  1. How were you able to get Speedfan working on your Taichi, or does it simply work by default? Does it include all the fans and the CPU temps? As other others appear to have reported issues: http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=5698&title=x370-taichi-speedfan
  2. Hi, Do you think that Speedfan would work on the: Asus ROG STRIX X370-F Similar chip as your Taichi, but I prefer the colour scheme as it's a neutral black, allowing me more flexibility for the water loop colour scheme. cheers.
  3. I'll have a look into that motherboard. It's a little expensive compared to have I have at the moment. But probably worth the extra cost if it allows speedfan, as this 50dB PC for the last 3 days is driving me mad. I would have liked to have a neutral black colour so I can choose a better colour scheme when I watercool rather than a lot of white. Photos showing my BIOS settings if it helps:
  4. Hi, Cheers for the reply, Yes. All fans are plugged into the PWM headers. I've already configured my BIOS to run as quietly as possible. All fans are configured to be the lowest setting until the CPU goes above 60 degrees, even with the CPU currently on 34 degrees, my 3 fans case fans and CPU fans are incredibly loud. Using a sound meter, it's 50dB. Plus I have 2 additional case fans I need to add later once my CPU cooler is replaced. I want all my fans turned off like with Speedfan. I would like to purchase a motherboard that do support Speedfan, although if it's going to be based on a motherboard rather than the socket, it's going to be hard to narrow down which one will work. I'd like to not purchase 10 MB, install them all and see which ones are compatible. Debating whether any X370 MB will be compatible.
  5. Hi everyone, I'm looking for either: A) An alternative to Speedfan for my new motherboard / CPU B) A new motherboard that is compatible with Speedfan My current PC specs are: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/cDHnTB I was previously using the following: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/4BnNnH I used Speedfan and it was brilliant. I had all my case fans turned off, then only at 10% speed when the CPU went above 50 degrees, then slowly increased. At the moment, all my fans feel like they're on 100% as my current hardware isn't compatible with Speedfan. It isnt' detect the fans or the CPU. Despite my CPU temps showing in the BIOS and software such as HWMonitor. It looks like Speedfan hasn't been updated in a while: http://www.almico.com/sfhistory.php I have my fans configured in the BIOS to run silent and only increase when the CPU is over 50 degrees, but all the fans are still on at least 40% which is incredibly loud for 5 fans. Even on the lowest setting, there isn't a way to have the fans turned off completely. I want it to be silent like before. Looking into CAM, HWMonitor, none of these all my to control my fan speed, especially with as much power as before. Checking on the forums, seems a lot of people with Ryzen CPU and motherboards aren't able to support list. List of compatible MB here: http://www.almico.com/forummotherboards.php?man=254 I can't seem to find my old intel MB chipset on there, which is strange as it used to work: CHIPSET Intel Z97 Checking the compatibility filter in Parkpicker for my Ryzen CPU, the only compatible chips are: AMD A320 AMD B350 AMD X370 I installed the latest Chipset drivers for the Asus MB here: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-B350-F-GAMI... I also downloaded the AMD CPU Chipset drivers here: https://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windo... No luck. Still won't pickup the CPU in Speedfan. I've found a new people on forums recommending this MB: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/qMdFf7/asus-prime-x370-pro-atx-am4-motherboard-prime-x370-pro But I can't see the Chipset on the official supported hardware page either. Does anyone have any recommendations for either an alternative to speedfan to control my CPU fan speed depending on my hardware specs. Or a new motherboard that will support Speedfan that is fairly new and supports my hardware provided in my first link. Cheers.
  6. Hi everyone, I'm building a PC for a friend that uses the following software: Maya 3DS Max Zbrush Photoshop 4D MarvelousDesigner I was originally looking at 2K monitors, but now I believe a 4K monitor would be most beneficial for her work, my max budget is around £350 / $400 Here's the one that I'm leaning towards the most: BenQ BL2711U 27 inch 4K I was also recommended this one: ASUS PB287Q, 28'' 4K However, it's several years old, doesn't support IPS and the colour isn't the best I could get for the money. There's also another model for the BenQ I linked previously for graphic design which specialises the colours but it's 2K: BenQ PD2500Q 25 inch 2K Designer Monitor There's a few other 2K monitors that peaked by interest too: Dell U2415 24.0-Inch - $280 ASUS VX24AH 23.8" WQHD $244 BenQ GW2765HT £267 BenQ PD2700Q 27 inch 2K - £334 Does anyone have any experience with any 4K monitors that are good for graphic design and the above software they'd recommend? Thanks.
  7. Hi everyone,I'm building a PC for my friend who needs a PC for 3D Rending and image editing. The software's that she uses are: Maya 3DS Max Zbrush Photoshop 4D MarvelousDesigner At the moment, I'm having some conflict choosing an AMD VS Intel CPU, as there's quite a lot of debate on which is more optimised for the above software. Many people recommend the AMD Ryzen 5 & 7 due to the amount of CPU cores helping handle the above, as most of her rendering is done using CPU rather than GPU, so I decided a high end GPU wasn't essential. I wanted to keep it under £1500 maximum, that's only the max I would go, not how much I'm looking to spend exactly. If I can save £500 because the components will only give a 10% performance increase, I'l happily cut the cost. My current build is: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor (£178.50 @ Amazon UK) Motherboard: ASRock - AB350 Pro4 ATX AM4 Motherboard (£79.37 @ BT Shop) Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory (£163.20 @ Aria PC) Storage: Samsung - 850 EVO 250GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive (£88.29 @ Ebuyer) Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£75.00 @ Aria PC) Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB SC GAMING Video Card (£239.99 @ Novatech) Case: Thermaltake - Versa H21 ATX Mid Tower Case (£33.99 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G2 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (£86.14 @ Amazon UK) Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit Monitor: BenQ - BL2711U 27.0" 3840x2160 60Hz Monitor (£467.12 @ PC World Business) Total: £1411.60 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2017-10-21 18:43 BST+0100 I need to buy a monitor to go with the build. I want to get a 4K monitor, so I've added one to the build which adds £400 although Amazon US it's only $400 which is like £330. So that's taken up a lot of the budget. I decided to upgrade the GPU to a 1060. I spoke with my friend and most of the software she uses she renders using CPU rather than GPU, so I don't need the 1070. Plus looking at the performance charts, the it's only a 15% increase for a 1060 to a 1070 but an extra £250. The CPU being the most important component possibly. 32GB of RAM was a little overkill, so I've reduced to 16GB and also lowered the PSU. I don't need the CPU cooler as the Ryzen CPU models are better for heat and come with a better stock cooler than intel. Plus if she ever needs more RAM for the software she uses like Zbrush, she can add an extra 16GB, so I think I should keep it at 16GB for the moment. Any other suggestions for improvement to this build or any components you think I could swap to save money if it won't have a significant impact on the build, I'd appreciate the suggestions. Thanks.
