  1. Ya know, going over these benches+value aspect+seeing statements by AMD, the XT Ryzen CPUs are utterly pointless.   If you have a Ryzen 3000 series CPU these aren't aimed to replace the one you have as they have rather minimal gains.   Maybe if you're a professional OCer it's worth it due to the silicon being better.   "But, they're aimed for those going off first and second gen Ryzen or new to building!"   Well, AMD also confirmed the new Ryzen series will be coming out at the end of the year.  It would be wiser to wait for that than pull the trigger now.

  2. I knew the banner was a troll banner, and I clicked on it expecting it to be either Rick Astley or Darude Sandstorm.

  3. Well, the gaming laptop I won from the Intel Gamer Day giveaway Linus did with ASUS has finally arrived.  :D

It's your typical chiclet keyboard that comes with most of these gamery laptops.  It's got an 9750h, 1tb ssd with optane, a single 2666mhz CL 19 stick, an RTX 2060, and a 144hz 1080p display.  Now I don't need to buy a laptop for game development courses at school.

Ahh yeah, I don't think I could handle that. It'd drive me crazy.

Sounds like a solid build though. Bit disappointing about the RAM, but I'm sure that's to leave room for upgrades.

      An Optane boosted SSD? ?

That's what it says.  "SSD 1     953 GB, Optane+954GBSSD" -MyASUS
As for the ram I'm getting 100 bucks in a few days that I'd probably push towards that.  Well that and a laptop cooling pad cuz this thing gets toasty.

  4. Decided I'm done with custom cooling and I'm done with the headache that is TR.  By the end of next Summer I will be completing these 2 builds.

This will be Surtr's final form, but it's not my main priority.

This will be my rig named Bloodshed and the Fenris Wolf.

  5. Starting to wonder if I will ever get the laptop I won from LinusMediaGroup and ASUS.  I gave LMG my information, and had been waiting nearly 2 weeks for my laptop.  Well, it never showed up.  So, I asked LMG for tracking.  Apparently, ASUS was supposed to send me a docusign, not sure what that is.  However, I never got it through email and told LMG that.  It wasn't in spam or any other folder. They haven't gotten back to me on that.  Can't even talk to ASUS until tomorrow cuz most of their CS stuff is closed on the weekends.  e.e  Might have to buy a laptop for school now.

Ah, great. Thanks. Just sanity checking my result.

It was confusing because the XT scores higher, so I wanted to make sure that was the expected result.

or keep my R5 and use one of those 4 bay things instead.  Cuz putting that much liquid cooling crap in my R5 would require me to remove all the drive bays.

Edit = forgot to put the case in.  XD

Actually arena shooters and bullet hells are the only logical reason for a 240hz monitor.  Outside of that a 144-155hz display is good enough.

I wonder if people are going to give Valve the same backlash they gave Epic over this.  Epic wasn't spying with the Chinese government, but they were doing this form of intrusive marketing which is pretty fucked up.  Honestly, fuck Gabe for this.

I rarely buy AAA titles unless I'm interested in the series like something from id or a good hack and slash like a Ninja Gaiden/DMC game I usually buy a bunch of random indie or older titles from niche genres.  So, I probably won't be too badly impacted on this.  Like, I play arena shooters not military ones.  Steam doesn't have many of those minus quake, unreal, and toxikk.  Hack and slash, the action/not the rpg kind, is hard to market for since Steam barely has any.  Most of those are on consoles.  Plus, I own most, if not all, of those on Steam already for both genres.  So, I wonder what they'd advertise to me considering I have most of my hours logged into those kinda games.

  15. Doing cable management later for now my second render rig is working at least.  Thinking of getting some 140mm Corsair red SP fans for the top.  Ya, the dust filter fell off the bottom of the case, but I put it back on.  XD

    CPU: 2200g/replacing with a 3900x or 3950x

  16. The dark rock pro 4 is a great cooler and true rival to the D15.  OCed my fiancee's 2600 to 4ghz with a 1.3 vcore and set the llc to mode 4 on a B450 Tomahawk.   Saved the rest of my kryonaut for Vash, so using hydronaut on her CPU.  Max temp in prime95 is 75c.  Lowest idle temp is 28c.

  17. So, I got thermal paste in an AM4 socket thanks to a dark rock pro 4 breaking the laws of physics and feeding the socket some yummy kryonaut.  Got it out with rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush.  Glad cuz this is like a 200 buck mobo.  <.<

In the interview, the Sapphire representative stated that Navi would not support Ray Tracing at a hardware level, placing Navi at a disadvantage to Nvidia's RTX series, though the rep also stated that the Navi is "stronger than the 2070".

Reports have claimed that the Sapphire representative confirmed that ray tracing silicon will be added to "next year's new architecture," while suggesting that Navi will not be scaled up to replace the Radeon VII. This claim alleges that the long-running rumours of "big Navi" are false.

huh, so PS5 will have Navi with additional raytracing architecture (while the desktop cards won't have them) o_o

Well, one of the radeon engineers did say they weren't interested in it yet on the desktop side.  They're probably waiting a gen until the tech and support is better.
