  1. min hours of usage for games/movies would probably be 4 hours. in regards to buisness premium laptops, i would be open to a thinkpad. nothing against it. the brands i have been looking at recently have been the 15 inch, macbook pro, razer and alienware. but I havnt been able to narrow it down from there. but i am also open to adding to the ones i am looking at. My current laptop is still up and running so i am in no rush to make the purchase. If the macbook (specd the way i like) wasnt so expensive, i probably would have just bought that again, but they are so damn pricey that is why i have expanded my search.
  2. Battery life is probably the most important, graphics card... i dont need the top of the line but to be able to watch HD movies/play games in a decent quality would be nice. and weight doesnt matter. i am currently located in Dallas, TX. and in regards to business premium laptops, what are you refering to?
  3. Hey Everyone! First and foremost thank you for viewing my post! I previously used this site to help me figure out my gaming room configuration and set up for my consoles and had such an amazing experience that i am back!! I am open to both Mac and Pc laptops. I currently own with my siblings. an alienware 15m that is set up at a vacation home for VR for all of us and our kids to use, but it is not set up at my main residence. At my main residence (that i am trying to replace)I own a 2014 fully loaded macbook pro and a whatever dell laptop at my office. My mac is what I currently use on a day to day basis at home, but now that it is a bit older, it is slower and cant even handle a game such as runescape. I did love the computer and had a great experience with it overall, but it has just gotten so slow and laggy recently it is bothering me. Here is what I am looking for- - A new laptop, Mac or PC. I do own a Ipad Pro and an Iphone X, so mac has always been the way i have leaned at home. - One that will definitely last 4-5 years and not slowly die. - I do play games on it such as runescape, Diablo 3, and others. (I do currently own a switch, PS4, xbox1, and many older gaming systems) so I am not a strictly computer gamer, but I do want to be able to play whichever game i may chose and have it run great. - I also use my laptop pretty frequently for work (microsoft office product), emails, watching movies, storing a good amount of music, and other daily activities. - price range of 2-4k. That price point can be higher if it is worth it, but truth be told, I am not a computer expert. - In the end, i want a computer that can run quickly and efficiently for the next 4 years, be able to run my games without lagging, have a decent amount of storage 500-1tb+... the rest of the specs I honestly don't know or understand well enough to narrow down. I am going to guess that everyone here hates mac and that will probably be the first thing I read in the comments, but if it can handle what I need i am not opposed to it. The new macbook pro just seems a little overpriced for what you are getting right now, which is why i am here! if anyone has any recommendations for specs of the laptop based off what I have put, please do share and an explanation to help me learn a bit more would be even better! if you have any recommendations for exact laptops as well, that would also be amazing! i look forward to reading and hearing what everyone has to say and really appreciate all the help and incite! I hope everyone has a great turkey day week/great week in general if you don't celebrate the holiday. Thank you again!!!
  4. Okay so my question is, what and how can this benefit me? i currently have a sonos play bar set up with two play ones in the back of the room. that is hooked up to the main tv. i do have a blue tooth master chief collectors helmet thing that i got as a birthday present from a buddy, i could set that up as sound from the back of the room from one of the other tvs? but again, i also have bluetooth recievers connected to each tv so that if the main one is in use with the sonos, headphones can be used on one of the others . Or if the gf takes the main tv to watch something and im stuck gaming on the small tv i can have headphones hooked up for sound. not opposed to making better sound in the room just not sure how i would go about it and realisitically how much i would be willing to spend on it.
  5. Cyber, Well i am sure you will hate this answer but- I have an Alienware 15 at my vacation home for oculus gaming. And at home, outside of all my gaming systems, I use a macbook pro, and an iPad pro..... yup i am the ugly ducking of gaming and am the first to admit it. I love my Macs, Always have and always will. but truthfully dont play many pc/mac games except for previously Diablo 2...........then 3, and Runescape years back. but lets save that argument for once i solve my issues for my game room haha
  6. Okay so we have Phillips hue for lighting as one suggestion. any other suggestions for lighting? ( i was also thinking maybe a strip light of some sorts for the media console Additionally, does anyone know/heard of any sort of universal remote that could handle all this shit, OR even better as i mentioned, some way to get it all done on the ipad.
  7. Hey everyone!!!!!! So once upon a time, I was on this forum and got a lot of help from some people to help with the plans (someone made them below) and the before picture (also below) of what my game room set up was like. here is what i have now- the 3 tvs, hooked up to a 4x4 hdmi matrix, with 2 hdmi splitters, and all the gaming systems that are listed below. i also have bluetooth recievers connected to each tv so that headphones can be used to listen to one screen at a time... SO that is all up and running and cool and great now!!!!! HOWEVER, I do need some final touches to get this room up and running to its full potential. i currently have a sonos playbar and two sonos play1s in the back of the room for surround sound. I have a spare ipad that i plan on using in this room to help with my problem. I am trying to get color lighting set up in the room as well and currently need a lamp bulb(type a bulb 120v 60hz 150w max) lights for fan (2 40w type b10) and sconces in back of room where the sonos are (2 60 watt type a 120v 60hz) 1. I am looking for recomendations for what lighting/company i should use to get all of this done. 2. I would like to get the sonos set up on my ipad(not that difficult and i can do on my own) but i would also like to get the light bulbs hooked up to it as well. 2a. i have an old ipad that is wifi only that i could keep in this room and use for everything as a controller. i also have a new ipad pro that has wifi and att i could bring into the room if i wanted to. 3. i wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions on how to get this room up and running the most efficient way possible. ex: if there is any way to set the tvs up to the ipad, set the hdmi matrix(it has a remote) up to it, or the hdmi splitters (those have buttons). 4. I would just like some general help on making this room the most effecient possible game room it can be and am open to any and all suggestions to making that happen!!!!!!!!! So to sum up, i really need suggestions on the lighting, i would like any suggestions on making this room more efficient in any way shape or form. thank you to everyone who helped in the past, and thank you to everyone for your help in advanced!!! I will add some updated photos of the room when i get there later today.
  8. Hey all! So I posted this in display a little bit ago, but seeing as it is an interesting middle ground and havn't heard anything back, I thought i would give here a try too! I am setting up a game room with a bunch of inputs and 3 tvs (outputs) and was looking to use a 4x4 hdmi matrix and actually 2 2x1 switches because i have so many inputs. As of now, i am going to buy the monoprice 4k blackbird 4x4 and 2 of the monoprice 2x1 mini switch with optional power input. ( I think staying with the same company for both is the smarter move) Does anyone have any sort of reviews for the monoprice blackbird 4x4, or any other 4x4 matrix? i am open to using any other options, just want to try and get some input from other users!! any input or advice on any 4x4 matrix switches would be very helpful, thank you in advance! I look forward to hearing from you!
  9. Also, anyone out there even own a 4x4 switch? With the above recommendations i asked for, does anyone even use one or do you recommend other ways? (if there are any?
  10. Hey everyone! I am currently about to buy a couple switches to complete my 3 TV game room! I am buying a 4x4 switch and 3 2x1 switches. I would like to buy the same company because typically they work better together. as of now I am going to be buying the monoprice blackbird 4x4 and their smaller 2x1s. does anyone have any experience with a 4x4 matrix switch? If so, any advice on which one to buy? I have read good and bad things about monoprice. So if anyone has any recommendations, let me know! Thanks in advance to any and all that help!
  11. Awesome! Thanks guys for all your help!
  12. So can you briefly explain the front to back process of that? I would find a coaxial port somewhere downstairs( or Ethernet but I don't think there is one) and plug it in, power it up. And from there can you explain the rest? The issue is that a tech guy previously set the house up before I moved in (about a year ago when girlfriend did) and the router upstairs has all but one port filled) not sure where they go or what is going on with them, but don't want to rehire him or figure it out) i thiught the easiest solution would be to set up a router downstairs and connect the tv and all phones to that network rather than the upstairs one, thus granting better speeds downstairs and upstairs because not as many devices will be connected. Thank you again for your advice and help so far! Hopefully I can get this done tomorrow no sweat!
  13. Hey there everyone! I am relatively new to the forum and have so far had an amazing experience and such wonderful advice from so many amazing people! If you have seen any of my other posts, I recently moved into my girlfriends house and am trying to bring the tech up a notch on all fronts I am here trying to start my next project, installing a second router in the home. ( the first router is installed upstairs that is in my currently being built game room, 3 tv with 4x4 switch set up, two televisions in the two other bedrooms up there, and normally two phones/iPads/laptops and such at night). Downstairs is where we spend most of the day with a single tv and phones and iPads and other such stuff. I am looking to install s second router down here so the devices downstairs can connect to the downstairs router, and upstairs will connect to upstairs. I also just called att to boost our signal from 24 to 75 mbs. So I am trying to install a new one down here and need advice on 1. What to use, 2. How to physically set it up. 3. How to wirelessly set it up to make connections most efficient. From a recent office move I recovered the following: linksys ea9200 motorolla surfboard sbg6580 (with time warner sticker on it, I think that's who we have in our office, not sure) motorolla surfboardsb6141. can I use any of these To accomplish my goals? If so, how? If not? Can you recommend a new product for me to buy/ assist with set up if I can't get past instructions lol. Thank you all for your help in advance and if you have any questions or clarifications on what I'm trying to accomplish, please let me know! I appreciate all your help and advice again and thank you!!!
  14. Thanks for this! The first one i think should work perfect for two of the tvs, the other one is a bit older so it should have optical out, so that covers exactly what i need!!!! thank you so much for your help, this was perfect and exactly what i needed. i was having trouble finding any that were multiple headphone connectable. i was hoping for 3-4, but honestly 2 is perfect, having more is just for guests but if its 4 on one tv and me on another, i should use the headphones not make them haha.
