  1. That's what I suspect too... I will probably buy an HDMI 2.1 gpu in the near future, maybe an RDNA 2 or RDNA 3 card when they come out so that I can take advantage of the 120hz VRR capability of the tv too if I decide to play some games. Thanks y'all for the help!!
  2. 8 bit with dithering is also an option for me at 30hz. I tried to switch at 50hz as the wikipedia table suggest but I get this (see attached image). I think it's just outputting at 1080p
  3. Thanks for the reply! I just tried with a shorter cable (0,9 meters) but it does the same exact thing
  4. First image is HDR off, second one HDR on.
  5. Hey guys! I just got a Sony OLED Tv (XR-55A75K) and hooked it up to my htpc using a GT 1030 HDMI 2.0b port, Windows 11 22H2 and Nvidia latest driver at the time of writing (522.25). I am connected to one of the 2 HDMI 2.1 ports on the tv with a 3 meters HDMI 2.1 cable that I bought for future gpu upgrades (https://amzn.eu/d/2mGshH6). 4k 60 SDR is fine but according to Nvidia control panel only at YCbCr 4:2:0, 8 bpc and limited dynamic output. I can toggle on HDR on windows settings but in only works at 30hz (4:4:4, 8bpc), as soon as I switch back to 60hz via either windows settings or nvidia control panel it set itself back at HDR off, 4:2:0 8bpc. Is it a limitation on the GT 1030? HDR10 and Dolby vision work great on the tv apps such as prime video and bravia core. Thanks
  6. Here it is! For 50€ (or $) this case is a steal. The build quality is great and the tinted side and front panel even if acrylic are actually kinda good! I can confidently recommend this case. Maybe the only negative is the limited airflow on the front but other than that this case is a solid 8/10! Here are other photos with different colours:
  7. I am currently building in the same case and planning to go with 3 rgb fans on the front and one or two rgb strips inside, I'll let you know how it goes!
  8. Hi guys! I'm thinking on switching to wireless AC 5ghz at my house. I live in a 3 floor house and I'm actually on wireless n 2.4ghz with a wireless router on the top floor which connects wirelessly to a range extender on the ground floor. I need to keep this config, my internet comes from the roof and my main rig upstair is wired connected to the router and I have no way of putting a cable between the router and the RE downstair. I'm getting alternate result in performance with this current config so I'm considering switching to AC 5ghz. Now, if I upograde the router and the range extender to AC devices will I see any benefit even on N clients or not? I currently have only two smartphone in the house that are wireless AC, all the rest (laptops, tablets...) are still only wireless n. My doubt is if by having an AC connection between the router and the RE if all devices (ac and n) connected to the AC RE will see a boost in performance. I hope I was clear enough! Thanks for the help guys!
  9. I rock an HD7950 and the RX480 will be a sweet upgrade!
  10. Great Linus and Jay working together! I would love to win the 270x to replace my HD6870.
  11. Hi guys! I've just upgraded my main rig and decided to go the APU route. I got an Asrock FM2A88X Extreme6+, socket FM2+ chipset A88X, paired up with a Trinity APU (A8 5600K) while I wait for the Kaveri's prices to go down. For the ram I've installed 8GB of Patriot 1866 CL9 1,5 volts. I boot windows 8.1 64 bit from an SSD, a Samsung 840 120GB. I use a discrete gpu. The system works fine and it is stable (I didn't overclock the apu, just set the ram to the xmp profile for 1866 Mhz) but I have a small yet annoying problem. When I start the pc from a cold boot as soon as it loads the desktop it stays there for 7-8 seconds doing nothing with all the icons on the desktop blank and not responding any command. Then it suddently unlocks and works fine. I tried to stop all the startup application such as java, startisback, antivirus... but nothing the problem is still there. It sounds like an odd problem but I experienced it already with another APU based system I have in my house (socket FM2, chipset A55, Trinity APU Athlon x4 740, Msi motherboard, windows 8 64 bit) and I thought that has to do with the mechanical drive used to boot in that machine but now I'm starting to have some doubts. Any ideas? Anyone else with the same problem? Thanks!
  12. Is it worth to upgrade drivers with a last generation gpu? I've got a 6870 with 12.10 drivers, will I see any improvement at all by upgrading to 13.1?
  13. Try also HD Tune Pro. You can download it for a 15 days trial. It is really complete, you can test anything on your HDD.
  14. Nope, no software RAID involved, nothing. I just plug the HDDs to my mobo and Windows sees them as a single 640GB disk. Even in device manager it sees them as a single device named "RAID 0" , the name I gave to my RAID0 array back on my old different build. In disk manager it's a basic drive, I'll attach an image. It's in italian but I think it's comprehensible anyway. "di base" means basic. It's crazy right? I don't know what to think... "Raid" is the name I gave to the drive, because it's funny.... 15. Hi guys! I'm in this strange situation. I've got 2 HDD, Seagate 7200.12 320GB each (FW CC49) connected to the same motherboard, same Intel controller, in AHCI mode. In Windows 7 x64 sp1 I can only see and use them paired togheter, if I connect only one of them Windows sees a big partition of 640GB that won't work, together same thing but it works and it has RAID0 performance (almost doubles seq reads and writes)! I tried Ubuntu and it sees correctly the HDDs as single drives, format them and use only one or the other no problems but Windows can't use only one but always both of them together as if they are configured in RAID. I used to use them in RAID0 in the past with another machine running Windows 7 but now I'm a little surprise of this behavior on a totally different machine set in AHCI on all the sata ports. Any idea? PS. I don't use them as a boot drive but only storage, my boot drive is a 120GB Samsung 840.
