  1. How is that CPU being bottlenecked? I'm running an i5-3570 and an RX480 that I've overclocked to run like an RX580, and I have not found any signs of bottlenecking so I'm not sure how a GTX 960 is being bottlenecked by an i5 2500K
  2. Could you give me a few examples please?
  3. Hi all I'm looking for a new phone, as the title suggests. I'm looking for something with a 1080p screen and has the performance to handle it. It needs to have at least 3GB of RAM (my current phone has 2GB and it runs out so easily). I've had the Xiaomi Pocophone recommended to me, and that's slightly higher than my price range. It needs to be under 260USD or 400NZD.
  4. What is your system? I'd say that for most systems its fine
  5. @FatYeeterson Slottr's build seems to be the best option, with the Ryzen 5 2600, imo you could drop down to the Ryzen 5 1600 and overclock it a bit to be equal performance. You could get a RX 580 for cheaper second hand, or even a RX 570 if you want
  6. How used is the mining RX580? From the pictures does it seem to be in good condition?
  7. He needs a monitor though. Do you think that he should drop down to a Ryzen 5 2600 to get some leeway for the monitor? Also why a Samsung 970 Evo? Wouldn't something cheaper be a better option so he has budget for a monitor?
  8. Can you connect your PC to WiFi? If so try that and see if its your PC or the internet. Alternatively you could move your PC downstairs and connect it straight to the router with a cable to see if its the PC or the home plug things
  9. Linus made a video about a case for this, but I can't remember what its called
  10. All my network cards can support ac and n If I open a door I will have line of sight with my router, its about 7 meters
  11. At school my friend connects to 802.11ac, but I have no idea whether the school has 5GHz, I'd guess not, that's why I was asking
  12. I had my PC connected to the 5 GHz, its currently on 2.4 though when I didn't see any difference, I'm going to connect my laptop when I get home
  13. Are you running Windows? That seems about normal for Windows. Go into Task Manager, then go into Startup and disable all things that aren't needed (game updater, game launchers, stuff like Skype etc)
  14. Hi all. When I connect to normal internet I automatically go to the connection type 802.11n. My friend, when connected to the same WiFi, automatically goes to 802.11ac I think (he has a Macbook Pro). When I'm at home on my PC (I can't get wired internet in my room without running a wire through my house) I automatically go to 802.11n, but when I change to the 5GHz on the same router it goes to 802.11ac. Why? Is there any way to make it go to ac automatically? Also, is it harder for my router to run 5GHz compared to 2.4GHz? And is 5GHz actually any faster compared to 2.4GHz? It doesn't seem to make a sped difference
  15. If all your drivers and BIOS are up to date, and the slot isn't damaged then I'm not sure how to help sorry
  16. As long as its a higher end PSU, you should be fine. I'm running a PSU I got second hand, and its about 6 years old, but it was top of the line then, and it still works fine now. Second hand is fine, just make sure the seller says its working.
  17. That could be a dead slot. Try and look to see if there is anything damaged in there
  18. Size is fine, that's how people like me have 12 GB. The only bad thing about size differences is that it can only run in single channel. Speed can also be mixed, but it will automatically clock to the lowest setting I believe. For reference all of this is from my own experience with my PC. I'm running 1x8 and 1x4. The 8GB stick is supposed to be 1600MHz, and the 4GB stick is 1333MHz. Everything seems to be fine for me, although because its a laptop you're working with, your mileage may vary
  19. What are the specs of your PC?
  20. I'm not sure about Windows, but that probably isn't the issue. If I were you I'd check what version of the BIOS is, and if its not the latest one, update it. If that doesn't work, then reinstall Windows, if that doesn't work then flash your GPU BIOS
  21. Update the BIOS. I had the same problem with my RX480 and my LGA1155 mobo. A BIOS update should do the trick. Id that doesn't work then you might have to update the GPU BIOS
  22. The GTX 980 is the most powerful option there, however because it's an older card it requires more power and it runs hotter. It's the best option though
  23. Its really up to you, but it depends on what games you are playing and how future proof you want to be. The 8GB version is more future proof
