  1. Hi guys, I'm at a complete loss with what's going on with my new build and I wondered if some of you more knowledgeable folk might be able to help me figure it out! The first issue I had was not being able to get the PC to boot. I checked the on switch by seeing if I could just short the power switch pins, but nothing. I know the board was getting power because USB devices were lighting up as well as the LEDs on the motherboard. I then assumed a PSU issue, so I tried a different PSU and it booted just fine. Therefore, I thought it's either my original PSU or one of the PSU cables. I tested the PSU by shorting it and getting it to power a blu ray drive which worked just fine. New cables for PSU came yesterday - I plug them into the original PSU and then plug it into the board - powers on first time! Issue solved. Or so I thought... I put the PSU back inside the case and just check it still boots - nothing. What?! I thought I had it all figured out! I then took the PSU back out of the case and tried again - it powered on fine. Back inside the case again then - nothing! I try with the second PSU again - works first time, and constantly. I then take my original PSU to work and try it on a PC here and it works first time again! I power down and try booting again, now it doesn't work! I've no idea what the issue is. Is it the motherboard? A temperamental PSU? Could it just be the CPU isn't seated properly? but then why does it work first time with a different PSU? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  2. I only use my PC for gaming so I have no need for massive storage space. I use a MacBook Pro for work and have large external drives for that. The performance of the D14 is amazing, however it obscures the RAM (which has LEDs in and looks cool) and also in my current case I can't put the side door on with the D14 fitted as the RAM is too tall for it to be installed correctly. Therefore the h100i is purely for looks!
  3. Changing my case and my cooling to fit my new upgraded components in! I'm currently running this setup: MSI Gaming Z87-G45 Motherboard Intel i5 4670k @ 4.4GHz 16GB Avexir Core Series White DDR3 2400MHz EVGA Nvidia 780Ti SC ACX 64GB Crucial C300 SSD (OS) 120GB Corsair Force LS SSD (Shadow play recording) 2 x 120GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD (RAID 0, Games) I'm replacing my case and cooling (currently a NH-D14, with all noctua fans in a Fractal R3) with: NZXT H440 (Black) Corsair H100i 6 x Corsair Quiet Edition AF120 Fans I'll post up some photos of the current case soon, and then I'll post as stuff arrives and I put it all together! (Case isn't actually out yet, it's on pre-order).
