Frankie reacted to JoaoPRSousa in V2
Yeah, it sure is
GPU upgrade is also on the plans for the future, but it will take me quite a while to get there...
The first tihng I'll buy will probably be an AntLion ModMic... Then RAM, SDD and GPU (not in this order). We'll see.
Thank you

No formalities, no bullshit. Here's my upgraded PC. The only component that comes from my previous PC is the GPU, the mighty VTX3D R9 280X.
I nicknamed my previous PC "insaneTX" but I never used the name, and can't come up with a name for this one, so, I'll name it "V2", because reasons.
Upgrades made:
Athlon x4 760k -> Ryzen 5 1600
8GB DDR3 -> 8GB DDR4 (might get 8 more down the road)
MSI A88XI AC -> ASUS B350-F
WD 1TB Blue -> Seagate Barracuda 2TB (needs an SSD, I know)
XFX Core Edition 450W -> Seasonic M12II Evo 520W (fully modular)
CoolerMaster Elite 130 -> Phanteks P400s TG
(only a few pictures because I'm still shit with the DSLR)

Frankie got a reaction from mrchow19910319 in What Color Theme Do You Prefer?
The flash of the camera makes the top piece of the HDD stand out, but it's for sure better to have it hidden in the back part of the case.

Black and white. I was thinking about adding little bit of color, but the black and white grew on me.
Shameless plug with some older pics.

So, I've taken pictures as the journeys went along... not pictures of everything but pictures that show it was made out of a $20 piece of MDF.
Inspiration is taken from Linus's DIY desk before anyone comments 'OMG U COPYYYYYY'

The 1tb 960 EVO for sure, twice as much room in exchange for ''slower'' write speed. I probably wouldn't even feel the difference.

Yep, that's why I recommended the Supernova G2 line while saying I wouldn't go lower than gold. Quality + efficiency. I should of worded it differently.

There you go, all of that stuff is handled by the MOBO.

The INF file is probably Intel chipset driver and the VGA should be for CPUs onboard graphics.

I'd like to solicit some feedback on the cooling solution. Can you suggest a better arrangement than the following? Imagine that all of the copper blocks are connected by heat pipes like the two central channels at the top (the chassis is laying on its side with the top facing the camera):
here we are simulating an installed card, looking in from the side:
And the other side:
And the top again:
Paging @Stefan1024: What do you think?

Frankie got a reaction from Nup in Frankie's modded Air 540 Build
Heyo people.
At December 27th it was a year with my build, man time flies. Anyway, I decided to buy another 8gb kit of RAM, sadly Kingston stopped making white Hyperx Fury RAM in white with DDR4 lineup so sadly no mixed white/black RAM. Another item was AKASAs Vegas LED strip and me being me decided to immediately mod it and add on/off switch.
- Supplies for the mod
- This LED strip had really short cables so I would have to mod it no matter what to have clean cable management.
- Started soldering multiple joints, measuring cable length needed etc. So that was fun for well over couple of minutes.
- Finished product. Ground goes from the strip all the way to the connector in one piece and the 12v wire has the connectors for the switch, you'll see. Btw this was my first time using heat-shrink and it just might be my new favorite thing. It's just amazing compared to fiddling with electrical tape.
- Switch was hidden at the back of the case. No Dremel needed, just snipped the honeycomb with wire cutters and pushed the switch in.
- All hooked up and tested with spare old PSU, just to be sure. Everything went A-okay.
- I'm a stickler for detail, so I really didn't want any wires showing if possible, which I accomplished pretty well. So I'm happy.
And the grand finale. My camera didn't want to cooperate much, it looks much more evenly spread in person. I'm thinking about maybe just lightly sanding the strip with something like a 600 grit, to get rid of the sorta points of light on the plexi side panel. Every LED strip does that and it kinda upsets my perfectionism.
I would like to get custom cable extensions, but that costs a fair amount. Sponsorship would be nice, but I don't think my build log is big enough to achieve that. Also fan hub, to get rid of the fan cables in the front. Other than that, we'll see if I come up with something else.
Thanks for reading peeps!
