BarackOBatman reacted to KingTdiGGiTTy in New 720p monitors. Good or Bad idea?
Not really, you can buy a new one straight from factory for under $50. Unless you're shopping for really weird or cheap laptops that doesn't make up much of the cost.
if you're desperate enough that you'd settle for that. Just buy a small 720p TV.

I agree, would also be a great portable screen for steam deck / other portable PC

BarackOBatman reacted to mariushm in How to listen to CDs on PC
In the past you had to connect the cd/dvd unit to the sound card using an analogue or digital audio cable.
Since after Windows 98, Windows is smart enough to read the data from discs digitally as 1s and 0s and play it... also, a lot of audio players support reading the audio tracks.
If you want as perfect as possible, you can use Exact Audio Copy to grab all the audio tracks and automatically encode them to FLAC (lossless quality) or Opus (lossy, but much better than mp3 or aac, at high bitrate it's practically lossless)

USB disk readers are basically as good as SATA ones by and large, I doubt you'd have any issues with this.

I got my order in. I'll let you all know if it works.
Also, this may be price error, yes, but other retailers might price match to corsair's official store, so there's also that option.

Probably a pricing error, I'm gonna take advantage of it even though I don't need another PSU lol.

BarackOBatman reacted to homeap5 in Seeking Advice for Audio Upgrade
I mean yes, game sound are nicer on nicer headphones, but while playing game you don't really focus on sound. And after minute or two you'll forget about that difference.
Music is much more demanding. Is prepared as good as possible by specialists who have years of experience and final product requires good speakers, because otherwise you loose many details and sound may be the reason you have no pleasure listening it. Gunshots or car engine may be good quality too, but seriously - is this really something you expect to be perfect because you may miss any details? I don't think so.

BarackOBatman reacted to Bayron in Which GPU to buy
If u want more future proof go for 1650 super, I have one (bought last month) and all games(at least I have tested) on high 1080p is 60+ fps, only gripe I would say is the 4gb ram, but it's gddr6 it's fast, check some tests on YouTube between rx 570 and 1650 super and ull see 1650 super is a it better, BUT DON'T BUY REGULAR 1650!!!

BarackOBatman reacted to DominicNikon in GTX 1080Ti doing Terrible Preformance in Ray Tracing but similar specs?
The GTX 1080ti doesn't have the RTX features like ray tracing cores which allow it to render ray tracing more efficiently.

the XFC RX 570 8 GB says it requires a 500w PSU so yes its enough.

BarackOBatman reacted to Kilrah in Switching between speakers and headphones
This may or may not be possible depending on the sound chip used in your PC. Some only expose a single output for both and it's jack presence that decides what sound comes out from.

BarackOBatman reacted to Fasauceome in Fastest GPU for i5 6400
idk if the 6400 can pull off a consistent 144Hz in any of those games, regardless of the GPU.
The GTX 1060 you have already is a fairly decent pairing tbh.

BarackOBatman reacted to Kilrah in What is missing off the PCB? TUF z390- pro gaming
These are PCIe muxes... typically used to remap PCIe lanes between slots.
It looks like a manufacturing defect where they were never installed since there are no traces of removal.
You'll need to find high enough resolution images of the board (or look at another one) to see what type they are, then search for those.

been here
you can gently dab a paper towel with isopropyl alcohol on it, then dab with a dry paper towel. The discoloration may never go away but it'll work.

BarackOBatman reacted to RadiatingLight in Urgent help needed on choosing a 1650 super
No, not worth it. All 1650 Super cards will perform roughly the same, and differences in cooler/VRM are minor and won't make much of a difference.

BarackOBatman reacted to homeap5 in Lightning killed my PC
First - remove all expansion cards including GPU and remove all usb cables except keyboard. Use only CPU and internal graphics (I assume you have one since your motherboard is Z170). There is big probability that some of your pci-e cards makes problem. That will be good for you (for diagnose) and bad at the same time (graphics card is probably not so cheap).
Years ago lighting fried my TV card (that I don't even use and never had connected antenna to it). My computer do not turn on with that card plugged in after.
