Part way through spray painting, primed and first coated the black pieces today. I haven't got a adequate painting area so I held each part as I sprayed and dried on the clothes line, to my surprise it has turned out well so far.

Wet sanded and rinsed off any dust, then hung to dry. It was perfect conditions for painting today.

Close up at one corner brace, pictured after first coat, more coats to do.

Make shift rack from a couple of clamps, works well.

Hi   I just copied my post from NVIDIA ANZ, wasn't sure if I could just post the link.   This is my PC I have been working on for the last couple of months, and it is finally finished and running.      I must say this is the first time I've done this and while I am happy with what I achieved, the overall build quality of the final build is more on a "prototype" level than a finished product. You will clearly notice holes not matching properly, bad paint work, etc. The components I used are also not top of the line stuff as I could not afford all new stuff and had to reuse a lot of what I already had, but I am happy.   Components:   Asus GTX 970 mini DCUII Core i7 2600k Asus P8H61 - I 8GB Corsair Vengeance LP Fractal Design Kelvin S24 Koolance Quick Disconnects Barrow Fittings     Design was done on SolidWorks, and the pieces were laser cut:     The aluminium panels were bent and welded: (I didn't weld as I don't have any experience with AC Tig welding)     Completed shell:     Fitting the SFX-L PSU and the rails for the radiator:     Checking space for component layout, I obviously didn't have to get a short mini 970:     Checking I/O shield fitment:     Heart of the visuals:       Noctua paste:     I was able to find a 970 mini waterblock after weeks of searching, it's from Bykski:     I designed without having all my components, obviously I guestimated poorly, and had to cut out the side of my case...:     GPU backplate had to be cut back a little to fit next to the mobo:       It actually posts with the cheap looking PCI 90 degree riser:     Plastidipped the case. It peels off super easily and my case is full of bare metal nicks everywhere, yay... I don't recommend it for painting an entire case:     Mounting PSU and radiator:     Plumbing time:     I actually think I like the look of the case better on it's side:     Filling the loop with no reservoir and only two hands at my disposal, difficult:     Finished, running, not leaking yet, and ready to game ( the way it's meant to be played):     More pictures at the link:   Build Album   Hope I can do some more custom cases in the future, with hopefully some better specs and also improving the build quality to acceptable standards   Thanks for reading through it.   Rein

40C at idle it's pretty much okay for almost any non-watercooled GPU in my book, but probably depends on the GPU model. You gotta realize that the card is passively cooled when idling so there's that.

That's the problem, usually these parts doesn't outright die, but start causing problems. It will still work, but cause problems here and there. And as @MageTank said since RAM is not that expensive is usually better/less of a headache just to replace it or in your case RMA it.

If you want you could buy one of these handy things called PSU tester, it shows you voltages and PSU latency, to check if something is acting up.

Well you have 45 errors found on that stick and it should be zero, so it's probably done. I would not take the PSU out of the equation just yet, but it seems like the memory was causing the problems.

Okay, really late on this reply but I went on a week's vacation and just got back today. Anyway, the new fans came. Mounting the 80mm fan in the front of the case was a pain in the arse, as I ended up concocting some mangled mess of zip ties to get it in. Nevertheless, with a 3-pin splitter, it works just fine. The new CPU fan is in. Not sure if it'll make any cooling difference, but I'd rather have a new fan on the CPU for 24/7 operation than the 7-year-old stock one. Yes, I used black electrical tape on the cables because otherwise it was a lot of loose wires and frankly looked ugly.

The front isn't as pretty as I'd have liked, but the white-on-black worked well.

The rear looks much better than before, and really shows more the transformation that took place.

The interior turned out a little better than I thought, so I give myself bonus points for that one.

The new front-intake fan, which is not visible with the doors closed, draws air in through the gap around the inside perimeter of the white bezel.

Unfortunately I didn't know what to do with dell logo plate, but I suspect I may put a sticker or something similar on it in the future.

I don't want to spoil the ending, because it's not yet done (waiting on a 3-pin slitter to make installing a third fan possible, and also waiting on a new CPU fan), but the paint has dried and things are looking pretty nice, if I do say so myself. A bit more work to be done before it's finished, but here's a sneak peak...

Frankie reacted to Mnpctech in Cooler Master Mastercase Racing, Porsche 917 Le Mans Tribute
I'm creating a new case mod with Cooler Master's Mastercase 5 / Pro Mid Tower. "Mastercase Racing" will be the catalyst for new bolt-on accessories and modifications for this case by Mnpctech. The custom paint finish will be inspired race by Steve McQueen's GULF PORSCHE 917 from his 1971 movie, "Le Mans."

The MasterCase Mid Tower draws it's inspiration from Cooler Master's MasterConcept from 2016 CES. Cooler Master wants you to have absolute control over how your case looks and functions. You can adjust the exterior structure and it's look through a range of replacement panels and doors. Each choice changes the look of the exterior while giving you flexibility of the interior layout. Order a new Mastercase 5 or Pro from Newegg, HERE

The legendary PORSCHE 917 is the inspiration for the custom paint on this case mod. The 917 only raced for three seasons. It placed 1st in fourteen of the twenty one races it entered 1969 through 1971. The only Gulf Porsche 917 to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans was the one driven in Steve McQueen's "Le Mans" movie. His 917 from the movie was chassis # 022 and purchased in 1970, from the Porsche by Steve McQueen's movie production company, Solar Productions. It was also the company that would bring the movie "Le Mans" to the big screen. This is the car that McQueen's character, Michael Delaney, starts the race in, and "crashes" late in the race, "writing the car off." The car that was crashed was really a Lola T-70, painted and rebodied, to look like a 917. Many innovations in cinematography, were first tried in this movie. They even went so far, as to weld brackets to the front frame work of the 917, so they could mount a camera to shoot Steve, and the other drivers, in the cockpit. I'm debating about replacing the #22 with #5 to represent the Mastercase 5.

Display the hardware in your Cooler Master MasterCase Pro & 5 with the "Easy PC Mastercase Window Panel" It allows a full view inside your PC without any obstructions. "Easy PC Window Panel" is professionally laser cut from 1/8" thick 100% cast acrylic. It has embedded magnets to make installation and removal fast and easy. The window panel is the same size as the factory steel panel for the Cooler Master MasterCase Pro & 5.

The Mastercase 5 chassis and exterior parts before prepping them with Red Scotchbrite for our custom paint finish. I will be utilizing House of Kolor and PPG products.

Here is the hardware I'd like to use for the "Mastercase Racing" Gaming PC build, but my budget may have to be limited for another personal project. I'd love the INTEL Core i7-6700K 8M Skylake Quad-Core 4.0 GHz LGA 1151 91W processor to be our race car engine. My first choice of motherboard is GIGABYTE's GA-Z170X-SOC FORCE. It's touted as the ultimate Z170 "Super OverClock" solution from GIGABYTE. It also offers a vast array of user features that includes 22 phases of digital power, cool new OC Touch buttons, durable PCIe slots with metal trim. The SOC FORCE has a large heat sink layout with heat pipe dissipation system and water channel technology to incorporate hybrid cooling through air and liquid supply. This allows the VRMs and MOSFETs to stay cool under load when voltages are pushed high

Brad is applying final coat of Gulf Racing Orange paint, this was custom mixed from specs for the 1970 Porsche 917 race car from Steve McQueen's movie, "Le Mans" We applied this paint to the EK radiator and misc Mastercase accessories

I'll be utilizing "5" as race number to represent Cooler Master's Mastercase 5

First round of painting happened today! I'll organize by what is being painted what color and if you'd like, you can go back through the thread to visualize how the finished product will look.

    GLOSS WHITE
The internal brace and the rear PCI covers will all be gloss white. I only got one side of each painted today, and will get the other side tomorrow. These will need more coats before they're ready to be used.

Additionally,  the plastic interior clips are also going to be gloss white. These will take the longest to paint (which is okay, since they are nonessential parts).

    FLAT WHITE
The curved piece of the front bezel will be flat white. This will hopefully blend well with the black-and-white theme of my main computer.

    MATTE BLACK

All the rest of the parts (latch for the internal brace, the piece that clips over the rear PCI covers, the rest of the bezel pieces), along with the case itself, will be matte black. I'm hoping this will lend a very subtle look to the case. I will finish the interior compartment tomorrow, and hopefully start on the exterior (which will need the least amount of coats, since it is already black).

Also on tomorrow's agenda will be the disassembly and paining of the power supply's exterior. I couldn't do it today, since I forgot that painting it meant letting the capacitors drain for at least 24 hours prior to disassembling. I will not be painting the inside of the power supply, and will carefully mask it off. I hope to also get some pics up tomorrow with progress on the PSU for all of you lovelies out there.

Both Intel and Nvidia definitely needs a competitor. I always had Nvidia GPUs but after the R9 390 came out I lost interest in the 970 and went AMD. It was little scary because of the unknown but I am happy with the card.
