Would I be okay with with non-EXPO RAM with the 7950x?

Awesome! Thanks a lot for your help! I hope I don't have to wait for too long for the RAM and everything will go smoothly! -

I'm luckily not in a hurry to build the system, so I might just wait a bit and get the Neo to avoid potential problems. Do you see any other potential problems in the build? -

Unfortunately no. 64GB kits seem to be surprisingly hard to come by. The g.skill trident from what I know is quite reliable and also, even though not a priority, i do like how it looks as well. CL30 6000Mhz Neo 64GB kit would be ideal, and its just very hard to find, hah -

Thanks! It's a 3D Workstation build. Unreal Engine, Blender, Maya, some video editing so Premiere as well. I might either wait the 4 weeks for the 64 GB Neo version or get 32 gigs instead... -

This is the build I have prepared for now: PCPartPicker Part List CPU: *AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 4.5 GHz 16-Core Processor ($573.99 @ Newegg) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler ($114.94 @ Newegg Sellers) Motherboard: Asus PRIME X670E-PRO WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard ($339.99 @ Amazon) Memory: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory ($314.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive ($139.99 @ Adorama) Video Card: Gigabyte GAMING OC GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12 GB Video Card ($849.99 @ B&H) Case: Fractal Design Meshify 2 Compact RGB ATX Mid Tower Case ($139.99 @ B&H) Power Supply: Corsair RM850 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($214.49 @ Amazon) Total: $2688.37 -
Thanks! I'm aware of the size issues with the NH-D15 and the RAM, and I was going to solve it by replacing the outer fan with a 120mm one. However I might reconsider whether I need 64GB of RAM in the first place. Currently I'm on 16 and constantly running out, so I was just going to go beyond 32, but perhaps that's not necessary

Budget (including currency): Around 3000€ Country: Slovakia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Unreal Engine (4 and 5), Autodesk Maya, 3D Work generally, Adobe Premiere. Newer games like Cyberpunk, including VR titles Other details : For monitors, I'll be using dual 1080p 60Hz monitors. Might do an upgrade on that in the future but for now it's sufficient Hi! I'm looking to build a new high end system for my 3D Work. I've done some research and configured a system based on my findings, and what components my local seller has: PCPartPicker Part List CPU: *AMD Ryzen 9 7950X 4.5 GHz 16-Core Processor ($573.99 @ Newegg) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler ($114.94 @ Newegg Sellers) Motherboard: Asus PRIME X670E-PRO WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard ($339.99 @ Amazon) Memory: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory ($314.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive ($139.99 @ Adorama) Video Card: Gigabyte GAMING OC GeForce RTX 4070 Ti 12 GB Video Card ($849.99 @ B&H) Case: Fractal Design Meshify 2 Compact RGB ATX Mid Tower Case ($139.99 @ B&H) Power Supply: Corsair RM850 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($214.49 @ Amazon) Total: $2688.37 The main questions I have are about the RAM and the PSU. From what I've seen, Ryzen AM5 benefits from tighter timings, and that G.Skill kit was the only one that was CL30 and not CL40. However, I know there's also a "Neo" version of that RAM kit, and I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes. I believe the Neo version works generally better with AM5? But since the seller has only the non-Neo version as a 2x32GB CL30 600Mhz kit, would it be okay, or should I look for something else? (Slower speed, Higher timings) As for the PSU, I wasn't sure what exactly to look out for, but this one seemed like a good quality for my needs. Is there anything specific I should look out for with the PSU? All the help is appreciated.

Budget (including currency): 1000 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 3D work, Zbrush, Marmoset, Unreal Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Hello, I'm looking to do an upgrade to my existing build. I don't game on the PC almost at all, it's primarily used as a 3D workstation. The aim so to upgrade the necessary parts without spending a ton of money on it, not sure if the GPU is important as it's not the focus of the build, but I have a 1050ti and will be keeping that for now. This is the parts list I put together: PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CLtCrr CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor ($479.99 @ B&H) CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 280 72.8 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard ($169.99 @ Newegg) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory ($63.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($59.99 @ Amazon) Power Supply: EVGA BQ 600 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply ($59.99 @ Newegg) Total: $833.95 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-11-27 18:10 EST-0500 I'm not sure about the cooling and the motherboard. I need cooling that will cool the CPU nicely, and the motherboard needs to be good enough to support the CPU. I don't plan on overclocking, and the motherboard doesn't need Wi-fi, i chose that one because it was one of the better priced options. Thanks for your suggestions!

Populating all 4 RAM slots on Asus Prime X370 Pro?
Klulas replied to Klulas's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Thanks. Thought that might be the case. The thing is, like I said, getting 2 new sticks of 16 GB and replacing the ones I have, is twice the price of just buying 2 more and thus populating all 4 slots. I'm not sure how big of a difference in performance it would actually cause. -

Obviously I wouldn't be asking about the extra ram if I didn't need it -

I wouldn't be talking about increasing the capacity if I didn't need it -

I would like to buy 2 more 8 GB sticks of the same type I have, as they are lowprofile and fit in my case with the noctua cooler. It's also obviously cheaper to buy 2 more 8 GB sticks than just buying new, 2x16 GB sticks. My question is whether this is a good idea, and whether It's likely i would run into some performance drop or other issues with my build.

I currently have a GTX 1050Ti. I'm looking to get a new GPU and after some research, the RX 5700 XT seems to be the best price/performance for my budget and use. The upgrade is primarily for gaming. With Cyberpunk and other new titles coming out soon, the 1050Ti isn't all that sufficient anymore. The second use for the GPU is 3D work in Autodesk Maya. I'm specifically looking to buy the Sapphire Pulse version of the card. So my question is, whether I should buy the card now (if I should buy it at all) or whether I should wait and see what the rumored new gen from AMD looks like. This is what my build would look like with the RX 5700 XT: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 7 1700X 3.4 GHz 8-Core Processor $158.99 @ Amazon CPU Cooler Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler Motherboard Asus PRIME X370-PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard $153.20 @ Amazon Memory Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory $64.99 @ Best Buy Storage Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Video Card Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB PULSE Video Card $403.98 @ Newegg Case Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case $99.98 @ Newegg Power Supply EVGA BQ 750 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply $83.99 @ Amazon Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total $965.13 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-12-14 10:33 EST-0500

Thank you. I did this and it seems to sound better now. it's very strange. I tried messing around with the equalizer for a long time but some parts either sounded too dull or the "S" sounds were ear piercing... Thanks again
