  1. When I asked about updating operating system, I was referring to upgrading from windows 8/8.1 to windows 10.
  2. Have you tried to switch to another power profile? Have you got any power saving applications installed as they can overrule any other windows power plans. Have you updated your operating system? There might be some conflict with the software that asus have preinstalled with the power saving, and therefore turning off the screen.
  3. They scrapped the plans hours later amid clashes between security forces and protester. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-50095448?intlink_from_url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology&link_location=live-reporting-story
  4. Hi, Can you clarify if you are trying to use your phone mobile data on your PC or do you want to use your PC internet connection to get internet on your phone. I'll assume its the first. So what your saying is that when you have your phone plugged into the PC and go into the settings then usb tethering and turn that it, it turns off you mobile data? If this is software side on your phone then you can flash your phone. (Please be aware that this will most likely void your warranty). Or Use some tethering app to see if you can avoid this. Or I would recommend speaking to At&t and telling that you plan to use another provider on that phone and you need that "restriction" taken off. I have never seen this happen, network providers shouldn't be able to do that at least in the EU they can't.
  5. You want to restart your router then run a speed test while making sure no one else uses the internet. If this does not match the speed your paying for, call you ISP. Also please note that there are two units of measuring internet speeds. MBps and Mbps. Steam uses MBps and ISP providers use Mbps. 8Mbps=1MBps
  6. Its scary if you think about the amount of power google has with just its search engine. Just think of that if google abused this or is abusing this to hide certain news (about themselves) or make news about a competitor top of the search results. Just for this i'm glad google have some sort of competition (bing), which i only use for images atm since google went ahead and removed having access to the large scale image. Which bing still has.
  7. They will always be someone who will have access to it, but doesnt mean they will or want to. ^ Like you said its all about whos less likely to try to spy on you.
  8. Firstly Changing Hardware can cause driver issues and therefore can explain the fact that the PC won't boot up with an installation done on a different PC, with Windows 7 and newer they are quite good at having generic drivers that will work with most/all hardware, I don't think Vista has the same capability to do this. I would suggest trying to reseat the Ram and trying another hard-drive, although i don't think that its the issue since you have managed to get windows XP installed and running without issues. Have you tried another windows installation on 32 Bit other than the windows XP and yeah i know that CPU supports 64bit, however in the unlikely chance that the BIOS isn't at the updated version that allows it to utilise this? Also try a reseting the BIOS.
  9. No, unlicensed, as in they don't have a retail/oem windows licence key. Unactivated usually refers to products that have to be activated to work. The reason windows allows unactivated windows work are for testing purposes. There are OEM Windows licences that are technically supposed to be only for PC Builders, however they are not enforced to my knowledge.
  10. As i was trying to find a reliable source for this, i found there are possible workarounds to halt the shutdowns. I don't think, i can post links or details regarding that since it would be bypassing software protection of sorts.
  11. A router with a sim card slot. an example is this https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Network-Routers/Huawei-High-speed-Wireless-Configuration-Required/B013P15G4K
  12. Any unlicensed Windows 10 installations restart every hour as a way to ensure end users buy windows licences. Time the shutdowns to confirm that this is the case. (if it really is not an hourly) I can't find an article from microsoft for this.
  13. what operating system does that laptop use? You can talk her through it.
  14. You should use the following tool to check the stats for your PC Hardware while in the Game. HWiNFO You can also stress test your components with the following tools and comparing them with the same hardware info others have posted online. CPU-Z GPU-Z CrystalDiskInfo
