Yeah i'm going to weigh in on this just to clarify:
 
If you have an existing problem that's causing faults inside Windows (in this case, network adapters disappearing) then it is almost always Windows itself that is the problem. Using Windows to perform a Windows refresh/reset just clears out junk data and uninstalls a bunch of stuff. Most of the system files, .dll's, reg entries etc are left untouched (this is so that Windows doesn't bork itself whilst 'self repairing' - that would be a little embarrassing for Microsoft after all).
 
The only real way to fix an issue like this is to completely format the hard drive you're using and install Windows fresh, just make sure you back up anything you want to keep (if you don't have another hard drive spare there are a bunch of cloud services with reasonable free tiers which should mean you can store a total of a few hundred GB's).

If your board is a year or two old, I can guarantee the chipset drivers included on the CD are at least as old, and tbh, probably older. Get your PC plugged into your home router via ethernet and download the most up to date from the manufacturers website, or use a different device and place them on a USB stick.

Not strictly true, I manage the IT for our UK office but also a satellite office in Germany - I install Windows for the germans using the same image, and then simply change the language packs.
 
Make sure all of the following are in English. (and obviously all the correct language packs are installed)

You are basically saying "if you are OK with product placements then you should be OK with literal commercial breaks in the middle of your movie you're watching at the cinema". It's apples and oranges.

You are right to suspect that this virus has got into something beyond the OS/System files. I have to agree the only way you're going to get rid of this is to do a complete format and reinstall (and by complete reformat I mean create a bootable windows USB, boot from it, press shift + F10 to open cmd, then use diskpart to delete the partition and format it, then download DBAN, place that on a usb stick, boot from it and do a hardcore multipass format on the offending disk) and only then look to reinstall windows.

CPU Fan header plugged in the right spot? I've never used that mobo you've listed but i've seen ones before that just wont even post without the CPU fan plugged in
 
Otherwise, @Canada EH covered pretty much everything!

Next time it restarts, open the start menu and type eventvwr.msc and look through the event logs, there should be a record of whatever forced the machine to reboot - either application/task based or due to a kernel power loss or something similar. Take a look at whatever error it was (probably an 0xSomething number) and do some googling =)

Well cardboard would be better but I'm guessing the tolerances are quite small. Paper doesn't auto-ignite until around 230c iirc so I think you'd be running into problems way before that if it got even half way to that temperature! That being said, this is definitely a bodge and I probably wouldn't suggest doing it.
I'd say just send the heat sink back and run without it. Its unlikely you'd actually need it - or - if you're looking to use it for aesthetics then maybe take a dremel to the heat sink and customize it yourself so that the clearance isn't an issue in the first place (this is what i'd do)
 
But yeah, if you super want to use it and don't want to customize it - attaching it without the pads so the seat sink is touching the chips is technically fine (just no metal on metal) but not really recommended, a slip of paper on the offending side would be 'better' but your best option is to send back and get something that works, or mod the heat sink.

This is a true shame cuz this game looked like it would be pretty decent without the lootbox bullshit.

I do not mind origin, never had issue's with it (less then Steam).
But EA their recent micro transaction based games are .. getting worse.
First SimCity, A SINGLEPLAYER GAME .. needed an ACTIVE internet connection. GG.
Then BF1 not getting content updates .. it is boring as hell ..
Payback multiplayer not being free roam, again deluxe edition gives you more XP/Money or something like that isn't the point of a game to take time? Not to finish it quicker ... lol
