I have a OnePlus 3T, It's a nice phone. Don't think I want to go with OnePlus again though. I want a fast phone, But I don't care for the big dogs in the game. Like apple, samsung ect... And I'd like to support a smaller company to help healthy competition. But I still want a phone that performs well.
OnePlus really lost a lot of users and respect when it was revealed that they are collecting data from all their phones. In most use cases, Without the users knowledge. I know you can disable this, in the settings, and if you really want to be careful you can disable it with a packet manager. (For anybody who didn't know; pm uninstall -k --user 0 pkg) But on the other end of the spectrum, What big company isn't using their customers as a data farm? Everybody is doing it. Google at least is honest about data harvest. We all know what windows 10 is doing with Cortana, It's getting ugly out there for people who really want privacy, and its giving the tin foil wearers amongst us to double down on foil. Back to the phone.
Oxygen OS is similar to stock android, But isn't as good for my use case scenario. Not impressed, I wish it came with stock android.
I enjoy the phones high specs, But their price to performance is dropping with each release. In the article it says,
I know part of the idea with smaller bezels is to increase screen realestate, But I think have normal sized hands and I think 5.5 inches is plenty, and on the bigger end. Granted I am no phone engineer, so I don't know what all they have to cram onto the PCB, to have phone with flagship bells and whistles on it. That may increase phone size. But, Id like to see bigger batteries on phones, and for them to focus less on squeezable frames, infinity edges, swap-able back plates and other phone gimmicks. I'd rather have a 1080 or 1440 screen with an LED screen that's on the thicker side, that will last me several days at a time, than a 4K Organic LED screen, that will last me half a day. Samsung tried both, by pushing their battery tech farther than it could go, and now they are an exploding phone meme.
The article below is just talking about the bezel of the phone, and not specs. The 5T looks a lot like the pixel in my opinion. Pretty uniform to most phones out right now. Not bad, but not good.
