I got a pair of Grado GS1000e headphones.

So far so good. They don't really sound like the Grado headphones I've tried in the past, as these are really mid-focused. Their soundstage is also very impressive.

I think that's part of the point. For some reason, Grado haven't changed their headphone design in almost 30 years. From the cheapest to the most expensive, they're all designed the same.
I guess they're really going for that retro feeling.

In the home studio I use Event Opal active monitors. They're getting up there in years, but they're still amazing for mixing.

In the office I use a pair of Quad S-2 speakers.

I got myself a new keyboard and some fans for my case.

The wireless Dell keyboard in my home studio decided to conk out yesterday. It had 15 years of trusty service. Might give it a worthy viking funeral.
I decided to move my Ducky keyboard down there and buy something new for the office. Not gonna lie, the keyboard market is fucking confusing these days, so I just pulled the trigger on something that seemed to fit my criteria. Might switch the keyboards again, after I figure which one is the best one to type on.

I got the fans, as I'm really tired of the noise the ones in my case makes. Now I'll have all Noctua all the way around.

I also got some German litterature to keep myself occupied during our 11th month of lockdown:

Also, I do realize my deskmat really needs to go in the washer.

I bought a Vincent SV-237MK speaker amplifier for the living room. I swear, hifi equipment has the sexiest names:

Yes, I'm waiting for a new shelf, as well.

It's meant to replace a Harmon Kardon Citation tube amplifier, which was honestly more work than it was worth.
The Vincent is a very decent piece of kit for the money. It has plenty of power and it sounds great.

By this point I'm sure having a hobby is just being a shopaholic with a purpose.

I would certainly try for an RMA if possible. I've had plenty of planar headphones (including the Sundara), and non of them have done anything like that. If it's enough of an annoyance, I would certainly try contacting HiFiMan about getting your pair repaired or replaced.

I've had electrostatic headphones that did something akin to what you describe, but that technology is also a lot more sensitive to vibrations and pressure.

The HD660S' should come with a balanced Pentacon cable. I'm not sure if IFI has adopted that standard, but an adapter might be cheaper than a full cable.

Personally, I like the Toppping A50s. It's a very clean amplifier when used balanced. However, I wasn't too impressed with the D50s.

This is a repost from somewhere else, so excuse the Black Sabbath album.

This is Astrid (left) and Bertha (right).
They're of the breed Broholmer (or Danish Mastiff if you prefer), a uniquely Danish breed of Molosser.

The office stereo is almost done being upgraded. Once Corona lockdowns are over I'll go shopping for speakers.

But for now the used market has been very kind to me.

    The most recent editions are:
A Denon PRA-1500 pre-amp, which I found in electronics waste. All it needed was a good clean and some Deoxid in the pots to work perfectly. A PS Audio Stellar S300 power amplifier. Unfortunately, it isn't the black version, but it was $500 so I'm not complaining. Yes, I know the power amp is technically supposed to be on top, but I've crushed one too many CD players in my life to do that again. It's also a class A/D amp, so it doesn't produce a lot of heat.  A Cambridge Audio Azur 840C CD player. This is the newest edition to the stack. I haven't played around with it too much, but it's really nice so far.
