If it doesn't affect anything, it doesn't matter. Just check task manager to make sure it doesn't say 3GB, if it does... something is wrong.

    What game? What driver version?

Might just be a bug. Check if GPU-Z reports the correct amount. (Or even Task Manager if you're on Windows 10 1803 or higher. Under the performance tab you should be able to select your GPU)

In that case I'm not sure. You may want to play around with overclocking, and try to dial in an OC as close as you can to that 2030mhz mark. I'm sorry if i cant help more, I haven't gotten to play with any 20 series cards

Fixed, turns out the monitor thats connected with the mobo's HDMI is causing this.

It's pretty far out on the edges, the mounting plate looks like 115X intel, if so, you should be fine, the IHS is pretty small, and the die much smaller yet.

There is a lot of information about overclocking your GPU that you can find on the internet. What I seem to live by is the fact that only people who run into problems talk about their problems with having done so on the internet. Consider the crypto-mining era of cards and their deaths; running a card at load constantly 24/7 is going to have a higher chance of damaging a card than anything else. In your and my case, just keep your fan curve where you stay in comfy temperatures and I doubt you will see any negative effects at all.

I overclock my 1070 Ti for some extra performance in my mid-gaming setup and doubt I will see any negative effects on the card in the future. Hell, my graphics card came with and MSI Afterburner disc in its packaging. If it could lead to damage easily, they wouldn't be pushing it themselves so hard.

Keep it cool with a nice fan curve, and so long as you stay within good power usage and don't see any visual distortions, you will likely be fine. Feel free to look around the internet and ask more about it though.

A good example of this, is CSGO, the game itself is a GPU bottleneck. My 2080Ti sits at very low utilization and sometimes, doesn't even run at the 3d clock speed even while getting 400+fps.

With an 8700k, and a 2080Ti, you shouldn't be starting at low settings, start at max and work your way down until you find what is comfortable.

CPU might peak at 100% very briefly and hardware monitor doesnt pick it up because its too brief.

If RS6 is able to utilize the 2 extra cores properly then sure?, but why would you? it doesn't make sense to pay 500$ for that

First test with an overlay how much your CPU is actually being utilized, most games don't use all the cores equally, so 1 core could be at 100% while the other cores are lower than that, in that case a 9900K might not help you much at all, also you need to consider that you might be running things in the background that are taking CPU usage, you're trying to fix something that doesn't need to be fixed honestly

if you have a fan for cooling the VRM you dont even need heatsinks on a reference card, let alone a Lightning Z. That's the power of active cooling

Exposed VRMs are fine, you're just being paranoid. That flat piece of metal wont do as good as tiny heatsinks you can put on with sticky thermal pad anyway, barely better than not having anything.

So long as the motherboard is compatible with your components, it shouldn't be an issue. At the most, you might have to reinstall your OS. Even then, that's not always true either.

Basically, you're probably not going to run into any issues. The only reason why the SSD is cheaper is likely because it's using NAND flash that makes it cheaper (i.e., QLC vs. TLC)

Yep. I'd honestly go with the P1 for gaming.

The drive OP listed, the CT1000P1SSD8, is an NVMe drive.

    They're both SSDs:
    Crucial P1 1TB 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD
Samsung 860 EVO 2.5" SATA III 1TB Internal SSD

Oops, you are correct there. It is NVME, so it should indeed be faster. But the reason it's cheaper is still what I said above in my first post.

No. To clarify, they are BOTH SSDs. One of them is using the M.2 interface and the other is using the SATA interface. M.2 can leverage SATA OR NVME. The P1 is a SATA M.2 Drive, not NVME, so it is not any faster.

That 3rd gen i7 is definitely bottlenecking your 1070. And GTA V in general especially in multiplayer can be pretty poorly optimized.

Normally people will use a i7 4790k to pair it with 1070 or higher. Spooky beat me to it I think your CPU is bottlenecking. Also if you would do me a favor can you show me your Nvidia control panel settings? I want to make sure you are using Maximum Power for the power option just in case.

Yeah, as mentioned above, the best case scenario would be to buy your own modem but I doubt they're going to let you do that. You have to put that combo into bridge mode (and hope it does it).

    Otherwise other routes:
    Ubiquiti Edgerouter 4 and AC-Pros

    Wallet no problem:
    Ubiquiti Edgerouter Infinity and AC-HDs

    Open Source:
Repurpose old PC or get a Netgate router with pFsense (or untangle) on it and use AC Pros with that

Unfortunately, after a little digging, it doesn't look like Rogers will let you bring your own modem, which I think is stupid, but it also seems to vary by region making things harder to nail down. I would call them up and ask if something like the SB8200 would be supported but it's up to them.
