  1. Probably around 100-150NZD (66.5-100USD)
  2. Hi all I am looking for a B450/X470 motherboard for a Ryzen 7 2700. It needs to be affordable, and have decent overclocking potential. If the board is likely to support 3rd gen Ryzen then that's great Note: don't mention anything about getting a Ryzen 3rd gen, I have my reasons.
  3. What would you suggest for the motherboard? The x570 boards look expensive and those chipset fans aren't appealing. I've also chosen the 3600x as the most likely CPU
  4. So what about the rest of his system? I was thinking Ryzen 3rd gen maybe? Although maybe a 2nd gen to save money at this point. he is willing to overclock
  5. So would a 2070 be a good idea? A lot of stores around where he lives still stock them, and will probably still stock them for a while.
  6. Hi all So my friend wants a PC to stream modernish games on. (He said he'll be steaming popular games, along with a few of his favorites, Fortnite, Black Ops 4, maybe some newer games). His budget is 2000NZD (about 1330USD), but he would like to keep it as low as possible below that. I'm thinking Ryzen? Also I might ask him to wait for third party RX 5700XT's as they should be much better than the Nvidia alternative. Note: he does not have any peripherals yet, he wants to see what will suit the build.
  7. Its fine. I'm running an i5-3570 (similar performance) with an RX480, and that's going great
  8. Not recommended, but it will work, if it's the gray label. Just don't overclock
  9. Hi all. I am looking for a new phone, my current one is having a few problems, and its not worth it to fix. My store is having a sale at the moment. There are three phones that I'm looking at. They are the Huawei Nova 3e, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, and the Samsung A30 (the A50 is a bit too expensive). What is the best option here? I think the Xiaomi, just because it seems to be better than the others.
  10. Most of the computers in my house have ac WiFi connectivity. (My PC is the only self built PC in the house, and I made sure to get an ac WiFi card) Yeah, I know our speeds aren't that great, but we don't really need internet much faster. Also it starts getting expensive after 100/10. Fibre is still only a few years old where I live, most of New Zealand still doesn't have it...
  11. We have a fibre connection, we just don't need the faster speeds. So just so we are both 100% clear, I've provided pictures this time lol There is a thing outside my house that the outside cables go into. Then on the other sideis this. Then there is a blue Ethernet cable running from that to this, which I believe is my problem. (Is this the modem?) Its connected via the WAN port. I have spoken to a friend, and he is lending me his spare one (modem?) So I can see if that's the problem. (Its a Linkseys WRT1900ACS. Thank you very much for your time and helpful answers
  12. I'll take pictures when I get home
  13. I'm not sure what plugs I have on the box on the wall, I can't see it
  14. So what's the box on the wall? It's inside my house, and is connected to a box outside which is connected to the fibre cables. The thing I need to replace is the thing that gives me WiFi, and is connected via an Ethernet cable to that box on the wall. It also has plugs on the back (labeled DSL, Phone 1 and Phone 2, WAN, and LAN 1-4. Also USB)
  15. I just need something to give me WiFi, that is easy to set up, as I believe our current one is being overloaded (not to long ago I had to factory reset it because of an overload)
  16. We have a box attached to the wall that is connected to the fibre cable outside our house (router??). There is then a cable running from that to our thing that gives us WiFi, which I assume is the modem. (Sorry I messed up the names in my original post).
  17. It's for home use, I'm not sure why they advertise it as "Business". I have Fibre internet with speeds of 100 down, 10 up. I can use either 2.4GHz or 5GHz, my PC isn't too fa from the router. What is the difference between a gateway, router and modem?
  18. Hi all. I'm looking for a new internet router. My current one is struggling with our 8 devices, and can't handle me gaming on it lol. I'm also getting half the advertised speed on WiFi (paid for 100mbps, I'm getting 50 mbps), is that normal? Any recommendations? I don't know much about routers and how they work (I do know what cables to plug in, that's about it). I'm not looking to pay too much, but it has to be better than our current one, a Huawai HG659b (that is my internet provider's website). Please be specific in your recommendations, in a previous post people just recommended getting a mid range ac router, not a specific product. TL;DR: Give router recommendations
  19. It depends on the workload. As far as I know the RTX 2060 is better for raytracing because it's made to do that. However, the GTX 1080ti is better in every other way
  20. Would you have any particular recommendations? Just so I can get an idea
  21. As literally everyone else has said so far: what is the context? Personally I'm running an i5 3570 and an overclocked RX 480, with no signs of bottlenecking so far. It just depends on the workload. I heard that a guy was running a i7 4790k or maybe something worse with a 2070 soo....
  22. Hi all So in my house we have up to 8 devices connected to the internet at the same time, most of them are just web browsing or video streaming, and one gaming. Our modem that came with our plan struggles to handle this, and occasionally the internet almost crashes. (The modem). i'm looking for an alternative to this. i don't need the best thing out there, but I need something that can handle our internet usage. Note: We currently have 50 down 10 up. We will be getting 100 down (maybe 15 up??) in the near future Note 2: None of our computers connect via a cable. There will only be one connected via cable if we ever decide to
  23. Its supported, you might just have to update the BIOS
