I volunteered at ltx2019 and it had a great vibe. I'd def say the vast majority are more like those here on the forum, not reddit lol. Never had an issue with anybody and it was always fun chatting with people. I'll be volunteering this year as well and am very much looking forward to it.

If the motherboard part number in your Z420 starts with a 6, then you have to use the Sandy Bridge based Xeons. The E5-2690 should work. If your motherboard part number starts with a 7, you can use ivy bridge Xeons like the E5-2690v2.

They have 8 RAM slots so if you wanted 32gb you can do 4x 8gb sticks or 8x 4gb sticks. Has to be ECC server memory (registered dimms). Tons of it all over ebay for good prices. DDR3 1600. Searching PC3-12800E (make sure to put the E at the end there) should bring up some ram results for you.

    No I didnt.
Reinstalled changing the setting to UEFI modes, even removed all other drives so just pcie nvme drive is in there.
Still get the winload.efi missing error.

And now cant seem to get rid of clover from my bios and boot options show 3 possible windows installs. One actual windows the other 2 with no volume locations 😕
Well tried this cos I was going to do a fresh reinstall anyway. So back to my normal SSD I guess

    --------EDIT------

So got it to work with a couple bugs.

First dont use EasyUEFI, it messed up my bios and had to clear CMOS
Downloaded BDU from https://iowin.net/en/bootdiskutility-en/ as main site download flags as a virus
Created by boot usb with BDU, if you dont have a partition names CLOVER then you need to redo it.

Copied NvmExpressDxe.efi from \EFI\CLOVER\drivers\off on the usb to \EFI\CLOVER\drivers\BIOS and \EFI\CLOVER\drivers\UEFI
Then created a folder called drivers64uefi in \EFI\CLOVER\  then copied NvmExpressDxe.efi to both these folders.

I removed ALL drives from my PC, even USB drives.
Only had the pcie nvme and win10 installation usb.
    Cleared CMOS.
Installed on nvme with all bios settings set to UEFI as mentioned by CoalitionGaming above.
    Removed win10 usb
Booted with CLOVER usb to complete win10 installation on nvme drive.

For some reason the windows installation took longer than normal, not sure why.
Same when I did updates and a restart, took an awfully long time to complete.
Not as long as the old windows 98 installation days though 😛

So Windows 10 loads from my pci nvme drive.
I've attached all my old SSD and external drives again.
However windows will only detect my external drive.
None of the other SSDs are showing up even in disk management. Not sure why
They do show up in the BIOS lists of drives though....

    ---UPDATE---
SSDs not showing were due to assigned drive letter conflicts.
Old Windows installs drive was C: which conflicts with new windows install which is also C:
External enclosure worked to reset non-windows SSD
Windows SSD I had to delete the partitions by running windows install usb again, luckily I didnt have data I needed on it.
So backup if you do! And change drive letters to something else before installing windows on nvme, that should save you from this hassle I had.

Yesssssssssssssss! Hyped, excited, stoked, all the things. Can't wait to hear more and can't wait go! LTX19 was such an awesome experience (and my first time visiting Canada). Roomed with Danny Le (Nerd on a Budget) and Ozi (OzTalksHw) and was super cool meeting those dudes for the first time too. @nicklmgthx for saving our butts by getting us into that room to finish shooting our content when our original plan elsewhere fell through!

    - Pricing TBD, more info when we're ready to share!
    - Yep! We'll have Whale LAN @ LTX, so it's part of the expo and then we might do more stand-alone LANs again in the future!
    - Early bird specials are something we're considering, not 100% decided yet on it yet.

We don't want to give out exact dates just yet, but a few details I can share for now:
Summer 2023 Vancouver Convention Centre (West Building) More floor space than 2019 (a lot more) So far we appear to have finally not scheduled LTX on the same weekend as a Quakecon or San Diego Comic-Con 😅, but a lot of events are coming back in full swing next year so I imagine it'll be hard to avoid conflict with something else that's going on in North America.

I actually got to check one of these out, transplanted it into my streaming setup. The way it works took some getting use to for me since I'm not use to having submixing/differing audio for me vs stream, but I found it workable and useful. Software will hopefully get polished up (its on their roadmap at least), but I really dug the device.

Ive got an idea. How about an optional competition for the invited creators. Scrapyard Wars: LTX edition. When the invitations go out, maybe include this as an optional thing to do with the final builds to be presented & judged on sunday. Fleshing out the judging categories ahead of time would be necessary, but you guys got plenty of experience with that.

I know that when OzTalksHW, Nerd on a Budget, and I attended this year's event, we collab'd to all build one single PC using a handful of secondhand parts we mostly scored the friday night we arrived in Vancouver, it was a ton of fun. So maybe this can be an idea that can be developed. Maybe certain parts can be provided by sponsors, or LMG, to simplify the process since it'll be so time limited though. Like a cooler, a power supply, maybe even the case or something.

Now im not sure if you guys were going to take this apart, but at least there is a solution for the miniature USB header the board has in case you do end up needing it :)

Creators I would like to see that aren't already there: iJustine, Uravgconsumer, MKBHD

    Food: Madrinas and Savage Jerky

Shirts: it would be cool to put the creators on the back of the shirts.

Panels: I attended every single panel because I was injured. There wasn't a single panel that I didn't enjoy. I would like a gaming competition with all the creators playing against each other. CSGO would be awesome. I enjoyed the world of warships bit, but would like something with all the talent. Would also like to see a scrapyard wars live. With panelists bringing their lan system they made with a 5 min vlog of them building it.

Guy at work got a 15 inch lappy, they suckered him into the 4k.  He was pumped.  I haven't had the heart to have him put it next to my 1080p screen and see if he can spot the difference from normal sitting distance.  He does notice the significantly lower FPS than he had on his 1080p set up when gaming though.

1440p 17 inch screen would interest me though, probably would be a decent buy.

Supreme Commander is a great RTS if you're in to that kind of game (Not SupCom 2) we pretty much always end up playing FlatOut 2 as the night winds down becasue i'ts great goofy fun for all. Dont Starve Together is frequently somethign we play as we wit for people to show up. Smite is a common one for us as well. About hafl of us are EVE nerds so sometimes we do that for a bit. One thing that's worth figuring out is if you do better with playing WITH each other cooperatively or AGAINST each other and have games that each "faction" can play.

For those that still do LAN Parties (and everyone + anyone that's done em too), what are you go to games?

As time goes forward and new games come out, we try to incorporate new(ish) games. Though a longtime staple for us was Battlefield 4. We tried to make things work with BF1, but it just never jived. BFV came out and all sorta lost interest in it. Overwatch has been one that has stuck for a while, as well as RB6: Siege for around half of us. Trackmania Nations Forever has turned into a fun one as well, happy thats free. We've experimented with DOOM, GoW4, Counter-Strike Source, and Starcraft for LAN Parties as well, but they didn't stick.

So with that said, what are your guy's favorites? Have any suggestions? We don't have our next one scheduled yet, but hopefully sometime in August.

Seeing all your pictures of all the rigs and all your friends playing together really warms my heart, it's so nice and wholesome to see gaming bringing people together for fun and games.
