  1. I edited the previous reply after I reread your message. The thermals will suck but the 1080 will still perform quite a bit better regardless. The sucky thermals are not going to hurt anything, as it won't be overheating. It just won't boost very high and it will be louder.
  2. Do you already have a 1070? If you haven't purchased a video card yet, I would go with a 1080 for 200. That is an excellent price. If you've got money to spend and time to kill then picking up the 1080 for 200 and selling the 1070 TI would be good.

  4. Depends on the application. At least 10-15% worst case. up to 22-25% at most if i had to throw some quick numbers at you. Really for games probably around 20% give or take. Just watch any review/benchmark on youtube. (Gamers Nexus, Hardware unboxed, LTT, Digital Foundry, ect..)
  5. GTX 1660 $190 after rebate (before tax) new https://www.newegg.com/msi-geforce-gtx-1660-gtx-1660-ventus-xs-6g-oc/p/N82E16814137400 You can also get some sweet deals on used cards.
  6. I think the best next gen wifi 6 (802.11 AX) adapters on the market are less than this? That said, the one you linked may be better since OPs network is presumably AC wifi at best. I'm not an expert though. https://www.amazon.com/Pce-AX58BT-Next-Gen-Wireless-Adapter-Bluetooth/dp/B07XLP199J
  7. Okay thanks for the input! We're talking USD, yeah?
  8. Do you have another system to try the card in? I have done a bunch of these dell prebuilts and I have had similar issues to this. A surprisingly simple fix was to unplug the power cord from the back of the PC and then press and hold the power button for 30+ seconds. Plug back in and boots normal. Considering the 7800gt worked, i doubt this will work but maybe worth a go. As far as the oven method goes, I've got nothing except this ifixit guide. An interesting note however is that the reballing or reflow of the solder itself is NOT the solution and is a pretty popular myth. The CPU core itself is damaged/dead and the thermal shock to the flip chip solder bumps is what gives the card a little more life, NOT the solders between the GPU's mini PCB/substrate and the video card. It'll likely die again within a year even if you got brand new solder. https://madpsy.uk/the-nonsense-that-is-reballing-dead-gpus/
  9. Is the current RAM 2x4 GB or 1x8GB? Do you have a microcenter nearby?
  10. What would your guys asking price be? (USD) What would the lowest price you'd take be? Component Selection: Dell Optiplex 790 Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 ti Intel Core i5-2310 4 x 2 Gb DDR3 @1333 Mhz New 2TB Seagate Barracuda OEM 265 Watt Power supply OEM Motherboard
  11. Technically not completely dead, but given the purple bar artifacting, its looking like irreversible damage has been incurred. Effectively bricked...
  12. To be clear, you went there and selected these options?
  13. if you go to https://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us you can instead download the standard version of the older driver. This error is just due to nvidias website giving you the DCH version by default which is just lacking the nvidia control panel i think.

  15. I would first check and see if you're able to play these games and maintain 98-100% gpu usage at all times. If you are frequently dropping below this, I think it would be worth the cooler upgrade+overclock. Also, If you can find one cheap enough (say $80 or less) an i7-3770K wouldn't be a bad purchase either if you are budget constrained. Your existing 3470k may struggle in PUBG and new AAA games, even overclocked. If you can maintain 98-100% GPU usage at all times in your current configuration, the overclock would still yield an improvement, but likely not as much. May be worth upgrading to an entire new platform down the road instead. Its really impossible to tell to what degree without testing all of these specific configurations out in specific games that you play.
  16. Yeah as long were talking regular unbuffered RAM. Watch for ECC ram and ECC registered RAM!
  17. You'll probably want to just go ahead and play some games while monitoring your GPU usage. If its getting 100% usage, you're probably fine without the OC. Either way, OC-ing will further improve performance. If you're using a stock intel cooler, there probably isn't any thermal headroom for overclocking. You can easily confirm by monitoring temps under load. A hyper 212 evo or equivalent could probably get you an easy 4.5 GHz. Probably not worth spending much more than that.
  18. My only suggestion would be to list it as defective/for parts and describe the issue in the listing and hope to get like $50 for it.
  19. He said in the OP no he doesn't remember seeing the issue before.
  20. I'd say buy as much graphics card as you can afford. 5700 over the 5600XT. If you can afford it, 5700XT
  21. You're welcome! Could also be turbo or bios setting issue like Fasauceome suggested. So many possible culprits for the same issue.
