  1. True, and Samsung took action to resolve... however whilst you can't expect perfection, even in premium products, you can still hold the manufacturer responsible when glitches happen :-)
  2. Galaxy S8 owners... you guys n girls ever had a problem with moisture / mould under the glass back? I've had mine for just over 2 months and am in love with the thing! However a couple of week ago, I noticed when cleaning the fingerprints from the back of the device, that some marks wouldn't disappear On closer inspection there was what appeared to be either mould or moist grime underneath the glass on the back of the phone! To cut a long story short, the phone was sent to a Samsung repair centre, with a print-out of the issue (2nd picture) with a grumpy note stating the problem! They sent it back repaired (they replaced the rear assembly of the phone) Happy Samsung owner again, however the doubt remains... how could a premium smartphone stated to be waterproof, let in moisture under the glass? Seal problem? Manufacturing glitch? The phone has never been immersed in water and is kept in a case when outside. Anyone else had this or a similar issue with the S8?
  3. OMG, just installed Amphetamine... its the dogs dangliez! So removed caffeine!
  4. Your referring to the client or server side which isa turned off by default?
  5. Agreed mate One of the "downsides" of being early adopters of the latest os
  6. Yeah, my googling revealed the same article... too much faff to be a usable solution though... looking for an app which essentially lets you choose which apps route through vpn and which don't... that would be ideal ?
  7. I must admit, one app on my machines which still doesn't play nice, is Parallels Desktop... the company have attempted multiple patches, but still get graphical glitches switching between screens, which has been acknowledged by the app maker as a problem between their latest version and high Sierra
  8. Ah yeah, just re-read your original post... doh! So your stable now, but from what I understand, after the initial upgrade you had some apps which didn't play nice huh
  9. Did you buy your machine new? From apple? Retailer? Ebay? Would seriously consider requesting a replacement mate... normally I'm up for a good troubleshooting session, but from what you've said, the machines hurting
  10. Most of the time I do... have a sweet bluetooth speaker in the mancave.
  11. Dude.. I picked up a MacBook Pro 2017 with Touch Bar a week or so ago, to use as a work laptop (already had MacBook 12) No glitches, crashes, overheating.... from your description sounds as though you have some very unusual problems for a mac Have you tried a clean install of high Sierra? I personally don't like upgrading my macOS to a new OS... always format and start afresh I presume you didn't have the same problems under Sierra?
  12. ISSUE:Work from home a lot nowadays and vpn into the company using Cisco any connect. However whilst connected to work vpn, there are restrictions in play, for example personal email is blocked, music streaming sites including spotify is blocked.WORKAROUND:I found that starting a virtual copy of windows 7 / 10 in Parallels, there is a function to use a bridged network connection which effectively works to bypass the VPN connection running on the MacHowever this workaround is not ideal as having to run up a virtual OS just to stream music is a pain.I also googled manual solutions, and they need a lot of scripting and commands which need running every time you fire up the VPNASK:Basically I'm looking for an automated solution software or otherwise to effectively perform vpn split tunnelling on my MacBookAnyone got any suggestions? If it helps, I run a Synology NAS which may offer another workaround.. It is lazy of me, as most of the time, I connect my phone to my bluetooth speaker and stream music that way ?
  13. Meh @ shocking revelation! To the peeps who like to hide from the world... run to the hills! I personally think that location data gathering is great, for one reason... when your on a long journey and using google maps as your satnav, it provides almost real-time traffic updates.... really useful when Im coming home from work and need to make a deviation to avoid the traffic! Or visiting family in Scotland, helps avoid douchey pileups
  14. Initially I only listed tools to bring back the familiar windows functionality Other essential apps include * Microsoft Office (the macOS version is much nicer than native windows version) * CleanMyMac (I missed ccleaner) - find it really useful for removing software properly * Parallells Desktop (awesome virtualisation on the Mac) * Flume (pretty slick instagram app for the Mac) * Airmail 3 (the default mail app just seems lacking)
  15. Looks pretty sweet... thanks for the heads up ?
  16. A couple off years ago, I joined the macOS club, after been a windoze die-hard for years. Drooling over the shiny Mac lappys aside, was quite the proverbial culture shock to be honest! And yes, I still hate Finder, it sux compared to Windows Explorer. In my first couple of weeks, I found myself putting together a list of apps, some free some not, to ease me into the macOS world. I guess this forum posting will act as springboard for others to comment on their favourite / essential Mac apps ???
