  1. Anyone else think it would be a good idea for display manufacturers to come out with new production 1280x720 19" or 18" (or other lower res) gaming monitors? I think there is a potential new, untapped market of low-budget oriented gamers running low end GPUs such as integrated Vega graphics that could really take advantage of such a product until low-budget midrange GPUs are a commonly available product again. A 18" 720p monitor for example has identical pixel density (and therefore equal image quality at the same viewing distance) to a 27" 1920x1080 monitor, and would be a pretty ok compromise in my opinion. Yeah 18" is kinda small, but it's considerably bigger than most laptops. These new displays could have new features like 90 or 120hz refresh rate, adaptive refresh rate, ips panels, improved contrast and improved peak brightness versus currently available lower end monitors. The closest thing I can currently find that kind of fits this idea is a 2021 TN 1600x900 20" 75hz adaptive refresh model from Spectre with a pretty undesirable stand that sits way too low to the desk on its own. Thoughts?
  2. any idea on the gleam secret code entry?
  3. Video Idea: $h!t Manufacturers Say: EVGA Power Boost improves PCIe stability for overclocking https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=100-MB-PB01-BR
  4. Maybe a bit of a silly question... Any recommendations on what hardware (CD player) and software to listen to CDs on with the best quality? My PC does not have an optical drive but I do own an external one .https://www.newegg.com/nurbenn-model-gll-121-cd-rom-drive/p/105-005S-00001?Item=9SIAH197TP2724 Will this do?
  5. The one in the video is the 120GB model. The one in the link is the 240 GB.
  6. I'm really only familiar with US pricing. Perhaps someone else here can comment? These are usually in the $400-$420 USD price range over here (320-335 GBP)
  7. RTX 2070 is better than RTX 2060 Super RTX 2070 is slightly better depending on use case than RX 5700XT I'd go with RTX 2070 over the 5700 XT personally, but its really a bit of a toss up.
  8. I got my order in. I'll let you all know if it works. Also, this may be price error, yes, but other retailers might price match to corsair's official store, so there's also that option.
  9. I don't have any personal experience with these two. They're likely very very similar. I'm sure there is a negligible difference like 1% in performance. If you need a definite yes or no as to which is better, perhaps someone with more knowledge on these specific models can answer. Personally, I'd pick whichever is less expensive.
  10. People will joke that ASUS charges an "asus tax" just for the brand name alone. I'd go with the Sapphire Nitro+ The difference is just the cooler and any preconfigured overclock/power settings. These factors are pretty negligible for a gpu of this caliber so cheaper is usually a better deal. Another thing to check though is the number GB of VRAM onboard, they make two different capacities, 4GB and 8GB. If this ASUS is 8GB anf the Nitro+ is 4GB then that could be the reason it cost so much more.
  11. RX 570 would be my pick of these two.
  12. Okay perfect Thanks for your answer. Gaming is really my primary concern since I mostly listen to music in the car. I'll put the money toward that. And yes I really though the gunshot or car engine would be nicer LOL! Especially since EVGA advertises that their nu audio soundcards improve you gaming experience, I though this was a thing. evga.com/articles/01281/evga-nu-audio/
  13. Hello, I am looking for some advice. Here's some background for my current setup and it's use case. Speakers: Logitech Z623 2.1 Headphones: Sennheiser HD 429s Sound Card: Z390 Aorus Master Onboard (According to the MFG page, ALC1220-VB and ESS SABRE (reference DAC ES9118)) https://www.aorus.com/blog-detail.php?i=309 Microphone: Blue Microphones Yeti Studio Considering I have top end Gaming setup, I'd like to have a pretty nice audio setup to go along. I mostly use the headphones for FPS games, chatting on discord, and also any team game that requires voice chat for that matter. I use the speakers for everything else including music listening and all other gaming. I generally prefer NOT wearing headphones if i don't need them. Its about 50/50 as far as usage goes though because i play a decent amount of FPS. I feel it is safe to say that the headphones are certainly the weakest link. Regarding open back VS closed back, there is a varying noise floor where I game. For starters, my PC is kept on my desk and is kinda noisy since I run the fans at max in pursuit of chasing that last degree of cooling in order to achieve the fastest overclock attainable for the best frametime performance possible while gaming. I cant notice it when i'm wearing my HD 429s headphones though. I frequently have have guests in the area where I game as I live with my dad and brother who are doing their own thing in the man-cave. There is also a loud dehumidifier that we run in the warmer months which I can hear over the headphones and certainly puts a damper on the audio experience. (I sometimes turn it off and turn it back on when i'm done.) I'm mainly considering upgrading to a better headphones, but I'll consider upgrading other areas of my setup if any of you guys think it could use it. My budget is $100-$400. I like to go the best "bang for buck" or value proposition. I was considering this open box Shure SRH1440 for $198.51 (after %5 discount for microcenter card) which includes the 2 year manufacturer warranty. https://www.microcenter.com/product/617685/shure-srh1440-professional-open-back-headphones---black?ob=1 Also, should i purchase Dolby Atmos for $15? is it worth it over the free windows sonic? If its not worth upgrading at all and I should just keep my current setup, I'll consider that as well of course. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.
  14. Perhaps consider a B-stock EVGA RTX 2060 for $260? https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=06G-P4-2060-RX The catch is, it only comes with a 1 year warranty
  15. The 1860 MHz vs 1830 MHz means basically nothing since the Nvidia drivers will automatically boost the clockspeed higher than those numbers thanks to GPU boost. The RGB fusion is a gimmick for all practical purposes, though some people like the customization. (Keep in mind that you are technically paying extra for this vs a graphics card that does not have it.) The real difference is the cooling performance and overclocking headroom. At the end of the day the difference is pretty small. I imagine they go through the hassle because they get slightly higher profit margins on the more expensive 3 fan one that some people who value the RGB and cooling performance are willing to pay a little extra for. You are correct that some will buy so it fits in a smaller case, but for most, this is a non-issue. My pick would be the two fan one since it is the better performance for the dollar and this is to be used as a stopgap until next gen GPUs.
  16. Typically, with a single GPU in mind, the best performance per dollar is just whichever is cheapest at the time you are looking to buy. Once you start getting into the higher end model of a particular video card, you tend to start getting into the price range of a better gpu all together, especially since the market is soo crowded as of late. If prices are equal, often more fans = more better but not necessarily 100% of the time. A little research can usually answer that. A lot of tech youtubers do extensive testing to determine which cooler from the manufacturers are the best. All of the different models of a certain video card typically fall within a few percent of each other performance wise so I'd just go with the cheapest barring one exception, a "blower style" cooler. These blower coolers are usually hot and loud. The gaming performance will be about on par, maybe a couple percent worse at most, but at the cost of a ton of noise and with no hope of overclocking.
  17. Can you upgrade your VRAM? Heres the idea: Take an old video card like a GTX 550ti since there are multiple models with varying capacities of VRAM and solder on the additional GDDR5 chips. (maybe using Louis Rossmann's SRT BGA rework machine?) Flash updated bios and viola! Not sure if it'll work on a newer card like GTX 1060 since the GPU silicon itself is different for the 6GB and 3GB versions.
  18. Okay, I get the feeling that the power cord thing isn't going to work... If you updated the BIOS to the latest version, you should be good to go on that front. Should be non issue. Here's a bunch of other things I'd try: - move video card to the second slot - try another video card - try to power on with no RAM at all. If you have a speaker hooked to your motherboard, you should get a whole bunch of sparatic beeps and no POST. If you can't hear the beeps, could be bad MOBO - try to power on with no CPU at all. Not sure what to make of this, but if you somehow experience the same issues with no CPU whatsoever, could probably narrow down the issue to either the CPU or MOBO - power on and let it sit for like 5 minutes. Sometimes ram training and first boot on new bios just take a while. Screen flashing and apparent additional resets can be normal.
  19. Ah. Perhaps a silly question, but you are certain the HDMI is hooked to the video card and NOT the motherboard? Were you able to/ did you try to get a POST on the previous BIOS version? Another thing I have had varying degrees of success with that may be worth a shot is to: - unplug power cord - press and hold the power button on your case for 30-60 seconds - replug the power cord - reboot
  20. Something doesn't add up? How have you validated the both RAM channels work and also flashed the BIOS when you aren't getting a POST? As far as I know, you can't do either of those things unless you are at least POST ing and getting into the UEFI.
  21. Yes, you'll be able to perform any future BIOS updates with the 3700x.
  22. Since it has been updated to the latest BIOS It will work just fine. No issues.
  23. They would work great together. You could buy more GPU if you can afford it, but there is nothing wrong with your component selection.
  24. I think this 350 watt unit would be sufficient. EDIT: On second though, maybe not quote enough watts? https://www.amazon.com/SilverStone-Technology-Supply-Connector-SST-FX350-G-USA/dp/B07QGMX5DW/ref=asc_df_B07QGMX5DW/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=380013417597&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3135380492921065707&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9007574&hvtargid=pla-817080367406&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=77922879259&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=380013417597&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3135380492921065707&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9007574&hvtargid=pla-817080367406
