  1. Thank you very much, I'll look into these.
  2. I'll go elsewhere, thanks anyway.
  3. Hello. This is my current router: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Router-External-Antennas-WNR2020v2/dp/B00MRVJYEI/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1514452918&sr=8-16&keywords=netgear+router Meh. I'd like to upgrade, but my needs are modest, as is my budget, so ideally I'd like to spend $50 or so The only criteria I can think if is Gigabit ports. VPN support would be really nice but I realize it's unlikely at that price. Can anyone recommend something that doesn't suck? Thanks.
  4. Me: "Sponsor logo T-Shirts, Damn what that all about?" Linus: "So, there's no fixed budget..." Ah, gotcha.
  5. I see what you did there, and I'm not sure how to feel about it.
  6. I asked myself the same question when there were hundreds of fake Nintendo Switch listings near the time of it's release. I guess it's just hard to keep up with the sheer amount of spam? As soon as one bogus listing goes down another one pops up.
  7. Thunderbolt Enclosures are awesome. I've seen people in our industry (broadcast) use them to enclose 4 Port HD Video Capture Cards. 4 Camera (Like, studio cameras) 1080p Livestream off a laptop.
  8. @nickmlg @LinusTech If OBS doesn't work out for you guys or if you need to step it up in terms of capability, you should check out vMix. It's professional vision mixing software and it's insanely versatile and efficient. It's also extremely optimized for GeForce GPU acceleration, which may be a plus for you guys. We use it at my company for sports broadcasting, but I've seen it used in just about any application imaginable. It's also very easy to automate with shortcuts, triggers, support for MIDI controllers, etc. There's a 60 day free trial if you guys want to check it out. Yes, I know I sound like a shill, but the truth is I just think it's fantastic software.
  9. What I mean is, the production software I use, vMix, is enabled to take advantage of MIDI controllers and various commands. You can plug in a standard MIDI controller and map each button, slider, knob, etc. What you said in the third line is exactly what we typically use them for actually. Each slider on our MIDI controller adjusts a separate audio channel from our interface, while the knobs adjust gain, then we use the standard buttons for hotkeys and such. We've used other MIDI controllers for stuff like scrubbing through instant replay and analog control over transitions.
  10. So how's the compatibility for programs that aren't officially supported? Can I map it through hotkeys? I REALLY wish it had MIDI command support. This thing looks great, but isn't officially supported by vMix (or any high-end vision mixing software really, I know their target demo is gamers, but this thing would do KILLER in the broadcast market if they supported what we use.)
  11. @CPotter @LinusTech REALLY bad spam situation on this YouTube video as of now. People pretending to be Linus posting fake links / scams in droves. Just FYI. Edit: Appears to be dying down / getting buried, or action was taken. Either way, good. Obviously normally I wouldn't worry about mentioning "YouTube Comments are bad", or general violations for that matter. But I feel like your company name and trust is one of your biggest assets, so I figured it's worth a heads up when it's being used in a potentially damaging way. / End Edit
  12. Alright that's fine. Again, I'm not talking about limits or maximum rates, but rather the average number. All that I'm referring to is the answer to OP's question, which didn't initially involve the concept of limits, but rather, an average number representative of the possible perceived "resolution" and "framerate" of most human's eyes, and I don't see sufficient evidence to confidently state such a figure. Theoretical limits, min/max, or anything else derivative of the original single question, I have no opinion on, and therefore am not debating.
  13. I'd argue that it's not a strong enough consensus to "go on" and that the best solution would be to wait until there's even more evidence to have a proper discussion about it. But that's simply my opinion. The various articles may support the same ideas, but the numbers I've seen between individual studies have quite a degree of variance, probably due to variability in the individuals in different sample groups. And that's really all the original question was about, was the numbers for resolution and FPS on average that the human eye is capable of seeing, and I'm not convinced there is a definite answer to that question yet. But far be it from me to stomp on the right to debate, even if I personally do feel it's a bit pre-mature to be discussing at this point in time.
