Hi, recently I started to face new issues that going to make me crazy. Every time I open a game, the game will run for 10 minutes or less then it rather going to shut down the whole pc or it is going to freeze for like 5 minutes and I get this error "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" or the pc will be working and there will be no signal on the monitor. I thought it is the graphic card so I change it from ASUS GTX 780 STRIX to MSI GTX 1070 ARMOR and well the result was slightly different. Instead of the game running for about 10 minutes it run for about 30 minutes and I again I got the same issue again.

WD Blue 2TB Hard Disk
WD Green 1TB Hard Disk
MSI GTX 1070 ARMOR

5X Corsair Fan AF120 LED
Note: I haven't overclocked the CPU or the GPU
My findings,
Once I switched the graphic card from the PCI express 3 to 2 I be able to play last generation games such as fallout 3 for a long time such as 5 hours
but once I run more powerful games such as far cry primal or fallout 4 the game run but with really bad frames like 15-20 frame. And once I switched back to PCI express 3 I got the same issue as explained earlier.
Note, the problem is not with the temperature both GPU and CPU in idle temperature. I have format and reinstall the windows same issue. I updated all driver bios same issue. the games in the 2tb driver I moved them to the ssd driver same issue. I am a bit confusing the issue is with the motherboard or the power supply. I am a bit tight on budget and I can only change one thing the motherboard or the power supply. any suggestion in more investigation?!
