  1. Hey, I have an FX-6300 / 1050 Ti rig. I have a very hard time recording on it without having adverse effects on the game I'm playing, often regardless of how I adjust my settings. It even makes my whole system slower when I'm recording my desktop, not even a game. I'm pretty sure this is because of my relatively bad CPU. Would it be a good idea to get a capture card for recording gameplay? Would it make my performance more manageable while I'm recording? If so, any capture cards you recommend? For clarification, I I usually record using Shadowplay or OBS. OBS seems to work okay, but Shadowplay, while it worked great at first, has issues involving intense stuttering in the post-recording video. Also, sorry if this is the wrong topic to post this, I don't really know what would be more appropriate. Thanks for any help.
  2. I'm considering getting this phone a year or two after it comes out (so the price goes down, and because I recently bought a new phone and don't want to go and immediately buy a new one). As much as I'd love to get this, the price may be the dealbreaker. If it's too expensive, I'm not going to get it. I don't really have a good estimate of what the price will be, nor do I know what an appropriate price is since I haven't seen much about it (reviews, etc.). It might be priced a lot higher than it's worth just because of the ASUS brand name and the fact that it is a high-end phone in itself. (If they can pay $x for it, surely they could afford just another hundred dollars, right?) Anyway, what do you think the price range for this phone will be? What about its accessories? Do you think they'll be included or not? Do you think they'll be really pricey as well?
  3. Hey, I'm saving up to build a new PC. I want a build that will be able to play games at 1440p 144Hz while still being able to run most games at at least high settings. Should a 1080 Ti be able to do this? The other core components of the build would be a Ryzen 7 2700x and 32GB of RAM (I want to do streaming and workstation tasks like video editing and music production on it as well.)
  4. Don't recycle things like this, some old parts like that are relatively hard to find and some collectors or such would be willing to pay quite a bit for old "antique" parts like that.
  5. I'd rather not do that because I'm too lazy to go set up another hard drive or run a virtual machine.
  6. Done, but that's not going to make the games look worse.
  7. I'm trying to make Windows look as bad as possible so that I can play games at the lowest possible settings and also look as bad as possible. What I've done so far is get out my 4:3 1440x900 monitor, set the color depth to 16-bit, change the resolution (through various procedures) to 640x480, and change the settings on the monitor to look as bad as possible. But I want to go further. What can I do to make it look even worse than it currently does? This is super important and I need answers immediately. EDIT: Two things that I think I could to make it even worse are changing the aspect ratio, lowering the resolution even further, and lowering the color depth to 8-bit or lower. How would I do these things? I'm willing to use third-party software to accomplish this. Also, by the way, I'm using Windows 7.
  8. I want to add WiFi and Bluetooth to my PC, and I would prefer to use a PCI or PCIe card instead of a USB adapter. A hybrid card that has both Bluetooth and WiFi capabilities would be nice, but I'm having a hard time finding much info on that. Are there any that you'd recommend, if they even exist? Is it even worth getting a PCI or PCIe card instead of a USB one? Also, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this; networking is the closest topic to this question.
  9. I'm looking to buy a new monitor sometime soon. Ideally, 2560x1440p 120 or 144Hz, ~25-30in give or take. I'm going to be using it for both gaming and workstation tasks like video/photo editing and animation. One that is a good enough display overall to do some color grading is, again, ideal. I know that something like this is going to be pretty pricey. I'm looking around for something that meets these criteria, but I can't find exactly what I want. If someone cold recommend a monitor like this, that would be appreciated. Thanks.

  11. Agreed, I don't know for sure but I think it'd probably be better just to buy a new monitor unless you really can't afford it and you're interested in doing this.
  12. I know that it's not great to generalize things, including computer components, but I've heard that generally, Intel and AMD CPUs perform better in certain areas than the other. For example, Intel processors tend to perform in single-core things like gaming, while AMD processors tend to perform better in things that do a better job at splitting the workload across multiple cores, like video editing and, of course, rendering. Aside from these main, extremely generalized differences, how do AMD and Intel processors perform in relation to each other? Which one tends to have better value products? Generally, which is better to buy, and for what purposes do each tend to perform better in?
  13. I want a better CPU for things like streaming/recording games and video production, but I'm not currently not even close to being able to afford the Ryzen 7 / 1080 Ti build (subject to change as new things come out) that I'm planning on getting in a year or so. Thankfully, the FX series all uses the AM3+ socket, so I'll be able to upgrade in this series. Is the performance increase in the FX-8350 or 9590 compared to the 6300 good enough to justify upgrading? I'd probably sell my 6300. The other components of my system that might be noteworthy, in case you're wondering: GTX 1050 Ti 16 GB DDR3 RAM BIOSTAR TA970
