  1. Why not, I'd get a board, make a working system and sell it
  2. Thank you all very much for your replies! Ended up getting a bargain on a i5 2400, p8p67m pro and 4gb hyperx 1600 module. Looking around for some more RAM now. Consider case closed.
  3. Sorry, got a bit carried away. My apologies. But that's the thing. It's more expensive in my country, take the price in your link and multiply it by roughly 1.7 and you'll get the price what I'll pay for it here. I actually checked right now and yes, it's about that much more expensive. Taking in account the current economical situation it'll take me more than 8 months to save up for that measly set, and that's if nothing unexpected happens and prices doesn't go up (both of which is a pretty rare occurrence).
  4. Cost is a BIG thing. With most of the general public living close to, at, or below the poverty threshold, jobs disappearing like flies and whole cities slowly dying, and only wealthy people left being scumbag CEOs and corrupt government tools, nobody never knows what tomorrow may bring, but that's besides the point, so, in other words, yes, cost is a BIG thing. That's why I'm so up for grabbing this thing if it's a sensible upgrade.
  5. Hi! Now, I'm by no means a dumbass when it comes to computer tech, been fixing local PCs since I was a kid, just haven't had much experience with or did much research into AMD side of things, and thought, with the lack of time and whatnot, that it would be more effective to ask rather than dig it all up myself. I'm currently a proud owner of good ol' Q9400, OC'd @ 3.2GHz rock stable, coupled with 8GB DDR2-800 and 1050Ti, which is still quite a beast for my needs, runs everything I throw at it at a minimum of stable 30 FPS. Having said that, there are times when I see the CPU bottleneck, and at times even quite heavily, so I've been having thoughts of upgrading. Money is tight in the backwater holes of eastern Europe, so I'm totally OK with buying used, that's how I got most of my current PC's parts (some from eBay/Ali, some locally). Now, I can get one of two motherboards for 20-30€, I think they're new even, but quite possible they have no warranty. One being N68C-GS FX and the other is a K9N6PGM2-V2. Also, I've had my eyes on FX-6300 for the longest time. Should be compatible with these boards from what I gather, but is it a sensible upgrade to my current setup? Maybe there's a better CPU choice out there? Will have to find some DDR3 RAMs if I'm going this way tho. Most of all, does this even make sense in 2018? Not really following the latest trends, as most of the tech I deal with daily is from DDR2/3 age. Thanks!
  6. Okay, so that tells me exactly... nothing, sadly. I got from Slottr that I can hook up a 3.5 to RCA converter between the PC and receiver and then hook the sub & speakers up to the receiver, but what's this about optical? So no doing it without the receiver? I'd like to take it out of the picture if possible, it's big and bulky and takes up a lot of real estate, ew, lol.
  7. Hi! So as random as life gets, today I randomly became an owner of a Sony STR-DB2000 receiver with a missing remote, Sony SA-WMS367 7.1 active powered sub and satellites set with one of the surround satellites missing, and two Bose Studiocraft 300 ST 3-way speakers. So the idea is, obviously, to hook the subwoofer up to my PC, best case scenario if I can use the two Bose speakers with it. If not, oh well, let's settle for a couple of satellites, it's far from possible to set up any kind of surround in my "cave". And so the question, obviously, is, how do I do it? I don't even know where to start honestly. What cables do I need, how do I hook it up, do I need the receiver at all? Is it possible at all? All the wattages and impedances and watts per channel and all the whatnot I've seen while researching has my head spinning already. So any input is highly appreciated, this is a totally alien territory to me. Or maybe I'm just overthinking it to oblivion, that has been known to happen. Happy to answer any questions and provide any additional info/data/photos or whatever is required. Thanks!
  8. Think of it as a Mass Effect reboot, similar to what Tomb Raider did a few years ago. On a related note - it really pains me to see that because of all the hate Bioware is undecided whether they will continue Mass Effect at all. While something like CoD poops out a game a year and swims in money. Where's the justice, huh...
  9. Maybe the problem is that people are taking Andromeda with a "Mass Effect sequel" mindset. I know, I know, don't use the name if you don't want to get compared. But still, in my opinion it's majorly underrated. Even so, all the previous ME games have had lots of flaws and issues too. Didn't keep me from enjoying them!
  10. Oh, Mad Max, right, checking that out too. Hitman and Wolfenstein, eh, might as well. As for ME Andromeda, my GTX 650 handles it amazingly well and I'm enjoying it quite a lot. I don't get it, why is everyone hating on it?
  11. Oh, okay. Dishonored 2 is on my must-play list ever since I first heard about it. Thanks tho.
  12. Wait, whaat? Dishonored 3?? No, actually, I don't need to like them. I really liked them when I was a kid, but I played them to three galaxies away and back, and nowadays I'm just getting sick of them. Last racing game I actually liked was NFS The Run.
  13. Is any Call of Duty after Black Ops 2 worth playing for the single-player campaign? Not really interested in multiplayer, if i want multiplayer I play Borderlands in co-op with some friends or some battle royale game.
  14. I've played Avorion which is kinda similar from what I gather. It's fun, but lacks a storyline in my opinion. But I'll check those out too, thanks! Doom and MGS5 looks fun. I've played the first Bioshock, never got what the big hype was about. Tomb Raider reboot was good, gonna check the new one out. Thanks!
