  1. Hi. Is there any free software that allows me to test how accurate the colors on my monitor are? I have an LG Flatron W2353V, which is connected to an MSI Gaming X RX 480
  2. So I'm updating my Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H so that my GPU works properly (trust me, the reason my GPU doesn't work is because my BIOS is very old). I've got the latest BIOS downloaded and extracted into its own folder. What should I put on my USB? Should I just put the whole folder on it? And I know how to do everything else, just not what files I need.
  3. Yeah, it says F8 : Q-Flash in the BIOS. So do I have to download the new version to a USB, or just to my SSD?
  4. I have version F4... Could you please direct me to a reliable site that can tell me how to update my BIOS?
  5. Would this be the right page? The F15 version of the BIOS? Also, I'm from New Zealand, what do I choose, Asia?
  6. So I'm building a mostly second hand PC. It has an i5 3570, Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H rev 1.0, 12 GB of DDR3 RAm @1333 MHz, a MSI Gaming X RX 480, a Crucial BX500 240GB SSD, 500GB Seagate HDD, and an Antec Truepower Classic 650W. I first tested without my GPU, using the integrated graphics. After I pushed the power button the fans revved up to max for a second, then there was a beep, and the system turned on. I believe this is the usual starting sequence. However, when I put my GPU in, there was no beep. All the other components I can confirm work, I tested them in an older system. I have tried literally everything I can think of (full list at the end). I can only do two more things that I can think of. 1) Update the Bios (risky, I've never done it before) 2) Give the motherboard back to the seller a faulty and ask for a new one, or a refund Please help! Full list of things I have tried: - All the different connections that my display supports (DVI-D, D-SUB, HDMI) - Plugging into the integrated GPU - Trying to mess around with settings in the BIOS - Plugged the GPU into the PCI-E x4 slot on my motherboard - Any combination of the above things Here's a link to another thread, dated just before I tested my GPU https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1064534-gpu-not-working/?tab=comments#comment-12573542
  7. I'm going to update my BIOS, and see if that fixes it, if not I'm just going to ask the guy I bought it from for a new one, or a refund (he builds heaps of PCs)
  8. I just tested, both cards work perfectly.
  9. The RX 460 and the RX 480 have the same problem (fans rev up, but no beep and no display). The RX 460 works, I'm testing the RX 480 now
  10. I am using the RX 460 which I know works (I tested in another system). The RX 480 I don't know about, I'm about to test it in that other system
  11. Only GPU's, one of which might not have the right BIOS on it (ex mining card) and the other one works perfectly fine, that's the one I'm using
  12. Just retested, none of the combinations work. When there is no GPU present in the system and I'm running off of the integrated graphics (which works but only by itself) the fans go to max for a second, there is a beep, then the screen comes on. When there is a GPU in the system, no matter what GPU or setting I use, there is no beep after the fans go to max
  13. I think I've tried that, but I'll try again
  14. I tried to install the AMD Drivers, but they didn't install correctly, as it didn't detect any AMD hardware in my system (I had to take the card out to get a display). Would it be possible to just put the card in while the system is running? I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to be done
  15. It won't boot with the GPU installed, is it possible to install the drivers without the card in the system (as in the driver goes on to the computer storage)? It might actually be a diver issue, I completely forgot about them. I've installed the driver for the guaranteed working card on to my SSD now, time to see if its the drivers
  16. My PSU should be fine, I'll test with another one. The only other slot I have is a x4 sadly
  17. The GPU works in another system, and the integrated graphics work when there is no card
  18. I'm using HDMI, although I have also tried DVI-D and VGA, both didn't work. When the card is in the slot, there is no display through the card, or the integrated graphics. This is using a card that I can confirm works in another system
  19. So I am building a mostly second hand/open box build. When I plugged my GPU (RX 480) into my motherboard (GA B75M D3H) it didn't output a display, however all the lights and fans turned on. But I've worked out that's most likely because it's an ex-mining card, therefore it has a mining BIOS on it. Anyway, I put my mum's GPU (an RX 460, verified to work) into it, and the same thing happened. Lights and fans on, no display, not even when I tested using the integrated GPU (I've got an i5 3570 btw). Could this mean my PCIE slot is at least partially dead? It's not fully dead, because it can still power the fans and lights on the cards. Yes, it's a PCIE 3.0 x16 slot, and yes, I made sure that the 8 pin power was plugged in. It all works fine without the GPU. I've also tried messing around with the BIOS boot settings, no luck there. There is usually a beep with a successful boot, when the fans and lights come on but no display, there is no beep
  20. Don't worry mate, we all have those moments. I had one earlier where I thought my PSU was defective because I didn't plug in the 24pin correctly (It's a 20+4pin, so it's annoying). Welcome to PC building!
  21. Geez, what has happened to this thread
  22. I also have an HDD plugged in which already has Windows 10 on it. In my BIOS it is only showing the USB and the HDD, so don't I need to format the SSD first so it's recognized?
  23. I found this on a site. Its a 250GB SSD so would MBR be better?
