Back then they would semi custom build the pc to your specs,So model and specs are not known tell you open it up or turn it on.And yes they made their cases in a few colors back then as well.

If you want to save some money,The 6950xts are all under 700 us now.And maybe 10% slower if that in some games at 1440p.

andrewmp6 reacted to Princess Luna in CPU for Radeon RX 7900XT
It'll likely be fine, specially if you're going to play more graphically intensive games at high resolutions. CPU is secondary, as long as it hits good enough framerate and it doesn't feel sluggish you should be fine.

The 5800X3D is a good option if you want to only change CPUs without buying anything else, I would only consider it after a month or so using what you already have and seeing for yourself whether it's enough or not.

Upgrade CPU only if you will get insufficient performance. In general AMD cards don't really struggle with CPU limited scenarios nearly as much as NVIDIA cards where their driver overhead can cut you down by 15%-20%.

andrewmp6 reacted to GuiltySpark_ in does the nv7 come with fans
Those are $30 premium fans and just including a few would significantly increase the price. If someone didn't want to use D30's, they'd be spending extra for no reason. Included fans are more common on budget cases for new builders. This is really not a new builder kind of case. You're putting a custom loop in this system, right?

andrewmp6 reacted to FK3 in Is the 4070 Ti a reasonable buy as a 'budget' 4K gaming card?
I recently built a new system and used a PNY XLR8 4070 Ti as the GPU.  I can say that for 1440p gaming at medium to high settings it was okay to great, depending on the title.  However, when the Resident Evil 4 Remake was released, I played for about 3 hours before I decided to change my GPU before the return period expired.  It has since been swapped for a Powercolor Red Devil 7900 XTX, and even after having to add another $200 to cover the difference, I am glad I did.

The 4070 Ti was not a bad card, or even a bad value in my opinion.  The change to the 7900 XTX was simply put, a better value and ultimately a better choice.  As far as a 3080 or a 4070 Ti, I can say that my previous card was a 3080, and the 4070 Ti, not only moved me to the new platform, to take advantage of future advances and driver changes that the 30 series cards may not take advantage of, but the performance did feel smoother, and it did run cooler.

Well, give the 4070Ti a shot.  I'd personally use a 7900xtx or 4080/4090 for 4K gaming, but the tricks may help and setting tweaks.

I just bought a 6950xt nitro,At 1440p gaming its still a amazing card. Some older games like gta5 i have to lock the fps at 144hz or it runs too fast and stutters some.Gta5 1440p max settings i see 180fps.I didn't see the 4070ti being worth the extra money to me plus having to spend 30 dollars for a power cable not to use the adapter. If i was going to spend that much money i would have went for a 7900xt or the 7900xtx.

if you want preforamce taking off the fans and zip fans to it would be way better then flipping the fan.  but would that be enough to get a boots bin probably not.

Will you get better performance? Yes.
Is the game the issue for your problems? Also, most likely yes.

You will almost always get more performance by grabbing the latest and greatest, but that's a great way to burn through cash unnecessarily.
If money isn't an issue, then sure. Go for it. But if that's the route you're going and your current financial situation I'd upgrade the entire rig.

If so then you might want to go to am4 and get a not too cheap not too expensive b550 mobo and r7 5800x3d to really push the limits of the 4070 ti or 4080 and you can keep the ddr4 ram if you are keen on changing platforms. If you do just be sure to create a new windows install on your boot drive

andrewmp6 reacted to QuantumSingularity in 6700xt VS 3070
All that matters is what was the 3070 doing before you get it? If it mined crypto then the 6700XT is a no-brainer. If you want VR also the 6700XT is the no-brainer. RT isn;t an argument in this class of GPUs so you decide whether you wanna take the risk. Personally, for that kind of money i'd never consider a 2nd hand GPU.

andrewmp6 reacted to Dukesilver27- in Need help with choosing a GPU
If you're playing in 1080p, all those choices would be bottlenecked by the CPU, worst one is RX 6700 XT. However the other choices offer bad value for money.
So, if you intend to upgrade your CPU later, 6700 XT offers the best value (US pricing), therefore the best choice. If you don't, then go with the weakest one, which is RTX 3060 12GB, but RX 6600(XT) is usually cheaper than 3060 12GB, and faster, the PCIE interface is mostly a non issue.
So, either 6700 XT if plan to upgrade CPU and if not then RX 6600 or XT, value for money is everything.

And no, bottleneck calculators are pure BS. Too many variables for a simple calculator to calculate.

    1. DDU Nvidia driver. Shutdown.
    2. Remove Nvidia GPU, plug in AMD GPU.
    3. Install latest AMD driver from AMD.com
    4. Full install if you want all the bells and whistle.
    5. Use the card at stock settings for couple of days to make sure it work perfectly out of the box.

For tweaking just use the bundled Radeon Software. You can do all sorts of thing with it.

andrewmp6 reacted to Sir Beregond in 6950xt vs 4070ti
You're using user benchmark as a source? Joke right?

Given the price differential, the 6950XT would be my choice, no question. The 4070Ti does not give you $500/$600 worth of additional performance and is just generally overpriced as a product. The 6950XT at $1100 NZD is roughly equivalent to $690 USD, so that's a pretty good price for that card. That 4070 Ti on the other hand at $1600-$1700 NZD is roughly $1000-$1100 USD. Not even close to a good price.

andrewmp6 reacted to Shimejii in Corsair cable vs nvidia adapter for 4090
Its not LESS cabling that you should be worried about, its Cabling that doesnt need an adapter. Remember its a new standard of cable, so the different pin outs and such are for the proper 12v cables, where the older 8 pin has the different 12v amounts. Since you need 4 8 pin cables to get the amount needed. the 12v HPWR connector cuts out all the adapters and works just fine. If it wasnt safe to use it would not have passed QC and such. Its not a no-name PSU vendor so.

It's been a long time since I've used my computer's optical drive but I bought ICY BOX IB-550StU3S for my old DVD-RW SATA because I could use it one day.

But for movies, I buy DVD / Blu-ray TV series and few Blu-ray movies (favorites). I watch them on my Panasonic TV & HDD Blu-ray in my living room.

Other movies, I recorded them on my Panasonic HDD Blu-ray (support up to 8 HDD 2TB USB. About 500 movies per HDD)
