Agreed. I'm pretty sure Linus and Bitwit have both done videos comparing various cheap-o, no name keyboards from Amazon.  Some KBs were decent, some where terrible.

Under 70 and with rgb, maybe one of those no name brands you can find on amazon?

Here you can see the combo on a bunch of demanding games:

You'd have to drop visual quality to hit 240 fps.

Do you have these components already?

There are a lot of popular games that your setup will push 240Hz in, but demanding AAA titles will come nowhere close. Depends on what "most games" you play.

Paroxy reacted to Eigenvektor in does ram throttle?
RAM doesn't throttle based on how full it is, but using more RAM means there's more of it to read/write which might cause memory throughput to become more of a bottleneck. So in the end it comes down to how these shaders work. Apparently one of them does more than the other which requires more performance.

If they're both doing the exact same thing, then it would appear that bsl is less efficient at it than seus. But it's also quite possible bsl is simply doing more than seus (e.g. more details) which might explain why it also uses more resources.

If you're worried about doing an OC, then don't.  It only makes a tiny difference in reality anyway.

Just find a 5700 that has a higher base clock, like this one:
MSI Radeon RX 5700 MECH OC 8GB

But if I were you... I'd want to sell the 5600XT for lets say $200 and use the $600 you were going to spend on a 5700 to get a something like a 2070 Super.

That will have noticeable boost in performance, and it isn't an AMD GPU so you can OC it without worrying your house will burn down.

Are you aware the 5700 is only marginally faster then the 5600XT?  I wouldn't make that move unless your sitting on stack of cash you want to burn.

But to answer your question: some 5700's will come with a factory OC and some won't.  In either case you can still open AfterBurner and squeak out a few more MHz's.  How many more you can get will depend on your luck in the silicon lottery and your cooling setup.

Paroxy reacted to mariushm in Memory configuration
If you mix the sticks, ALL will run at 1066 Mhz.
16 GB will be enough for most applications and games, and in most cases you will not notice any improvement with more than 16 GB.
However, you may experience some performance decrease with 1066 Mhz.

In theory, having triple channel functional would give more performance but in practice the improvements over dual channel are minimal ... so I'd probably leave it at  2 x 8 GB if it works.

Compatibility, capacity, then speed. Speed is last because X58 itself is old and wont be that fast regardless of memory config you use on it

Paroxy reacted to Jurrunio in Memory configuration
Then 6x2GB is the best option, as 8GB sticks dont work without REG until Sandy Bridge (LGA 1155 and LGA2011), the latter is the replacement of X58.

maybe try look for 4GB sticks? Make sure those are dual rank sticks though (i.e. memory dies on both sides of each stick)

Consider a new laptop, as the CPU is 5 years old and you want a new GPU anyway. Also consider building a desktop, because you won't have as many issues with upgrading in the future. It is also cheaper to go with a desktop.

I know this is going to sound silly, but my boot drive is an 850 EVO 250 GB, only thing on it is windows, lol. I know I should put the boot on one of these newer ones, but I have the 1TB for games, and the 500gb for video files. I like to keep the data clean  Thanks for your help on this one!

Lastly I should point out that it is "dumb" card.  As in, it doesn't do any logic or processing.  It just repeats the single speed and RGB signals it receives at those two connectors on the top and repeats it to all the fans.   From your motherboard software's point of view, it will appear as you have only 1 fan connected.

I can't say for sure if your motherboard will see 1 or 10 controllable RGB sets, but I'd bet on it seeing them all as 1.

I was actually thinking this myself.

What are the odds that the card can even run the games at that rate?  I'd think even dual monitor is asking a lot, never mind three or four.

You've had better luck than I did. It looks like there's no simple HDMI 2.0 to DP 1.2 adapter. Here's another converter and it's also quite pricey: https://www.amazon.com/gofanco-Prophecy-HDMI-DisplayPort-Converter/dp/B07BT4BG4C

    I'm confused.

That monitor supports DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 1.4.  That card has 2x DisplayPort 1.4 and 2x HDMI 2.0b.

    Don't you just need 2x DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort cables and 2x HDMI-to-HDMI cables?

No matter which way you slice it, your DisplayPort will be 1.2 spec and your HDMI will be 1.4 spec.

It's a pretty solid build, but you may want to buy a MAX motherboard (comes with the bios update for ryzen 3rd gen) so you don't have to go through the mess of doing it yourself, or you can buy an x570 (if you do, try to buy one that's above $170 or $180 USD, because the ones lower than that can be a bit sketchy). Maybe try getting an nvme ssd, and perhaps if you get a x570 board, try getting a pci-e gen 4 nvme, to give you lightning-fast load times. The 3600x is also a solid cpu, that can probably do what you want for a little less, but it's your life, booth the 3700x and 3600x are awesome. If you stick with the 3700x, I recommend getting an aftermarket cooler, just for the in-case of overclocking, heavy loads, or loads that may put the cpu at 85+c for over 45-90 minutes. The Noctua NH-D9L or be quiet! Shadow Rock 2 are both quite good. You may also want a 2080 or 2080 super, but If its out of the price range dont sweat it, the 2070 super is great. Finally, remember the small things, such as thermal paste and cable ties.

Paroxy reacted to FloRolf in CPU, GPU or whole new build?
a 1070TI should be more than fine for 1080p gaming and the 1600X can probably be updated all the way to a 3950X depending on the motherboard or even support 4000 series Ryzen CPU's at the end of the year.
