Hey there, I have been tasked with looking to order several high CPU spec laptops for upgrades to our currently old generation i7-6600U CPU which will be used for software development and so as you could guess need to be powerful on the CPU side but not really GPU side.
Currently we use laptops equipped with i7-6600U CPUs, which get taxed badly when compiling a VS solution with over 100 projects. I have been looking at sites like pcspecialist which only offer up to i7-7700HQ configs but sites like scan offer up to i7-8700K configs. Comparing both top of the range CPUs you can spend easily double the price going from 7700HQ (link to the laptop) to the 8700K (link to the laptop) but are the CPUs really that much better to justify the extra cost? Have attached a pic of my quick findings on cpubenchmark to see the general benchmark scores.
