Gorou92 reacted to SteveGrabowski0 in 4070ti - opinions
4070 Ti falls off at 4k, due to memory bandwidth if I remember right. It performs mostly around 3090 Ti levels at 1080p and 1440p, but at 4k its performance is about on par with a 3090. It's kind of low on VRAM for 4k too at 12GB. Just buy the best gpu you can get without it hurting too much on price. If I was in the market for a 4k gpu and didn't want to spend on the 4080 I'd probably pick the 7900 XT over the 4070 Ti for a gaming build since it's 10% faster in raster at 4k for the same price while also having 20GB of VRAM that will help it age better. If you do a lot of work that depends on CUDA then throw that recommendation out the window, but for strictly gaming 7900 XT seems like a much better buy to me at 4k for $800 vs the 4070 Ti.
EDIT: Of course if you're not in the US my recommendation may not hold any water since I know AMD gpus can be more expensive elsewhere

right now 7900xt and 7900xtx are the best price/performance GPUs, but they lack in ray tracing and some people say DLSS is better than FSR (do your own research), if you only want an Nvidia GPU then 4070ti is the best bang for the buck right now but its still shit (AMD are also shit price wise) and you may want to wait until last gen gpus stock is sold, by then most people predicts there will price cuts.

Gorou92 got a reaction from char3327 in How can I know or when should I start expecting my SSD to start dying?
what do you fear ?
- losing the data on the SSD
- losing the mac installation and program settings and stuff like that
- having a non working laptop for a period if the SSD dies
the answer depends on which one is relevant to you

Gorou92 reacted to brob in New Intel CPUs incoming?
If one wants a new system immediately, inventory is pretty much limited to Intel. At least at the upper end of desktop cpu offerings.
Besides, performance gpu are rare and selling well above manufacturers' suggest price.
So it only makes sense to wait.
Why would that matter? Surely cpu are bought for the performance not the size. 😆

just wait and save some money with current gpu supply issues you'll either get an old bad value gpu or pay a scalper fee on newer cards

Gorou92 reacted to Lurick in How do I Get a Ryzen 5000 Supported Board Without an Older CPU?
It's got a BIOS Flashback button the back so you just download the latest BIOS from MSI and put it on a USB drive (following instructions for formatting the drive correctly of course) and then connect up power, plug in the USB drive, and turn on the board and hit the Flashback button and it will update the BIOS without a CPU or memory even needing to be installed.

Gorou92 reacted to Slottr in Does the z490 gaming pro come with ethernet drivers?
Drivers aren't on the board, drivers come through the operating system. Windows has a basic package of drivers that it utilizes on base installs. I haven't installed windows 10 and had an issue with ether on any board so far

Gorou92 got a reaction from Tan3l6 in SSD to NVME ?
you won't feel a difference between sata and nvme ssd in gaming
maybe in the future when games start utilizing the RTX IO and microsoft directsotrage but that still years ahead since the development tools for having this feature just got out to games developers and games take years so wait while ssd prices go down and better pcie 4.0 nvme get released to really benefit from an nvme ssd

Gorou92 got a reaction from rain in july in is 750w psu enough for a i7 10700k and a 3080?
yeah its enough
a 16 core ryzen and rtx 3080 only pulled 500 to 550 watts
this in gaming
but in worse case scenario (full cpu and gpu usage) i think the I7 overclocked doesn't exceed 250 watts and
and a 3080 overclocked doesn't exceed 350 so 600watt total so of course 750 watt is enough
