
  3. So i just finished an hour of prime95 test just now (Blend Test), it didn't crash nor stopped, HWinfo64 never showed any kind of throttling. However, a couple of cores showed max temp of 92 at some point, but most of the time its between 75-85 deg. Is this healthy? Also i noticed the TDP from XTU running on the background, I saw it showed briefly some 115W TDP, i remember the TDP of i5 8600k is just 95W..is it ok? it never registered any throttling due to this though. and mostly it sits at 80W TDP.. and lastly, my OC is 5ghz, how come when i run prime95, CPU-z and XTU only showed 4.7ghz @ 100% utilization? does it mean it only tested 4.7ghz instead of 5ghz?
  4. I actually have prime 95, but i red articles saying that its a ridiculously unrealistic test program. so i chose XTU, yeah not so heavy but more realistic loading? ill try out asus real bench. any advice how long should I run it to make sure everything is stable?
  5. Hi, Thanks for the sharing Your OC result, its a relief to kbow my volatge for 5ghz is just fine. How about my temps, is it on the safe side? Also, thanks for the tip that i will benefit in 5ghz speed for CAD.
  6. Hi Guys, So it’s my first time to do overclocking and will want to get Your opinion and advice on the results I got. Please bear with me on reading this. My system as follows: CPU: i5 8600k, OC’ed at 5ghz, 1.325v CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i v2 (push config, intake at front, changed fans to noctua nf-f12 ippc 3000) MOBO: MSI Z370m gaming pro AC PSU: Cooler Master V750 Gold Full Modular GPU: Zotac GTX 1070 Mini RAM: 2x8 GB DDR4 2133 (from my old system) PC Case: Tecware nexus m Fans: 2 aio rad fans intake (noctua), 2 exhaust at top, 1 exhaust at rear Ambient Temp: average 25 degree Celsius Program used for stability test: Intel XTU (im testing an intel chip, so makes sense to use an intel program?) run it for 1 and a half hour Temp Monitoring App: HWinfo 64 Others: CPU-Z, Heaven Benchmark So here’s are my enquiries: See attached screen shot a) Will I be fine at 5ghz, 1.325V? At full OCed load via intel XTU, max temp is at 74 degrees, idle at below 40 deg, Average at 65-70 deg. Voltage barely hits 1.32V, max actual TDP is 80W b) I have another OC profile which is just 4.5 ghz @ 1.26V, should I stick to this? I don’t do rendering nor video editing. Just some heavy Autocad and 2-3 hours gaming at night. Any significant gain from 4.5ghz to 5ghz for my usage? c) Before this test (on screen shot) I OC’ed my RAM from 2133mhz to 2667 mhz via the mobo feature which gives preset OC setting, and I get the blue screen of death with any speed-voltage combination. When I disable it and just returned to back 2133mhz, everything seems to be normal and smooth (so far). Can You educate me what is the reason behind this? I really want to learn new things like this. (my not in a PC/IT line of work). just a casual gamer. d) Any advice regarding my case-fan setup? When I run heaven benchmark, CPU usage is below 40%, temps are below 65deg, but my GPU is around 72deg max (not overclocked, fan curve are set at 100% at 60deg). Thanks in advanced Guys, Cheers!
  7. Hi Green, They are higher now like 10-15 more fps in most games i play. CPU frequency from 6700 is ave 3800 mhz and 4100 mhz with 8600k (non OC'ed).. Same GPU usage @ 98-99% which makes me wonder maybe there's a bottle neck happening on either CPU or GPU.. and also im confused since i was kindof expecting less CPU usage since 8600k have more physical cores than than 6700 (yeah im dumb to think it works like that hahaha thats why i came here)..
  8. No Worries Man, its not obligatory. Maybe someone with more free time might be able to explain it further. thanks
  9. Hi Carbide, Thanks for the reply, I also get good fps and enjoys my 144hz gsync monitor @ 1080p with my current system. I really don't worry much, i just want to learn the basic principle of cpu usage, how it works given different cpu specs. this will help me understand my PC more.
  10. Hi Guys, I just recently upgraded my PC, but im still in the process of learning things so I'm here to get enlightenment. Before i have a cheap mobo which previously died and its paired with an i7 6700 (non K). then i sold the 6700 and bought an MSI z370m + i5 8600k and its really awesome. I havent OC'ed it yet as i still don't feel the need to. My query is this, before with 6700, my cpu usage on games are just like 30-40%, but with the i5 8600k, its like 50-60%, sometimes briefly fluctuates to 90%. Please explain to me what's happening. Is it the hyper threading thing? Because i'm pretty sure all articles I read says its not utilized in games. Also, i5 8600k got 2 more physical cores than i7 6700, so i'm confused as how is it possible..is higher cpu usage a good thing or bad? Another theory i was thinking is that the 6700 is bottle necking the gpu, which im not sure if possible. my GPU is just a lowly 1070 mini (zotac). I only game at 1080p (with gsync). Thanks in advanced for those who will reply, really appreciate the additional knowledge You will bestow upon me. Cheers!
  11. thanks for the tip. maybe ill just wait and save up a bit more for next gen gpu..
  12. exactly why i want to upgrade, my monitor asks for more power ?
  13. Hi Sir, Thanks for Your input. i actually upgraded my monitor to acer predator xb241h couple of months ago and i feel that im not able to maximize it with my system in some vames so i am thinking to upgrade some stuff.. so maybe ill just wait a bit.. new gen gpu will surely be expensive though.. i cant even afford a 1080ti ?
  14. Hi Guys, After saving up for few months and will be selling few PC components, next month I will finally have a budget to give some love and upgrade my PC. I need advice which upgrade will give me most benefit. Current PC Specs: Processor: i7 6700 (nonK) GPU: Zotac gtx 1070 mini Mobo: Asus h110m PSU: Silverstone 500W Ram: 2x 8GB ddr4 2133 SSD: 240 gb WD (installed OS) HDD: Toshiba 1TB Upgrade options: a) Upgrade GPU from 1070 to 1080 (I will sell the 1070) b) Upgrade Mobo to z370i + i5 8600k (I will sell the i7 6700k) Which upgrade option is better? I use PC for some heavy 2d and sometimes 3d autocad during day and AAA gaming during night. Please enlighten me. Thanks in advanced. Cheers!
  15. Ok So I decided to wait and save a bit for a z370i + i5 8600k. I have few new sets of questions that I need your help to answer: 1. Can I just plug in the following and will work properly without any additional complicated settings and like nothing happened? a) Gpu (zotac gtx 1070 mini) b) 2x 8gb ram ddr4 2133mhz c) 240 gb SSD (installed OS windows 10) d) 1TB HDD (for files) 2. Will my 500W PSU enough (whether I overclock or not) Thanks in advanced! Cheers!
