  1. Wow. This is really awesome and is pretty much what I need! I wish there was a way to configure using extra parameters to help distinguish between different use cases with the same window name. For example: windows pincode use case has a windows name of "Windows Security" RDP connection use case: I first press "connect", this opens a "Windows Security" window again to enter the password of the RDPed computer, but I need a different password this time. So keepassxc can't distinguish these 2 flows. But it's still a great program and i'll use it. thanks a lot Also do you know what's the difference between keepasscx and regular keepass?
  2. Hey guys, so I was wondering if you know of a password manager/app/tool that could auto-fill passwords for my native applications, not just internet logins but for example: windows PIN code, RDP password when it's prompted
  3. you're a life saver!!!!! I spent so much time on this.......I changed the channel to 36 because no other was available from the list and it instantly appeared. Thanks so much!!!! Do the channels matter though? Am I losing/gaining speed?
  4. from which category should I select? for dummies (like me) I mean - from which paranthesis group? (FCC Band1? FCC Band 4? CE Band 1?)
  5. Hi all, I bought the Edimax AC1750 EW-7833UAC wireless adapter, and as far as I can tell, it's supposed to support 5ghz wifi. Also, I KNOW my router supports it, see attached what it says in it's login page - "wifi mode: a / n / ac" No matter what I do, I can't get the adapter to see the signal. I tried going to device manager -> network adapter -> my edimax adapter -> proprties -> advanced -> wireless, and then tried all options that were there: IEEE 802.11a IEEE 802.11a/n IEEE 802.11a/n/ac IEEE 802.11ac IEEE 802.11b IEEE 802.11b/g IEEE 802.11b/g/n and it still can't find it. I'm not a networking expert and I thought that there would be no problem for this adapter to work with my router. Was I wrong? Are they not compatible? And if they are, what could possible be the problem? :(
  6. Thanks for helping! Yes you're the 2nd person now to recommend an 8-core ryzen cpu. I just don't know how they compare to the i7-10750H for example? Do you have a ryzen laptop?
  7. First of all thanks for helping! What you said about the GPU kind of confused me - does that specific laptop (the xmg) allow it's 2060 to run at higher wattages while other laptops do not? Also, I am inexperienced with AMD's CPUS, so I don't know how does the 4800H compare to, for example. the intel i7-10750H which is the one these 3 have?
  8. Hi, I wanna buy a gaming laptop and I have 3 options which are very similar in hardware but 1 differs in it's original price vastly than the other 2. I don't know which brands are considered better or something like that, and I wanted to get your recommendations please. The first one is Gigabyte Aorus 15G which goes 1500 after a supposedly huge discount off the alleged original 2200. This is the one with the far higher original price than the others. The second is HP OMEN 17 (2020) which goes for 1450 and it's virtually identical to the Aorus except it has 17.3" screen and it's GPU is 2070 and not the 2070 max Q - I am unaware if that makes a big difference. The third is MSI GL75 Leopard 10SFK-029 which is 1400 and is like the HP OMEN except it also has a 1 TB HDD. So my questions in order of importance are: Which do you recommend? Do you have any idea why the Aorus, which has almost identical HW (slight tradeoff - better GPU, smaller screen) goes for such a higher original price? And also, do you think I should wait for the new laptops which will have the 30xx series GPUs? I don't know when those will appear and how much I should expect them to cost, but considering the 30xx sell cheaper, maybe it's worth waiting? Bonus question - if you happen to be a programmer, would these laptops be suitable for that as well? Compile / build code fast ect...? Thanks a lot!!!
  9. Hey guys, this is actually quite a serious question...and hardly a simple one. So basically, my friend had his apartment broken into the other day. The only thing we're sure of is that the thief had a phone. There are no leads and I was wondering if anyone happens to know of a way to find out information about his phone that was inside the apartment? Maybe the router saves some sort of information about the devices it sees in the vicinity? Maybe other devices in the house, like an iPad for example, have "seen" the phone or something like that and saved the data? As you can tell im not an expert and am just throwing possible directions. I know computer science but not communication.
  10. So after setting up a new VM and giving it my spare mouse/kb, there will be 2 instances of mice and keyboards? i.e. 2 cursors on each monitor and each monitor to respond to a another keyboard?
  11. Can you elaborate? What would I have to do? And would this allow me to use my main desktop and another person the VM with his own set of KB/mouse?
  12. Hello, I've been searching the web for this but would love to get an updated answer. Suppose I have 1 PC with windows 10, 2 monitors 2 keyboards and 2 mice, but only 1 GPU. Is it possible to have 2 users do whatever they like simultaneously? (Perhaps with windows 10's multiple desktops feature?) Thanks
  13. Hello good people. So, it's going to take a while to explain the chain of events leading to my current problem, I know it's convoluted and long but please bear with me and I will try to explain it as best as I can. My dad's pc has 2 hard drives: an old drive from which he created a clone ("new") a month ago, and the clone on which he has been working since. They both have several partitions. Each drive has a partition on which win 7 is installed and one on which win 10 is installed, and he's only been using the new one for the past month. Yesterday, he was trying to back up a .pst file from win 7 (probably not very important). Upon completion, he used partition magic 8.0 (what he's always been using) to switch to the win 10 partition, but something went wrong and win 10 couldn't load and instead we got a "something went wrong :(" blue screen which then lead us to some of win 10's troubleshooting tools - none of which worked (they all threw some kind of errors). Ironically, while you might think that is what I was gonna ask about, it is not, because since yesterday we've made matters even worse. Don't ask why, but today we used the same program with which my dad cloned the old hard drive - "Acronis" - to delete the contents of some unused partition from the new drive. We thought that it might help us with something but it didn't, and what followed is pretty bad. Upon leaving Acronis and trying to boot again (back to the win 10 troubleshooting tools) we suddenly got a black screen with the msg "No operating system found". It seems that for some reason, after deleting the old unused partition, that partition was somehow set to be the active partition. At this point we connected back the old hard drive (which is working fine) and entered win 7 to take a look at the disks and partitions inside the Disk Management tool. I think the partitions of the new drive got completely messed up. For one, none of the partitions had a drive letter next to them. Additionally, the active partition was indeed the empty one which we had deleted (I don't understand this topic too much but I am pretty sure the partitions are not the way they're supposed to be, just from comparing them to the old drive). So, I looked around google and tried to use DISKPART (via cmd). With diskpart I was able to do 3 things: 1. Change the right partition to be the active one (the leftmost one). 2. Assigned the letter E to the volume that represents the new hard drive - after which the letter E appeared next to the right-most partition. 3. Set the "info" attribute of that volume so it wouldn't be "Hidden" (I thought this might solve the issue). After that I tried to boot from the windows 7 partition (the one I set to Active) of the new drive and indeed the logo of windows 7 appeared(!!!) but got hung on the splash screen. I don't know what else to do and could really use some help. Here are some relevant screenshots: As you can see, Disk 0 is my faulty new drive, and it's left most partition is the one I set to active using diskfrat...but win 7 just hangs when I boot it. The right-most partition (454 MB) for some reason is the only one that's associated with volume E. Disk 1 is my old drive which works fine. This is a screenshot from DISKPRAT showing the partitions I have on my old drive, and the details of Partition #1 which is working and booting my old win 7. And lastly, this shows the partition on my new drive, as well as details on Partition #1 which is set to Active but NOT WORKING
  14. I'll recommend that he does that, but first we need to solve this problem..
  15. He works with customers, some of which have win 7 and some win 10, so he needs to know his way around both. It has been working for a while now..there shouldn't be a problem.
