  1. Thank you. I ended up getting the Mushkin and all are working good. Not sure why I'm always hesitant to try different brands
  2. Hi everyone, Are Mushkin SSD's good/reliable? I ask because I'm not familiar with the brand and just starting to see them popup in local stores here. I recently acquired 7 laptops in a trade I couldn't pass up on. I've got 4 Lenovo T420's and 3 DELL E6430 all are in great condition. I'm keeping a couple for myself as spares and the rest are going out to family or friends that need them. I'm purchasing 7 SSD's and the cheapest I'm now seeing are: Mushkin TRIACTOR 3DL 120GB 2.5" Read: 550MB/s; Write: 300MB/s Solid State Drive (MKNSSDTR120GB-3DL) -$45 Mushkin Source 250GB 2.5" SATA III Solid State Drive (SSD) Read: 560MB/s Write: 515MB/s (MKNSSDSR250GB) - $80 Mushkin TRIACTOR 3DL 250GB 2.5" Read: 550MB/s; Write: 500MB/s Solid State Drive (MKNSSDTR250GB-3DL) - $80 The person I'm purchasing from owns a local computer shop but he cuts me deals if I pay cash no sales tax kinda thing (13%). These are Canadian prices. Between the discount and and already being the cheapest drive it's saving me a fair bit over the other brands. A couple of these laptops are going to students in University so my main question/concern is if this brand is just as reliable as any other or? Thanks!
  3. I'm working on a few laptops this weekend and this is driving me nuts. I have two Lenovo T420 ThinkPad's that are getting SSD's. Both have latest BIOS. This does not appear to be BIOS issue/option. They are BOTH working with an ADATA SSD Ultimate SU800 256GB They will BOTH not detect an ADATA SSD Ultimate SU650 120GB. Sounds like the 120GB drive is the issue right? Well it boots perfect fine a Lenovo Ideapad. Crystal disk shows no issues. I'm at a loss here. I really don't want to have to purchase another SSD for the T420 when I can't figure out why this single 120GB one will not detect. I've been over the BIOS options 100x and its not that. Swap the 256 drive between the two and detects/boots with no issues. I can get to the Windows 10 install point where it will let you load drivers but none exist for the ADATA SSD Ultimate SU650 120GB, at least they are not to be found on ADATA's website. Any ideas?
  4. Yeah for that price I'd be happy with that purchase. Kind of sad with the current market prebuilts are appealing again but it is what it is! The Dell workstation I've got is a T3500 with a Xeon W3550. The thing is a beast and I can't bring myself to get rid of it. It's a spare now, I tossed a 1050ti in it before GPU prices went up and now the nephews use it got gaming when they visit.
  5. What I'd do is sell the 16gb you've got now and replace it with 8GB x 2 of the memory of your choice. You'll be running faster and in dual channel and should be able to get a decent price for the 16GB you've got now. I almost bought that same Dell from Costco back in September but ended up building wtih a 1700 instead. Looked like a decent setup for a prebuilt and I was always happy with my older Dell workstations.
  6. I'd probably go with the 2200G. Might be have a higher resale value due to the APU. Although they are both very cheap chips to begin with so not really sure that would be a factor. Also if your GPU ever fails on you then you've got a backup until if you find a proper replacement.
  7. You cannot remove the 530 and no. the 1030 and 530 will not work together. The 91watt you are thinking of is used by the CPU.
  8. Well if it's not getting enough power good chance it won't work. I do not have high hopes for you 1030 working fine while missing 10watt. My guess is it will either not work or crash when under load.
  9. I snagged a 1700 around boxing day sales that was I think $160 (Canadian) off. I can't remember exactly what I paid as I picked up a few things that day but I've been very happy with my purchase.
  10. I'd not go with that FM2 board/Athlon that you are considering. If you are going with AMD look at the AM4 Ryzen lineup. These are the APU's the other guys mentioned: https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-Processor-Radeon-Graphics/dp/B079D3DBNM/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1520297398&sr=1-1&keywords=Ryzen+2200g https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-Processor-Radeon-Graphics/dp/B079D8FD28/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1520297429&sr=1-1&keywords=Ryzen+2400g You would pair one of those with a B350 motherboard/DDR4 and no need for a GPU for now. Those integrated graphics are going to be as good as the 1030 but not really better.
  11. Do you already have this board or are you putting together something new for as cheap as possible?
  12. Thing is from OP signature: Computer - HP Compaq 6005 Pro Small Form Factor Assuming that's what he's working with along with a tight budget since given the cards they are looking at.
  13. The R5 1400 is already 4core/8threads. Depending on what you are doing you might not even notice you've upgraded to the 1600. Unless you are doing something that will truly benefit from the extra cores/threads it might not really be much of an upgrade. I'm not so sure I'd put a 1700 in that HP board either. If this was my system the priorities would be to get an SSD first. If this is strictly a gaming system I wouldn't be upgrading the CPU at this time as I think you'll be disappointed. If you are video editing or using apps that can benefit the extra cores maybe it would be worthwhile.
  14. What now? If you can't tell it is a scam at this point I'm worried for your well being.
