That Puget article is boost clock only, I imagine a 4.7ghz 7800x will outperform a 4.7ghz 8700k handily (despetie being .7ghz slower in the test the 7800x still comes really close)
 

Well I understand your frustration but Intel has a whole new batch of i7 8700k's getting to the shops first day of November.

I would get the 7800x, personally. AVX 512 and quad channel memory are great to haves for encoding. It also has a far better upgrade path, should you really need it.

Covfefe will be cheaper, so i'd suggest that.
