  1. Well then, Linus' video needs to be updated... I only have one DVI monitor, and I need that to be plugged into the GPU directly to see anything.
  2. the DVI monitor is DVI-D, but the DP>DVI has a DVI-I port on it.
  3. I don't really know weather or not it's Active or Passive... I thought DisplayPort carried digital and analog like DVI-I does? It does not.
  4. No, I'm plugging the adapter into the GPU side. Neither the DVI monitor which had two ports, nor the VGA only monitor worked.
  5. This is my adapter: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA7258010343&cm_re=displayport_to_dvi-_-183-004H-00006-_-Product I tried it straight from DP to DVI, then I tried DP to DVI to VGA. The DVI and VGA monitors are both working, I checked. All it says is just... Monitor going to sleep.
  6. Wait, I thought Alphabet had a larger work force and GDP than the E.U.? Why are they so scared? /s
  7. Do you mean everything getting brighter when moving, or the color banding?
  8. Hi, I have a total of $13 and I won't be getting any more until around Christmas. (yes, I am a poor boy.) I had one pair of headphones where the right earphone died, I worked with that for awhile, until I accidentally pulled it off my desk one day and snapped the broken earphones right off the headset, I had another pair, this time wireless, the transmitter broke, and also the left earphone stopped working (somewhat) so now I'm looking for a new pair, here's a few options I'm looking into: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA8NW3317487 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAGCB7SP3067 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA8NW3542000 My question is, are any of these reliable? Or should I just wait until Christmas? Do you have any other alternatives? (P.S. $11/13 only works on Newegg, which is why I'm looking there.)
  9. water coolers are not safe. One F up and your motherboard's probably dead, unless you're an expert idiot like Linus who knows how to dry water from motherboards.
  10. Intel fanboys are desperately defending from the AMD fanboy onslaught. And loosing.
  11. Hi, I'm looking around at GPU's and I'm wondering, is this information correct?: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XYDzK8/asus-radeon-rx-580-4gb-dual-video-card-dual-rx580-o4g It says that this RX 580 has 4GB of VRAM, which doesn't seem right, I always thought that RX 580's always had 8GB of VRAM?
  12. Unless you can compile your own Linux distro, you're on your own.
  13. Do you... do you not know how PC's work? Where's the power supply? GPU? IO plate? Cooling? And most importantly, Where's the RGB?!
  14. Disconnect, destroy, same function. You should see a little black button-type thing on the motherboard, that is the PC-Speaker.
  15. It's either coil whine randomly starting, or your PC speaker is not happy about something.
  16. Hi, I have a Cisco LinkSYS WRT150N router that I picked up from Goodwill, and I have quite the interesting setup in order to give it internet: 1. have a wireless extender with an ethernet port extending my internet from upstairs. 2. plug a 100 foot ethernet cable from the extender to the Cisco router. 3. plug a shorter ethernet cable into the router. 4. plug the short cable into pc. What i'm wondering is, how do I set up a static IP on this? I'm relatively new to setting up this sort of stuff. (if you're wondering, no I can't get into my upstairs router, it's setup can't be accessed.)
  17. I got my own code, however, my internet is only 8Mbps, so... yeah, not the best experience. (98% frame loss at lowest settings.)
  18. I'd just replace the IHS altogether and replace it with an on-die CPU block like Linus did.
  19. I would wait until Intel's 9000 series chips release, and if they aren't really that much better, at least Coffeelake will have a lower price.
